Bookshelves flank the recessed TV and display the clients art and artifacts. Custom upholstery pieces were made specifically for the space. A new stone fireplace adds charm to the cozy living room. These over-sized niches were custom made to display artifacts and offer the space a more sophisticated feel. The glass shelves were also custom made after the fact, taken every thing into account.

We completely re-imagined two rooms for a Windsor Hills, CA, client who loves Mid Century modern style. She had acquired some nice pieces already, but just didn’t know quite how to pull the entire look together. She also wanted a way to display some of her prized African artifacts. Enter Madison Modern Home, and a brand new living room and dining room began to take shape, complete with a rustic stacked stone fireplace and reclaimed wood mantel to replace the outdated brick and mirror. We sourced bright yellow modern chairs, a cobalt blue rug, kilim and richly textured pillows, Moroccan patterned curtains and new lighting. In the dining room, it was a complete overhaul — featuring a sleek dining table and chairs, original art and an eye-catching three-light pendant.

The home is open and airy with vaulted ceilings and full of mementos from world adventures through the years, including to Cambodia, home of their much-adored sponsored daughter. The home, full of love and memories was host to a growing extended family of children and grandchildren. This was THE place. When the homeowner’s wife passed away suddenly and unexpectedly, he became determined to create a space that would continue to welcome and host his family and the many wonderful family memories that lay ahead but with an eye towards functionality. We started out by evaluating how the space would be used. Cooking and watching sports were key factors. So, we shuffled the current dining table into a rarely used living room whereby enlarging the kitchen. The kitchen now houses two large islands – one for prep and the other for seating and buffet space. We removed the wall between kitchen and family room to encourage interaction during family gatherings and of course a clear view to the game on TV. We also removed a dropped ceiling in the kitchen, and wow, what a difference. Next, we added some drama with a large arch between kitchen and dining room creating a stunning architectural feature between those two spaces. This arch echoes the shape of the large arch at the front door of the townhome, providing drama and significance to the space. The kitchen itself is large but does not have much wall space, which is a common challenge when removing walls. We added a bit more by resizing the double French doors to a balcony at the side of the house which is now just a single door. This gave more breathing room to the range wall and large stone hood but still provides access and light. We chose a neutral pallet of black, white, and white oak, with punches of blue at the counter stools in the kitchen. The cabinetry features a white shaker door at the perimeter for a crisp outline. Countertops and custom hood are black Caesarstone, and the islands are a soft white oak adding contrast and warmth. Two large built ins between the kitchen and dining room function as pantry space as well as area to display flowers or seasonal decorations. We repeated the blue in the dining room where we added a fresh coat of paint to the existing built ins, along with painted wainscot paneling. Above the wainscot is a neutral grass cloth wallpaper which provides a lovely backdrop for a wall of important mementos and artifacts. The dining room table and chairs were refinished and re-upholstered, and a new rug and window treatments complete the space. The room now feels ready to host more formal gatherings or can function as a quiet spot to enjoy a cup of morning coffee.

This home started with a slew of structural issues, mold, termites, and electrical hazards throughout. After totally replacing certain walls and a total renovation, this client had his dream home finally come to life.

Let me walk you through how this unique powder room layout was transformed into a charming space filled with vintage charm: First, I took a good look at the layout of the powder room to see what I was working with. I wanted to keep any special features while making improvements where needed. Next, I added vintage-inspired fixtures like a pedestal sink, faucet with exposed drain (key detail) along with beautiful lighting to give the space that old hotel charm. I made sure to choose pieces with intricate details and finishes that matched the vintage vibe. Then, I picked out some statement wallpaper with bold, vintage patterns to really make the room pop. Think damask, floral, or geometric designs in rich colours that transport you back in time; hello William Morris. Of course, no vintage-inspired space is complete without antique accessories. I added mirrors, sconces, and artwork with ornate frames and unique details to enhance the room's vintage charm. To add warmth and texture, I chose luxurious textiles like hand towels with interesting detail. These soft, plush fabrics really make the space feel cozy and inviting. For lighting, I installed vintage-inspired fixtures such as a gun metal pendant light along with sophisticated sconces topped with delicate cream shades to create a warm and welcoming atmosphere. I made sure they had dimmable bulbs so you can adjust the lighting to suit your mood. To enhance the vintage charm even further, I added architectural details like wainscoting, shiplap and crown molding. These details really elevate the space and give it that old-world feel. I also incorporated unique artifacts and vintage finds, like cowbells and vintage signage, to add character and interest to the room. These items were perfect for displaying in our cabinet as decorative accents. Finally, I upgraded the hardware with vintage-inspired designs to complement the overall aesthetic of the space. I chose pieces with modern detailing and aged finishes for an authentic vintage look. And there you have it! I was able to transform a unique powder room layout into a charming space reminiscent of an old hotel.

This end of the large room features a custom made game table and walnut display cabinet that houses priceless Native American artifacts. Lighting the game table was achieved by stringing wire cables under the skylight and suspending pendant lights from the cable. The comfortable chairs can be easily moved around the room as needed. The patchwork rug anchors and defines the space.

The customers had purchased the home after moving from up North but they were unhappy with the kitchen area. Specifically, they wanted to turn their kitchen from a segmented room into a large open space that encompassed a fireplace at one end. This area of the home already had some great features that we wanted to show off to their best advantage, including beautiful, arched, huge windows and glass patio doors that looked out down the beach as well as the 12 to 15 foot ceilings. We worked with the client at our Largo location to develop a design. They selected a KraftMaid Lindale-painted dove white cabinet including all of the bells and whistles like soft closing doors and drawers. Due to the height of the room they chose very large upper cabinets stacked with glass and decorate panels around the sides and fronts to display decorative items and beach artifacts. This choice gave the room an open, airy feeling and the light color works with the sunlight to really brighten the space. As part of this remodel, the client also updated all of their appliances so our design seamlessly incorporated them into the space, both along the walls and in their wonderful, large island. This room is now the heart of the main floor and this brilliant, eye-catching space is a place to gather with friends and family, dine and relax. It was a significant remodel project and we needed to work around other trades, such as glaziers, electricians, plumbers and flooring experts. We are experts at working in this type of environment and, though there were a few delays due to challenges in coordinating work timelines, the client and his wife were extremely pleased with the results.
