Let me walk you through how this unique powder room layout was transformed into a charming space filled with vintage charm: First, I took a good look at the layout of the powder room to see what I was working with. I wanted to keep any special features while making improvements where needed. Next, I added vintage-inspired fixtures like a pedestal sink, faucet with exposed drain (key detail) along with beautiful lighting to give the space that old hotel charm. I made sure to choose pieces with intricate details and finishes that matched the vintage vibe. Then, I picked out some statement wallpaper with bold, vintage patterns to really make the room pop. Think damask, floral, or geometric designs in rich colours that transport you back in time; hello William Morris. Of course, no vintage-inspired space is complete without antique accessories. I added mirrors, sconces, and artwork with ornate frames and unique details to enhance the room's vintage charm. To add warmth and texture, I chose luxurious textiles like hand towels with interesting detail. These soft, plush fabrics really make the space feel cozy and inviting. For lighting, I installed vintage-inspired fixtures such as a gun metal pendant light along with sophisticated sconces topped with delicate cream shades to create a warm and welcoming atmosphere. I made sure they had dimmable bulbs so you can adjust the lighting to suit your mood. To enhance the vintage charm even further, I added architectural details like wainscoting, shiplap and crown molding. These details really elevate the space and give it that old-world feel. I also incorporated unique artifacts and vintage finds, like cowbells and vintage signage, to add character and interest to the room. These items were perfect for displaying in our cabinet as decorative accents. Finally, I upgraded the hardware with vintage-inspired designs to complement the overall aesthetic of the space. I chose pieces with modern detailing and aged finishes for an authentic vintage look. And there you have it! I was able to transform a unique powder room layout into a charming space reminiscent of an old hotel.

The couple had collected beautiful artwork from their many travels, as well as original pieces by their daughter. These, of course, deserved to be highlighted. We emphasized these pieces by incorporating their dominant colors into the fabrics of each room. The custom bench cushion was our favorite example. It pulled in the bold cobalt and honey tones displayed in the art and pottery on the floating kitchen shelves. We then referenced the honey in the decorative tape on the roman shades above. Throughout the home, we helped them emphasize the artifacts, artwork, and travel souvenirs that meant the most to them.

Christy and Matt have traveled the world, picking up a love of Monet’s garden in France and many unique artifacts along the way. They had accumulated an extensive art collection of their own which expanded to include an eclectic array of folk art inherited from Christy’s mom. With an eye on downsizing, the couple realized their living environment had become cluttered. They wanted a more serene feeling in their home…like a modern version of Monet’s Garden. LiLu’s inspiration began with a new color palette, using green as a neutral and adding a mixture of vibrant colors reminiscent of a garden. Sheer drapes in the living room diffuse the natural light, almost as if the sun is being filtered through a canopy of trees. The design team also brought focus to their art collection by designing custom built-ins to display their artwork. The dark wood finish relates to the color of the custom dining table creating a cohesive composition. The clean-lined furniture features soft curves to suggest a more botanical feel. The result has brought dazzling serenity to this condo hidden among the busy streets of downtown Minneapolis. ---- Project designed by Minneapolis interior design studio LiLu Interiors. Many historic artifacts were discovered in the walls and floors, including books, shoes, and clothing - several of which are displayed in the home. An octagonal, three-story turret with full windows was added to the Northwest corner in order to capture the bay views.

The walls are clay plaster by American Clay. The small niches display artifacts collected by the owner. We organized the casitas and main house of this hacienda around a colonnade-lined courtyard. Walking from the parking court through the exterior wood doors and stepping into the courtyard has the effect of slowing time. The hand carved stone fountain in the center is a replica of one in Mexico. Viewed from this site on Seco Creek near Utopia, the surrounding tree-covered hills turn a deep blue-green in the distance.

This space gave the perfect opportunity to display the homeowner's passion, that has been years in the making. The two wing chairs with their horn back crocodile upholstery are the perfect spot for a fireside chat. The oversized moldings continue creating the grand scale of this stately residence.

Amy Williams photography Fun and whimsical family room & kitchen remodel. This room was custom designed for a family of 7. My client wanted a beautiful but practical space. We added lots of details such as the bead board ceiling, beams and crown molding and carved details on the fireplace. The kitchen is full of detail and charm. Pocket door storage allows a drop zone for the kids and can easily be closed to conceal the daily mess. Beautiful fantasy brown marble counters and white marble mosaic backsplash compliment the herringbone ceramic tile floor. We designed this custom TV unit to be left open for access to the equipment. The sliding barn doors allow the unit to be closed as an option, but the decorative boxes make it attractive to leave open for easy access. The hex coffee tables allow for flexibility on movie night ensuring that each family member has a unique space of their own. And for a family of 7 a very large custom made sofa can accommodate everyone. The colorful palette of blues, whites, reds and pinks make this a happy space for the entire family to enjoy. Ceramic tile laid in a herringbone pattern is beautiful and practical for a large family.
