KITCHEN AFTER The homeowner's primary goal was to be able to host large dinner parties easily and efficiently. However, it was important that the space not feel like a commercial kitchen (even though it has three dishwashers!) in order to blend with the Mid-century Modern style of the home. We incorporated an underutilized adjacent area in order to increase the size of the kitchen by 150% to create designated space for everything, including the client's vast collection of china and serving pieces. The new floor plan feels as though it was original to the house. Cabinetry, countertops, and flooring also blend seamlessly with the rest of the home. This project is unique in that we were challenged with taking 2 distinct stone buildings that had been vacant for years and sited only about 40 feet apart. They had been individual residences on an old peach farm. The zoning for the property allowed only one residence on the lot and our client wanted to maintain both original structures and create one residence from both structures. THE RESULTS Clearly the resulting exterior aesthetic was a successful blending of the old and the new. Careful consideration was given to the scale and proportion of the original buildings and the central new addition joining the 2 structures seems to look as if it was there all along. As with all of our projects, our clients are an integral part of the design process and were extremely satisfied with the results. This whole house renovation captures the essence of a traditional colonial farmhouse. Although it was originally built as 2 distinct dwellings at 2 di erent times it now has all the character of a single family home that sits handsomely on it’s site. The interior blends seamlessly with the new central core addition and the existing updated interiors of the old structures. **Custom Timberline-Style Covered Patio with Skylights & Outdoor Comfort Features – Maple Valley** Completed a custom 472 sq. ft. (25'6" × 18'6") attached Timberline-style gable patio cover, seamlessly integrated with the existing home. The new roof features a continuous soffit, glulam beams, and a custom cricket where the new gable ties into the existing roof over the bump-out for a clean, watertight transition. The structure is supported by three posts, with the third post incorporated into the deck railing for a streamlined appearance. Installation included removal and replacement of the necessary decking and framing to accommodate the new structural supports. The ceiling was finished with 6-inch tongue-and-groove pine soffit, while the posts were wrapped for a refined architectural look. New gutters and downspouts were installed, and the roof was finished with Presidential shingles to match the existing home. To maximize natural light, four 2' × 4' skylights were installed, complete with flashing, trim, and professional waterproofing. Electrical upgrades included six recessed LED soffit lights tied into the existing circuit, two new exterior outlets, and two Bromic Cobalt 4000-watt infrared heaters, creating a comfortable, functional outdoor living space that can be enjoyed year-round.
