The home is open and airy with vaulted ceilings and full of mementos from world adventures through the years, including to Cambodia, home of their much-adored sponsored daughter. The home, full of love and memories was host to a growing extended family of children and grandchildren. This was THE place. When the homeowner’s wife passed away suddenly and unexpectedly, he became determined to create a space that would continue to welcome and host his family and the many wonderful family memories that lay ahead but with an eye towards functionality. We started out by evaluating how the space would be used. Cooking and watching sports were key factors. So, we shuffled the current dining table into a rarely used living room whereby enlarging the kitchen. The kitchen now houses two large islands – one for prep and the other for seating and buffet space. We removed the wall between kitchen and family room to encourage interaction during family gatherings and of course a clear view to the game on TV. We also removed a dropped ceiling in the kitchen, and wow, what a difference. Next, we added some drama with a large arch between kitchen and dining room creating a stunning architectural feature between those two spaces. This arch echoes the shape of the large arch at the front door of the townhome, providing drama and significance to the space. The kitchen itself is large but does not have much wall space, which is a common challenge when removing walls. We added a bit more by resizing the double French doors to a balcony at the side of the house which is now just a single door. This gave more breathing room to the range wall and large stone hood but still provides access and light. We chose a neutral pallet of black, white, and white oak, with punches of blue at the counter stools in the kitchen. The cabinetry features a white shaker door at the perimeter for a crisp outline. Countertops and custom hood are black Caesarstone, and the islands are a soft white oak adding contrast and warmth. Two large built ins between the kitchen and dining room function as pantry space as well as area to display flowers or seasonal decorations. We repeated the blue in the dining room where we added a fresh coat of paint to the existing built ins, along with painted wainscot paneling. Above the wainscot is a neutral grass cloth wallpaper which provides a lovely backdrop for a wall of important mementos and artifacts. The dining room table and chairs were refinished and re-upholstered, and a new rug and window treatments complete the space. The room now feels ready to host more formal gatherings or can function as a quiet spot to enjoy a cup of morning coffee.

An elegant regency inspired design in black and white. Modern glamour and elegance was created for this formal dining room with careful selection of furnishings and fabrics. The octagonal chair backs with black and white geometric pattern and contrasting black welt add just the modern juxtaposition to the large print damask upholstered captains chairs. The walls are painted black with crisp white trim.The wool and silk rug and modern crystal pendant chandelier add sparkle and shimmer to the room.

This project was featured in Midwest Home magazine as the winner of ASID Life in Color. The addition of a kitchen with custom shaker-style cabinetry and a large shiplap island is perfect for entertaining and hosting events for family and friends. Quartz counters that mimic the look of marble were chosen for their durability and ease of maintenance. Open shelving with brass sconces above the sink create a focal point for the large open space. Putting a modern spin on the traditional nautical/coastal theme was a goal. We took the quintessential palette of navy and white and added pops of green, stylish patterns, and unexpected artwork to create a fresh bright space. Grasscloth on the back of the built in bookshelves and console table along with rattan and the bentwood side table add warm texture. Finishes and furnishings were selected with a practicality to fit their lifestyle and the connection to the outdoors. A large sectional along with the custom cocktail table in the living room area provide ample room for game night or a quiet evening watching movies with the kids. Inspiration for a small eclectic kitchen remodel in Kansas City

Reflecting the classic design of the home and yard, a nearly symmetrical pool, lounge area and outdoor kitchen design creates a space of tranquility for this Long Island, NY family. The stone-lined pool design stretches between a sun-filled lounge area and a naturally shaded spot for rest and swimming. Designers surrounded the poolside and patio with Unilock Beacon Hill Smooth in warm grays and tans, complementing the tones of the home and nearby gardens. Both the patio stairs and pool coping feature the use of Unilock Ledgestone. In addition to the aesthetically balanced design, this backyard haven also includes many hosting oppurtunties. A stylish stone grilling station includes both a grill and mini-fridge as well as a prepping counter for barbecuing and bartending. In the evenings or fall afternoons, guests can perch alongside the elegant fire pit, designed to seamlessly blend with the surrounding stone design and blues of the nearby water. Long afternoons of swimming, hosting and dining can be enjoyed in this fully restructured Long Island backyard.

The catering kitchen was completely transformed by removing the 'mudroom' area to create room for a large prep, storage, and cooking areas. The new space is hosts a custom Cremone-bolted dish cabinet, wine cooler, and double panel fridge /freezer. It has a large farmhouse sink and plenty of storage for prepping for large catering events and parties.

The clients asked for a welcoming beachside home perfect for hosting friends and family by creating an open floor plan in which indoor and outdoor spaces would blend together seamlessly. They wanted the look to be upscale and tailored while remaining comfortable, coastal, and family-oriented.

The goal for this kitchen was to create a beautiful and functional place that better matched the family needs. The owners said that there was not enough space for cooking and hosting large parties. The existing kitchen’s layout didn’t allow for more space and openness. We decided to remove the wall between the kitchen and dining area to allow us to enlarge their kitchen and bring in an abundance of sunlight. Alder wood cabinetry created a traditional, cozy feeling while the large island is ideal for cooking and hosting large gatherings. The pantry cabinets were designed with roll-outs, ample amount of drawers, and tray dividers which all provides easy access and organization. The upper glass doors cabinets adds a feeling of elegance. We’re happy to say that the clients are very excited to enjoy the luxury of their new, functional kitchen that is filled with lots of light that can be enjoyed by the entire family. Built on a unique shaped lot our Wheeler Home hosts a large courtyard and a primary suite on the main level. At 2,400 sq ft, 3 bedrooms, and 2.5 baths the floor plan includes; open concept living, dining, and kitchen, a small office off the front of the home, a detached two car garage, and lots of indoor-outdoor space for a small city lot. This plan also includes a third floor bonus room that could be finished at a later date. We worked within the Developer and Neighborhood Specifications. The plans are now a part of the Wheeler District Portfolio in Downtown OKC.
