This kitchen was given a full renovation by our Chicago design-build team. We maintained the former peninsula layout that accommodated a breakfast nook, and the stove and dishwasher were placed in the same location as before. We moved the refrigerator and installed a microwave above the existing exhaust fan, and added finishing touches like new recessed lighting, LED undercabinet lighting, and lights above the peninsula. A custom black walnut island, is the focal point in this remodel. Three rooms were combined into one with a bonus walk-in pantry.

A retro 1950’s kitchen featuring green custom colored cabinets with glass door mounts, under cabinet lighting, pullout drawers, and Lazy Susans. To contrast with the green we added in red window treatments, a toaster oven, and other small red polka dot accessories. A few final touches we made include a retro fridge, retro oven, retro dishwasher, an apron sink, light quartz countertops, a white subway tile backsplash, and retro tile flooring. Townhouse renovation in Brooklyn: We redesigned the rear end of the house as an expanded family kitchen with a back door to the deck. We also added a new connection from the entrance hall to the kitchen and fit a small powder room under the stairs. The old windows and doors were replaced with new, larger ones, and the entire kitchen was gutted and refitted with new cabinetry and a banquette dining area. The space was designed to take advantage of the bright southern exposure, with lots of white materials, grounded by the dark base cabinets. Photos by Maletz Design

The master bedroom of this home is full of exciting colors and textures. The dark walls allow the bed to stand out while the rug and pillows add pops of color and texture. Brad Knipstein was the photographer.
