MA Peterson www.mapeterson.com The true centerpiece of this project is the rift sawn oak, which we used for the custom cabinetry throughout as well as on the artisan hand-chipped, carved kitchen island. Compared to traditional plain and quarter-sawn styles, rift sawn wood is less common and simply put, exquisite. The milling is done perpendicular to growth rings, producing a grain pattern with no flecking, a unique linear look, and impressive dimensional stability. The delicate, complementary tones of the oak floor pull everything together in a quiet harmony, and slate backsplash adds its own brand of dimensional interest and beauty. Accommodating the owner's desire for premier details, we also designed a custom steel hood for the cooktop and carefully selected fine quality dining stools to accompany the center island.

Inspiration for a scandinavian bathroom remodel in San Francisco

This detached custom designed garage and upstairs living suite had to both our client’s existing custom home and stand on its own as a feature within the landscape and the upscale Main Line neighborhood located outside of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Balancing traditional architectural design with a modern architectural feel, this new building is full of detailed surprises. It features the very best in updated building materials and amenities including real stone veneer, fire rated glass walls, a custom built stairway, a full featured kitchen with guest quarters, and a large sweeping balcony which takes in the artisanal, hand crafted stone walls and lush outdoor gardens. This beautiful impressive building not only enhances our client’s lifestyle, storing his collectible cars and providing a fully stocked retreat, it also stretches the masterful setting of the entire estate.

CKM Home Design took the sleek, stark space from a blank canvas to a warm mixed media masterpiece by adding layers of texture, color and light. The client, a fashionable and sophisticated 22-year-old aspiring actress was looking for a warm, glamorous aesthetic that melded with the building’s contemporary vibe and architecture. The space included many typical NYC apartment nuances requiring some creative design strategies and elements: one large open space living/dining area, awkward narrow nook that needed a purpose and some personality but also had some impressive design elements to maximize including the vast oversized windows and high ceilings. photo credit: peter rymwid

This new 6400 s.f. two-story split-level home lifts upward and orients toward unobstructed views of Windy Hill. The deep overhanging flat roof design with a stepped fascia preserves the classic modern lines of the building while incorporating a Zero-Net Energy photovoltaic panel system. From start to finish, the construction is uniformly energy efficient and follows California Build It Green guidelines. Attractive living as an architectural experiment: a 136-year-old water tower, a listed building with a spectacular 360-degree panorama view over the City of London. The task, to transform it into a superior residence, initially seemed an absolute impossibility. But when the owners came across architect Mike Collier, they had found a partner who was to make the impossible possible. The tower, which had been empty for decades, underwent radical renovation work and was extended by a four-storey cube containing kitchen, dining and living room - connected by glazed tunnels and a lift shaft. The kitchen, realised by Enclosure Interiors in Tunbridge Wells, Kent, with furniture from LEICHT is the very heart of living in this new building. Shiny white matt-lacquered kitchen fronts (AVANCE-LR), tone-on-tone with the worktops, reflect the light in the room and thus create expanse and openness. The surface of the handle-less kitchen fronts has a horizontal relief embossing; depending on the light incidence, this results in a vitally structured surface. The free-standing preparation isle with its vertical side panels with a seamlessly integrated sink represents the transition between kitchen and living room. The fronts of the floor units facing the dining table were extended to the floor to do away with the plinth typical of most kitchens. Ceiling-high tall units on the wall provide plenty of storage space; the electrical appliances are integrated here invisible to the eye. Floor units on a high plinth which thus appear to be floating form the actual cooking centre within the kitchen, attached to the wall.
