This gorgeous wide plank antique Oak is our most requested floor! With dramatic widths ranging from 6 to 12 inches (14 inches in some cases), you can easily bring an old-world charm into your home. This product comes to you completely pre-finished and ready to install. We start by hand sanding the surface, beveling the edges ever so slightly, and being careful to preserve the historical integrity of the planks. Typically, about 80% of your flooring will be "Smooth" with the remaining 20% having a slight texture from the original saw kerfs. This material will also have nail holes, knots, and checks which only adds to the unique character. Next, we apply Waterlox, a tung oil based sealant with or without stain added. Finally, 3 coats of Vermont Polywhey finish are added with a hand buffing between coats. The result is a luxurious satiny finish that you can only get from Historic Flooring! Pool is an all-tile pool with four kinds of tile - large format to look like steel, river pebbles on floor and walls, wood planking style tile on steps to match IPE wood on deck and jumping platform and glass tile for color. Pool is 10' deep throughout.

Master Bathroom features a Japanese soaker tub, enlarged shower with 4 1/2" x 12" white subway tile on walls, niche and celling., dark gray 2" x 2" shower floor tile with Schluter tiled drain, floor to ceiling shower glass, and quartz waterfall knee wall cap with integrated seat and curb cap. Floor has dark gray 12" x 24" tile on Schluter heated floor and same tile on tub wall surround with wall niche. Shower, tub and vanity plumbing fixtures and accessories are Delta Champagne Bronze. Vanity is custom built with quartz countertop and backsplash, undermount oval sinks, wall mounted faucets, wood framed mirrors and open wall medicine cabinet.

DM Designs - Chicago Design Objective: Convert a studio on the 87th floor of the John Hancock Building into a sophisticated, playful, elegant Mad Men-esque Mens Club / Pied a Terre. This was a complete gut renovation. Our inspiration was the vintage orange tweed sofa the client had purchased for the space. We wanted classy, not kitschy, so designing the "bones" of the condo in timeless and elegant materials was essential. To ground the space and make a dramatic first impression, we selected reclaimed hardwood flooring from a 1800 French Chateau and laid it on the timeless and classic herringbone pattern. From there, we added seagrass wallpaper, custom wood paneled walls, vintage gun and decorative mirrors from the 1970's for the kitchen backsplash and added classic furnishings such as the Platner dining table and black tulip chairs. The coolest feature by far was the custom bookshelf/hidden door we designed to create a library foyer that masked the entry to the bathroom. Inside the bathroom, we converted a vintage, mid century modern bar cabinet into a vanity complete with a honey onyx countertop that lights up from within when you enter the space. Completing the space overall is a framed, original Men's Club Charter that greets you upon entry and that belonged to the client's father.

Design: One SEED Architecture + Interiors (www.oneseed.ca) Photography: Eric Scott Photography (www.ericscottphotography.com) Builder: Vertical Grain Projects (verticalgrainprojects.com) The 1 000SF, two bed and two bath condo was a true fixer-upper with outdated finishes and a floor plan that needed refinement. The suite was gutted down to concrete and studs, taking down several walls in the process. The design was influenced by the character and materials of a converted New York loft, and using the vernacular West Coast Modern language, it was infused with warm wood accents, exposed concrete, and framed views of the North Shore mountains.
