The original house at this estate had builder-grade characteristics, so we took many of the walls down to create a more open layout.
This immediately modernized the house and allowed for a more comfortable, contemporary flow for the homeowner. The unique design choices: gray cabinetry in the kitchen, dark gray doors, rooms painted eggplant and even black, along with ornate, high-end light fixtures, wallpaper and wall coverings, combine for real standout moments in every room. Yet the overall feel of the home remains cozy and inviting.

Adamick Architecture designed the renovation and camelback addition to this beautiful single-family residence. The goal of the project was to keep the historic characteristics of the building while modernizing the structure. The building had a number of rear additions that were in disrepair, and these were removed at the outset of the project. This building had a very unique cruciform footprint that was preserved during the renovation. We were able to maintain many of the historic features throughout the house and maintain the original charm of the unique architectural detailing. Adamick Architecture developed a beautiful summer den on the ground floor with a covered porch that opens to the rear yard. Features to note include a half-bathroom tucked away under the stairs, plenty of closet space, a charming laundry room, and retained pocket doors. The contractor of record was Dixie Construction.

Designed by London-based architecture firm Alma-nac, the property, which is called the Split House, replaces a 1950’s bungalow and run-down barn in the village of Fairlight, on the southern coast of England. The owners wanted to create a highly sustainable home which took advantage of its hilltop location. As a result, architect firm Alma-nac designed the property to extend out in three different directions, providing stunning views of the sea and nearby Dungeness headland.
The architects specified Accoya to construct the external windows, window reveals and doors for the stylish property. 38 Accoya fixed and opening windows were installed, as well as 22 glazed door leafs. The doors and windows will require little maintenance over their lifetime due to the process in which the wood is made. The acetylation process, which is used to toughen the wood, delivers outstanding levels of performance, stability and durability.
Caspar Rodgers from Alma-nac commented: “We chose Accoya because we wanted to build using eco-friendly materials that could withstand the variable weather conditions that are characteristic of England’s southern coast. Accoya is well-respected within the industry as a highly sustainable product that has high levels of durability and stability so we knew it would be the ideal material for the job.”

NEOLITH collection inspired by the most exclusive marbles available in the market, enhances the beauty and functionality of any given space where it is applied, thanks to its unmatched design richness and advanced technical characteristics. Available in 9 different models.

Focus was placed on the aesthetic, as well as on the function. One important characteristic of the project was conceiving the house as a refuge, a cozy place after a tiring day of work and an oasis of silence in the urban chaos.
Personality and individuality were infused by custom made furniture (adjusted to the dimensions of the rooms for rational use of space), well-chosen statement furniture pieces (dining table, wall clock, lighting, nightstands, vanity desk chair, etc.) and attention to details.
Breaking the monotony was accomplished by unexpected combinations of textures and materials: slate on the furniture fronts, wood, painted MDF, cow leather carpet.
The main stylistic direction is given by elegant lines that evoke Classicism but strongly anchored into the present day, while at the same time maintaining simple and clean graphics.
Good communication with the beneficiaries led to an interior design concept that emphasizes the qualities of their home.

Transparency thanks to the high proportion of clear glass, the straight, clean lines of the steel frame, maximum quietness, perfect closing and the minimal amount of strength needed for opening – these are the characteristics of the interior frame system used by LEICHT. Naturally in conjunction with a high loading capacity. Used throughout in drawers, front and inner pullouts. Integrated recessed handles allow convenient operation even with handle-less fronts. The Casa de Casey takes its place among the graceful and genteel tradition of Santa Barbara architecture. Located in a secreted area of Montecito, the house is tucked amidst a wooded glen along a riparian creek bed. Carefully sited at the top of a rolling green, the building provides a strong form in the natural landscape.
With its reference to historical precedent, the house is both undeniably familiar and tangibly rich. Site sensitivity and pure spatial relationships combine in new ways, showing that what’s old can be new again.
An entry courtyard concealed behind a pair of wooden doors of Moorish design begins the entry sequence. The courtyard, wrapped around an existing mature oak tree, creates an outdoor room, which establishes an interplay between interior and exterior spaces, a theme that recurs throughout the house.
An exercise in scale and proportion, the 5,000-square-foot residence is imbued with classic detail and richness found in the Spanish Colonial architecture characteristic of George Washington Smith and others. Interior spaces are created through pure and varied geometric volumes, and are elaborated by opened beamed ceilings, groin vaults and Moorish arches.

This 4,800 square-foot guesthouse is a three-story residence consisting of a main-level master suite, upper-level guest suite, and a large bunkroom. The exterior finishes were selected for their durability and low-maintenance characteristics, as well as to provide a unique, complementary element to the site. Locally quarried granite and a sleek slate roof have been united with cement fiberboard shingles, board-and-batten siding, and rustic brackets along the eaves.
The public spaces are located on the north side of the site in order to communicate with the public spaces of a future main house. With interior details picking up on the picturesque cottage style of architecture, this space becomes ideal for both large and small gatherings. Through a similar material dialogue, an exceptional boathouse is formed along the water’s edge, extending the outdoor recreational space to encompass the lake.

Housed atop a sand dune overlooking a crescent shaped beach, this updated innovative shingle style home replaced an existing vacation home our clients purchased a number of years ago. Significantly upgrading what was previously there, the single characteristic they wanted to maintain was a curved glass element that made the home distinctly identifiable from the beach. The height of the dune is unique for the area and well above flood plane which permits living space on all three levels of the home. Choreographed to fit within the natural landscape, guests entering the home from the front porch are immediately greeted with stunning views of the ocean. Delicate wood paneling and textural details are illuminated by abundant natural light flooding the home. East and West facing stairs are greeted with a wash of sunlight in the morning and evening, illuminating paths to breakfast and returning to rest. Photo by Brennan Wesley

The large vaulted ceilings draw the eye upward which is beneficial for smaller floor plans since vaulted ceilings can create the illusion of a large spacious room. The exposed beams add a tasteful characteristic which integrates with the other natural elements in the room.

Cees Braakman was one of the Dutch most influential designers. Differently from the original, the armchair on the photo above is entirely made of solid wood. Despite that, exceptional functionality and ergonomics are characteristic for this piece.

Inspired from early French and American architecture, our Opio Reclaimed Wood Round Dining Table combines modern functionality with woods reclaimed from old buildings for a found appeal that is as striking as it is livable. With unique characteristics defined by the geographic region from which the timbers originate, reclaimed pine wood is bleached, sanded and finished to heighten the woods' raw beauty. Our table’s eco-friendly, solid eucalyptus base creates a handsome contrast.
