A new mudroom through the barn door on the left took over space from the previous kitchen and now allows the homeowners to easily bring in groceries from their car. Coat hooks and shoe storage were added to create a convenient place to drop belongings as they walk in the door. Entryway - country entryway idea in Detroit

This entryway and living area are part of an adventuresome project my wife and I embarked upon to create a complete apartment in the basement of our townhouse. We designed a floor plan that creatively and efficiently used all of the 385-square-foot-space, without sacrificing beauty, comfort or function – and all without breaking the bank! To maximize our budget, we did the work ourselves and added everything from thrift store finds to DIY wall art to bring it all together. The chaise section of the couch opens to provide extra storage.

Inspiration for a timeless mudroom remodel in DC Metro

High wall cabinets were added for seasonal gear storage. Below them, two strips of hooks were added for easy coat and bag storage. Underneath the stained bench top, shoe shelves were incorporated to maximize storage. Patterned cement tile was used on the floor in a black and white repeating design.

Uttermost Riyo Hall Tree in Distressed Charcoal Honey stained, solid mango wood with hand painted, distressed charcoal gray accents, aged brass coat hooks and antiqued mirror. Seat lifts with safety hinge for storage.
