The parti of this modern home is a composition of simple volumes that maximizes a sense of openness to hilltop views while maintaining privacy from neighbors and creating distinct zones within the property.... A separate wing houses a gym area and an office for the owner’s business. The volume looks out over the mirror surface of an infinity edge lap pool hovering two inches above deck level. A square fountain conceived as an 18”-high monolithic volume of water is visible from the entry and doubles as a spa…

Set on a 15000 Sq. Ft. lot overlooking Sky Lake, this home was conceived as an intimate enclave. With a minimalistic approach, the architecture gathers strength from cantilevering planes and the innovative use of stucco textures.

Western Massachusetts American Institute of Architects, Honor Award, 2010.
With Kuhn Riddle Architects.
Inspired by the tobacco barns and farmhouses of the surrounding area, this project was designed as a sustainable spec house for Tomlinson Builders. A single-story, 2,000 sqft home with 3 bedrooms, its open floor plan and flexible layout appeal to a variety of homeowners, from new families to recent retirees.
The simple geometric forms of the home are both modern and traditional, crisp and inviting.
To maintain the natural qualities of the site, outdoor spaces were conceived as small jewels of manicured space set into an otherwise uncultivated landscape.

LANDSCAPING: Southview Design
A traditional front porch was added using all synthetic materials for long-lasting, easy maintenance. The porch design replaces the overused, ill conceived, poorly proportioned two- story front entry of the 80s and 90s with a stately flat roofed porch with pillars and rooftop balusters. It is much more keeping with the traditional style of the home.

The client had a love of craftsman architecture and requested a house appropriate to the vineyard setting but inspired by the California craftsman style. The architectural vocabulary, character, and site plan were developed from that premise.
The site plan was developed to celebrate the experience of the vineyard, native oaks and redwoods, as well as views to the hillside beyond. The house was conceived as a series of articulated pavilions around the vineyard. Secondary buildings were set in the landscape beyond, linked by gravel pathways and informal low stonewalls.

The conversion of this iconic American barn into a Writer’s Studio was conceived of as a tranquil retreat with natural light and lush views to stimulate inspiration for both husband and wife. Originally used as a garage with two horse stalls, the existing stick framed structure provided a loft with ideal space and orientation for a secluded studio. Signature barn features were maintained and enhanced such as horizontal siding, trim, large barn doors, cupola, roof overhangs, and framing. New features added to compliment the contextual significance and sustainability aspect of the project were reclaimed lumber from a razed barn used as flooring, driftwood retrieved from the shores of the Hudson River used for trim, and distressing / wearing new wood finishes creating an aged look. Along with the efforts for maintaining the historic character of the barn, modern elements were also incorporated into the design to provide a more current ensemble based on its new use. Elements such a light fixtures, window configurations, plumbing fixtures and appliances were all modernized to appropriately represent the present way of life.

Sunlit Solace is conceived as a luminous urban retreat — a duplex that balances openness with intimacy, where natural light becomes the primary material and warmth the prevailing feeling. Crisp architecture meets soft textures; expansive windows invite daylight to dance across surfaces, while layered finishes and thoughtful proportions create a home that feels both elevated and welcoming. The result is a sanctuary in the city: modern yet grounded, relaxed yet refined, where everyday rituals are bathed in light and designed for living beautifully.

BOSSA | CONCRETE
In the center of this design, conceived as the hub of daily life, is a handle less island block with integrated seating area, to which the successful real wood surface program BOSSA in walnut lends a special structure all around. The protruding, linear bars of the multi-award-winning BOSSA front create a warm, uniform overall appearance and give the kitchen a three-dimensional, very lively effect - a conscious planning decision to create an elegant as well as lively effect.

This renovation was conceived for a client with a deep appreciation for art—and an undeniable love of blue. His collection of paintings and sculptures set the tone for the entire home, inspiring a design that feels both curated and deeply personal. The kitchen became the artistic centerpiece: sleek, sculptural lines accented by warm gold detailing that plays beautifully against rich blue tones. Real quartzite countertops cascade in liquid-like waterfalls, their movement echoing the fluidity of the art that surrounds them. The result is a space that blurs the line between gallery and home—polished, expressive, and effortlessly livable.
