With the floor to ceiling windows continuing through into the bathroom, and white details throughout, the room is airy and filled with light. The sink is repurposed from a commercial building and the custom zinc medicine cabinets are extra deep and outfitted with outlets so that the bathroom clutter is contained.

Many of the interior finishes were removed to expose the wonderfully textured existing clinker brick hidden below. The brick is highlighted by continuous and unbroken concealed cove lighting and emphasized by the stark contrast with minimalist white finishes. The existing ceilings were removed and replaced with exposed steel I-beam crossties and new cathedral ceilings, with the steel beams placed sideways to provide a cavity at the top and bottom for continuous linear light strips shining up and down. Overlooking the rear garden and wetland beyond stands the conservatory, which sits as a distinct glass object on a stone base- its transparency evokes a large and limitless space within.

The owners of this home came to us with a plan to build a new high-performance home that physically and aesthetically fit on an infill lot in an old well-established neighborhood in Bellingham. The Craftsman exterior detailing, Scandinavian exterior color palette, and timber details help it blend into the older neighborhood. At the same time the clean modern interior allowed their artistic details and displayed artwork take center stage.
We started working with the owners and the design team in the later stages of design, sharing our expertise with high-performance building strategies, custom timber details, and construction cost planning. Our team then seamlessly rolled into the construction phase of the project, working with the owners and Michelle, the interior designer until the home was complete.
The owners can hardly believe the way it all came together to create a bright, comfortable, and friendly space that highlights their applied details and favorite pieces of art.

There are a few ways to get to this beautiful back porch and they all lead to the same well-crafted destination. This exterior space continues the rustic cabin theme of exposed logs, reclaimed features (like the door), and detailed stone work on the walls and floor.

The Musgrove features clean lines and beautiful symmetry. The inviting drive welcomes homeowners and guests to a front entrance flanked by columns and stonework. The main level foyer leads to a spacious sitting area, whose hearth is shared by the open dining room and kitchen. Multiple doorways give access to a sunroom and outdoor living spaces. Also on the main floor is the master suite. Upstairs, there is room for three additional bedrooms and two full baths.
