The goal of this bath was to create a spa-like feel. Opting for the dominant color of white accented by sage green contributed to the successful outcome. A 54” white vanity with double sinks topped with Carrera marble continued the monochromatic color scheme. The Eva collection of Moen brand fixtures in a brushed nickel finish were selected for the faucet, towel ring, paper holder, and towel bars. Double bands of glass mosaic tile and niche backing accented the 3x6 Brennero Carrera tile on the shower walls. A Moentrol valve faucet was installed in the shower in order to have force and flow balance.

This stunning Eastern Suburbs kitchen design comes to life at night with blue and purple 'disco strip' LED lighting under mounted in kitchen and vanities. The owners completely remodeled the home including the kitchen, ensuite and bathroom. Previously a bedroom, two walls were removed to accommodate the new kitchen to create an open plan living area and extend the overall living area. Cabinetry in Polyurethane Antique, matching Kirribilli-style cabinet doors, feature panel glass doors, Butler sink and Shaker-style handles all contribute to create a traditional style kitchen. The Calcutta marble benchtop and splashback unifies the contrasting black of the Island and kickboards. The black and white theme extends from the kitchen through to the bathroom and laundry.

The Wethersfield home is a “Contributing Structure” within one of Central Austin’s most historic neighborhoods. Thanks to the design vision and engineering of the Barley|Pfeiffer Architecture team, the fine execution and contributions of Tommy Hudson with Hudson Custom Builder, and the commitment of the Owner, the outcome is a very comfortable, healthy and nicely day lit, 1600 square foot home that is expected to have energy consumption bills 50% less than those before, despite being almost 190 square feet larger. A new kitchen was designed for better function and efficiencies. A screened-in porch makes for great outdoor living within a semi-private setting - and without the bugs! This colorful master bedroom has an orange bird wallpaper and a blue, fabric headboard. Exotic pillows contribute to this colorful space, and contrast nicely with the black and white bedding.

The guest bathroom was completely transformed with a built-in Seville slab door vanity, a shower featuring CTW Splendorous tile, and a herringbone-patterned Castelli Marble floor, all contributing to its fresh, modern look.

Long, clean lines and large windows open the space and contribute to the contemporary design theme. Looking towards the back of the house we see the kitchen, breakfast bar and dining room. The entrance to the four seasons room is to the left.

This single family home sits on a tight, sloped site. Within a modest budget, the goal was to provide direct access to grade at both the front and back of the house. The solution is a multi-split-level home with unconventional relationships between floor levels. Between the entrance level and the lower level of the family room, the kitchen and dining room are located on an interstitial level. Within the stair space “floats” a small bathroom. The generous stair is celebrated with a back-painted red glass wall which treats users to changing refractive ambient light throughout the house. Black brick, grey-tinted glass and mirrors contribute to the reasonably compact massing of the home. A cantilevered upper volume shades south facing windows and the home’s limited material palette meant a more efficient construction process. Cautious landscaping retains water run-off on the sloping site and home offices reduce the client’s use of their vehicle. The house achieves its vision within a modest footprint and with a design restraint that will ensure it becomes a long-lasting asset in the community. Photo by Tom Arban
