This project was for a long time client of mine who lives in a wonderful patio home with a finished basement. There were several challenges with which to contend. First, as you enter the Foyer, all of the spaces are open to each other so we had to make sure everything worked together. Second, furniture arrangement had always been a struggle for the large living area with the fireplace on an angled corner wall and large built-in. Last, although the homeowner loves color – especially blue/greens – we had to convince her to bring it into her home as an accent and make it work with the other spaces.
We started with a neutral sofa positioned across from the built-ins and paired it with a settee in a blue/green fabric. The settee does not block the fireplace and reinforces our color scheme. The homeowner upgraded her husband’s chair and ottoman with a contemporary leather one, and we added a perfectly scaled swivel chair to the corner next to the built-ins. We finished off the space with a mixture of unique accent tables including a beautiful coffee table with wood inlay, a small metal french drink table, a two-tiered egg shaped table, and a pedestal table with marble top. We added lighting, artwork and accessories to the built-ins and tables to complete the space. We also added blue/green accessories to the breakfast area to make the spaces flow seamlessly.
We love how these spaces in the Open Concept Redesign turned out. It is a very pleasing palette that does not overwhelm the spaces, but adds interest. Enjoy!

When you are a bachelor and you live in a big ole' house, why not turn the formal living room into a billiards room/cigar lounge? What was once a "blah" white-painted brick fireplace now has a little "edge" courtesy of a coat of black paint. A big screen t.v. for hockey games, leather chairs, a wide variety of scotch, Cuban cigars and a vintage pool table provide the perfect setting for a party. The room is an odd "L" shape, so there wasn't much of an option aside from putting in a pool table. At least, that's what we convinced ourselves of. And "no", that's not a real ivory tusk on the mantel. It's fake and made of many pieces of bone.

The original door had years and years of cracking paint. We convinced the owner to re-use the old closet door instead, and with a little elbow grease to rework the hinges and lock set, success! It looks beautiful. All window and door trim was custom to match the original.

BAHIA is also convincing in terms of the overall appearance of the surface itself: the grooves are arranged asymmetrically and feature a sophisticated black finish, creating an exciting, vibrant, and contemporary look. The fanning out of the grooves is individually defined for each front width to create a harmonious transition between the individual furniture surfaces. The veneer selection is deliberately oriented towards dark-stained woods and is thus a perfect match for the black grooves and wooden edges. The resulting slight difference, in contrast, underlines the elegance of BAHIA on the one hand and defines the exclusion of light wood on the other.

Influenced by classic Nordic design. Surprisingly flexible with furnishings. Amplify by continuing the clean modern aesthetic, or punctuate with statement pieces.

Presenting a quality product is an essential item for any professional who wants to stand out in the market today.
You need to go beyond feasibility studies and project design to get customer approval.
And we know that a good part of this convincing process occurs in a visual way, where the professional and client can clearly understand the final result of the project.
Maybe that's exactly why 3D Rendering has been drawing so much attention from architects, engineers and interior designers to be used as a marketing tool.

A naturalized waterfall drops delightfully into a reflecting pond. The -----stone waterfall shares an uneven border of -----stone with the nearby -----paver patio. A hillside planting of colorful perennials and flowing grasses complete this convincing cascading creation.

These clients (who were referred by their realtor) are lucky enough to escape the brutal Minnesota winters. They trusted the PID team to remodel their home with Landmark Remodeling while they were away enjoying the sun and escaping the pains of remodeling... dust, noise, so many boxes.
The clients wanted to update without a major remodel. They also wanted to keep some of the warm golden oak in their space...something we are not used to!
We laded on painting the cabinetry, new counters, new back splash, lighting, and floors.
We also refaced the corner fireplace in the living room with a natural stacked stone and mantle.
The powder bath got a little facelift too and convinced another victim... we mean the client that wallpaper was a must.

When clients in Williamsburg, Va. Purchased a brick ranch, built in the late 80’s They knew they were in for a total gut rehab. The kitchen had been updated but consisted of reddish stained oak cabinets, Corian counters, and soffits galore. The room was separated by a peninsula with a cook top, creating a U-shaped configuration. It was not only dated but separated the room from the breakfast area. One wall consisted of wall ovens, a pantry, and a built-in desk space. Although, we were constrained to a tight budget, they specifically requested the house not have a traditional colonial vibe, common to the locality. Once we convinced the husband that it was paramount to remove walls, we were able to reimagine the space. The wall ovens were replaced with a single range, the refrigerator was placed on the same wall as the sink and the soffits were removed. With a tight budget, custom cabinets were not an option. Instead, they purchased stock cabinets that were painted a cool gray and the new island is stained in a natural finish .
Typically, I don’t recycle products amongst clients, but these pendants have proven otherwise. After installing them in my own kitchen, I’ve had 3 other client requests for the same pair. Obviously, they don’t disappoint as they are the crown jewels of the kitchen.

This is a beautiful pole swag in a dining room. The client, at first, wanted to treat the windows as two but I convinced her to treat them as one. The continous look turned out great and even made the room feel larger.

We chose a more neutral couch - which also took a little convincing - but you can see how the color in the pillow just pop against it. The other bonus of a neutral sofa, is if the client gets tired of these pillows, she's got lots of options for change!

This was a screen porch with double French doors opening into the dining room and a single door opening into the kitchen. I sat down and had a little chat with my client.. I told him that he rarely enjoyed using the porch for the summers are so hot and the winters are so cold. I convinced him to close it in. We hired an artist to come in and stain the floor a checker-board pattern. My client spends most of his time here now... with all windows, the view of his gardens are stunning. He had a medium size flat screen TV installed up in the corner. My client is very, very happy!

Nestled on the shore of New Hampshire’s Lake Winnipesaukee, is a family’s winter ski retreat. Contrary to the norm, this vacation home sees more use in the winter months than in the summer season. Breathtaking views of Mount Washington against a backdrop of shoreline dominate the scene; this vista was a driving force in the decision-making process. Doors and windows on the lakeside of the house were enlarged and expanded on to enhance the owners’ appreciation of their vantage point. The homeowners embraced, with a bit of convincing, a dark blue trim color for the exterior rather than the ubiquitous forest green common in the White Mountains. What began as a small renovation project morphed into a full renovation; the location warranted the upgrade. The client’s trust in the design team resulted in a home that is unique: contemporary while still offering the warmth and coziness of a winter retreat. The introduction of soft wood tones, a custom copper kitchen hood, and a warm muted color palate for interior trim and doors brings a coziness to the space without evoking a mountain ski lodge. The materials chosen further enhanced the natural elements of the site location: organic features include an antler chandelier, salvaged wood throughout for the mantel, ceilings, stair newels, and interior barn doors, and a live edge built-in bench in the mudroom.
Spaces were designed to encourage family interaction and togetherness. The importance of solitude was thoughtfully crafted into the architecture and interiors of the family’s vacation home. SV Design made sure there were spaces where individual family members can pursue their own interests: a dedicated craft space, a family office, and a kids’ loft area.
The redesign was forward thinking, to take the family into future phases in life, from the current teenage years through college years, and into the beyond of expanded family possibilities.
