C.H. Burnham Inc. was brought in by a fellow general contractor, who after being given more work, was not given any more time to complete the project. We stepped in, created a plan to address the unique situation and got to work. Due to the location of the fountain and the neighbor wanting to preserve their fence, the forming of the fountain was a challenge. In lieu of traditional methods, we used threaded bolts to hold the forms together and braced them, not only to absorb the outward pressure on one side but to support the entire form. Designed by Siol Studios, this was not an ordinary fountain. The various design elements – from the vertical and horizontal reveals to the waterproof troughs – everything required finish carpentry precision. As you will see in the final photo, our adherence to those tolerances made this more water sculpture than fountain.

Our design team created a concept of a “Water-wise Tropical Paradise”, bursting with color, shiny textures, lush foliage, and small palm tree varieties. Turf was converted to garden beds, and low-volume, low-pressure drip irrigation was installed.

Our team built a set of gradual stairs leading from the inside of the home out to the new living space consisting of a firepit and covered eating pavilion. The outdoor living patio made of bluestone pavers sits on the left side of the yard, and in a circular shape. In the middle of the circular patio is a gas-piped fire pit perfect for enjoying the cooler fall weather. To the right of the patio, our team built a new eating pavilion with a covered pergola, creating a functional yet beautiful outdoor eating space. Our clients wanted this new covered outdoor eating area to be usable rain or shine! For this space, our team used pressure treated wood finished with a natural stain, topped off with a rubber sealant on the top to protect from the New England elements.

For this expansion, we constructed a pressure-treated wood decking structure, and created the deck with clear cedar decking. To offer ultimate protection on the expansion, these homeowners chose to add a custom cedar pergola with a Topgal polycarbonate roof, rather than typical pergola louvers.

This elevated wood deck makes for a great outdoor retreat for these home owners. The deck features pressure treated pine decking with Archadeck’s signature Lifestyle rails. The rails feature post caps which creates an interesting detail to this classic project. The deck also features a sweep space which is a great feature to keep out leaves and debris. This deck makes for a great area to dine and grill on a summer day, while enjoying the beautiful view! Beautiful, expansive bluestone patio, dry-stack terracing, boulder caps. Extensive regrading and re-working of the back yard which had a significant drop off. In order to create the space we had to completely terraform the space. The walkways are bordered with 4x4 pressure treated wood, staked into the ground, continuing the gorgeous bluestone all around the house. The front garden bed was also redesigned with river rock, boulders, and trees to be planted in the Spring.
