Maximizing space, modifications to windows and moving a doorway gave our client a baker’s dream kitchen without adding an addition to the home. The underutilized sunroom became the designated expansive space with its own pantry for baking. The second island in this space was designed with a 30” tall baking island rather than a standard height counter allowing for perfect leverage and pressure on dough while kneading. Our client wanted the induction cooktop, with a retractable hood, on the island so she could look out to the family room while she cooks. This expansive and beautiful kitchen, newly vaulted ceilings with hemlock beams, and a seating area with a built-in desk created a warm and wonderful space for the family to enjoy.

Just like a fading movie star, this master bathroom had lost its glamorous luster and was in dire need of new look. Gone are the old "Hollywood style make up lights and black vanity" replaced with freestanding vanity furniture and mirrors framed by crystal tipped sconces. A soft and serene gray and white color scheme creates Thymeless elegance with subtle colors and materials. Urban gray vanities with Carrara marble tops float against a tiled wall of large format subway tile with a darker gray porcelain “marble” tile accent. Recessed medicine cabinets provide extra storage for this “his and hers” design. A lowered dressing table and adjustable mirror provides seating for “hair and makeup” matters. A fun and furry poof brings a funky edge to the space designed for a young couple looking for design flair. The angular design of the Brizo faucet collection continues the transitional feel of the space. The freestanding tub by Oceania features a slim design detail which compliments the design theme of elegance. The tub filler was placed in a raised platform perfect for accessories or the occasional bottle of champagne. The tub space is defined by a mosaic tile which is the companion tile to the main floor tile. The detail is repeated on the shower floor. The oversized shower features a large bench seat, rain head shower, handheld multifunction shower head, temperature and pressure balanced shower controls and recessed niche to tuck bottles out of sight. The 2-sided glass enclosure enlarges the feel of both the shower and the entire bathroom.

The shower bathroom floor is a mosaic tile in infinity cosmic that perfectly contrasts with the shower base tile in Metallica Lite Ice. The chrome finishes and glass shelving provide the sleek & exquisite ambiance the client was searching for. The custom raised white finish cabinetry to the far left of the picture give the updated space the stylish organization that was lacking previously. The shower lever had been placed on the opposite side of the pressure balancing shower faucet to create a twist on customary look and feel of most bathroom showers. C.H. Burnham Inc. was brought in by a fellow general contractor, who after being given more work, was not given any more time to complete the project. We stepped in, created a plan to address the unique situation and got to work. Due to the location of the fountain and the neighbor wanting to preserve their fence, the forming of the fountain was a challenge. In lieu of traditional methods, we used threaded bolts to hold the forms together and braced them, not only to absorb the outward pressure on one side but to support the entire form. Designed by Siol Studios, this was not an ordinary fountain. The various design elements – from the vertical and horizontal reveals to the waterproof troughs – everything required finish carpentry precision. As you will see in the final photo, our adherence to those tolerances made this more water sculpture than fountain.

Our client reached out to Finesse, Inc. looking for a pet sanctuary for their two cats. A design was created to allow the fur-babies to enter and exit without the assistance of their humans. A cat door was placed an the exterior wall and a 30" x 80" door was added so that family can enjoy the beautiful outdoors together. A pet friendly turf, designed especially with paw consideration, was selected and installed. The enclosure was built as a "stand alone" structure and can be easily dismantled and transferred in the event of a move in the future. Rob Kramig, Los Angeles

Our Pasadena studio transformed this 1908 carriage house for our clients, a husband-and-wife team who own a leading Family Law practice in Pasadena. We created an inspiring workspace that doubles as a craft area, promising to boost energy and promote relaxation. We started with Thibaut's eye-catching Dynasty collection wallcovering, which served as an inspiration for the space and satisfied the client's love of mood-boosting color. Charming floral-inspired hardware from Modern Matter (with original roots as a jewelry atelier) serves as a nod to the client's love of fine detail and complements the room's botanical wallcovering. In this home renovation, we were hired to project manage and design a new kitchen, mudroom, first floor bathroom, and guest bathroom. We were also hired to stage the entire house for sale. The final result was a white kitchen and white subway tiled bathroom which created a clean and fresh modern feel even though the house was originally from the 1890s. DOWNLOAD NOW   This charming little attic bath was an infrequently used guest bath located on the 3rd floor right above the master bath that we were also remodeling. The beautiful original leaded glass windows open to a view of the park and small lake across the street. A vintage claw foot tub sat directly below the window. This is where the charm ended though as everything was sorely in need of updating. From the pieced-together wall cladding to the exposed electrical wiring and old galvanized plumbing, it was in definite need of a gut job. Plus the hardwood flooring leaked into the bathroom below which was priority one to fix. Once we gutted the space, we got to rebuilding the room. We wanted to keep the cottage-y charm, so we started with simple white herringbone marble tile on the floor and clad all the walls with soft white shiplap paneling. A new clawfoot tub/shower under the original window was added. Next, to allow for a larger vanity with more storage, we moved the toilet over and eliminated a mish mash of storage pieces. We discovered that with separate hot/cold supplies that were the only thing available for a claw foot tub with a shower kit, building codes require a pressure balance valve to prevent scalding, so we had to install a remote valve. We learn something new on every job! There is a view to the park across the street through the home’s original custom shuttered windows. Can’t you just smell the fresh air? We found a vintage dresser and had it lacquered in high gloss black and converted it into a vanity. The clawfoot tub was also painted black. Brass lighting, plumbing and hardware details add warmth to the room, which feels right at home in the attic of this traditional home. We love how the combination of traditional and charming come together in this sweet attic guest bath. Truly a room with a view!
