Open Kitchen with large island. Two-tone cabinetry with decorative end panels. White quartz counters with stainless steel hood and brass pendant light fixtures.

The Grandmother’s room leans more towards minimalism. The color palette brings a sense of calm and serenity to this bedroom. The upholstered luxury headboard creates a contrast with the walnut panels. For visual interest, we incorporated subtle patterns in the wallpaper, pillows, and a rug that is the highlight of the room. Few plants and décor items keep the room décor crisp and minimal.

This 400 s.f. studio apartment in NYC’s Greenwich Village serves as a pied-a-terre
for clients whose primary residence is on the West Coast.
Although the clients do not reside here full-time, this tiny space accommodates
all the creature comforts of home.
Bleached hardwood floors, crisp white walls, and high ceilings are the backdrop to
a custom blackened steel and glass partition, layered with raw silk sheer draperies,
to create a private sleeping area, replete with custom built-in closets.
Simple headboard and crisp linens are balanced with a lightly-metallic glazed
duvet and a vintage textile pillow.
The living space boasts a custom Belgian linen sectional sofa that pulls out into a
full-size bed for the couple’s young children who sometimes accompany them.
Efficient and inexpensive dining furniture sits comfortably in the main living space
and lends clean, Scandinavian functionality for sharing meals. The sculptural
handrafted metal ceiling mobile offsets the architecture’s clean lines, defining the
space while accentuating the tall ceilings.
The kitchenette combines custom cool grey lacquered cabinets with brass fittings,
white beveled subway tile, and a warm brushed brass backsplash; an antique
Boucherouite runner and textural woven stools that pull up to the kitchen’s
coffee counter puntuate the clean palette with warmth and the human scale.
The under-counter freezer and refrigerator, along with the 18” dishwasher, are all
panelled to match the cabinets, and open shelving to the ceiling maximizes the
feeling of the space’s volume.
The entry closet doubles as home for a combination washer/dryer unit.
The custom bathroom vanity, with open brass legs sitting against floor-to-ceiling
marble subway tile, boasts a honed gray marble countertop, with an undermount
sink offset to maximize precious counter space and highlight a pendant light. A
tall narrow cabinet combines closed and open storage, and a recessed mirrored
medicine cabinet conceals additional necessaries.
The stand-up shower is kept minimal, with simple white beveled subway tile and
frameless glass doors, and is large enough to host a teak and stainless bench for
comfort; black sink and bath fittings ground the otherwise light palette.
What had been a generic studio apartment became a rich landscape for living.

This early 90's contemporary home was in need of some major updates and when my clients purchased it they were ready to make it their own. The home features large open rooms, great natural light and stunning views of Lake Washington. These clients love bold vibrant colors and clean modern lines so the goal was to incorporate those in the design without it overwhelming the space. Balance was key. The end goal was for the home to feel open and airy yet warm and inviting. This was achieved by bringing in punches of color to an otherwise white or neutral palate. Texture and visual interest were achieved throughout the house through the use of wallpaper, fabrics, and a few one of a kind artworks.

Eat-in kitchen - small contemporary u-shaped light wood floor eat-in kitchen idea in Denver with stainless steel appliances, a single-bowl sink, recessed-panel cabinets, white cabinets, solid surface countertops, white backsplash, ceramic backsplash and no island

We removed a wall that closed in the kitchen and blocked outdoor views. The rich marble backsplash over the sink has natural marble variations in a herringbone pattern, adding texture and movement. The refrigerator and dishwasher are integrated into the cabinetry with matching panels.

Below the countertop, crisp white shaker-style cabinetry provides generous storage. A thoughtful open shelving unit at the end of the vanity offers accessible storage for decorative baskets, adding both functionality and visual interest. The cabinetry is finished with sleek, brushed nickel hardware.

This angle highlights the seamless kitchen workflow, with the stainless steel gas range, vent hood, and refrigerator strategically placed for efficiency. The white mosaic tile backsplash adds texture and visual interest, complementing the crisp white cabinetry and quartz countertops.

Notice the clever cabinet faced-refrigerator at the back of the kitchen -- yes, that's a refrigerator! - artfully concealed with the same cabinet facing used throughout the rest of the kitchen. Designer Ellen Hanson identified this as a way to cut down on the visual distractions in a small kitchen space.
Working with Ellen Hanson of Pansy Bayou, we maximized impact in the kitchen by installing extra-tall cabinets to utilize the great ceiling height of this historic bungalow. After doing away with the beyond dated pink tile originally used in the kitchen, we added gorgeous white subway tile backsplash to keep visuals crisp and uncluttered.

Cool blues tones and clean, crisp white cabinets make this kitchen clean and updated. To add visual interest to this kitchen, our designers added an accent glass tile row to the backslash.
