Traditional and elegant styling was one of the primary criteria in adding additional storage to this home office. The homeowners didn't want the space to feel like an office. A couple wanted to recover their overgrown backyard and create their own country-style retreat inside the city. The project included spatial planning to carve out three distinct spaces for the couple--a hardscaped patio with a grill and chaise-lounge chairs, a dining area surrounded by a small vegetable garden, and an outdoor entertaining space. More Wow's partners conducted extensive weeding for the client. We designed all of the spaces as well as the plant selection based on a variety of criteria, including plant blooming timelines, and managed the installation of the plants in the space as well as the furniture purchasing. The majority of the budget for this project was put into the planning, plant procurement, and actual landscaping, with minimal budget allocated for actual furniture per client priorities.

This project is a simple update of a hall bathroom in a 100 year old West Chester row home. The space had last been updated in the 80’s, and needed a facelift. The client had a vision of a tranquil space with a spa-vibe and modern, beachy colors. But a tight budget required very careful planning. Design Criteria - Design a light, modern/transitional style bathroom. - Update all the fixtures and finishes - Bring it in on a tight budget. Special Features: - Subway tile and glass mosaic tub surround. - Granite-topped vanity. - Re-enameled the original cast iron tub as a less expensive alternative to a replacement.

design: Studio TOOP, 2008 location: Amersfoort, NL status: built in 2010, Vaate Hoveniers and DIY photos: Jolanthe Lalkens, 2012 This design is based on a series of concentric circles in alternating benches and walls. This makes the garden graphically interesting from above and allows for a large amount of integrated seating (both important criteria for the design). Contrasting with this clean graphic element is the rough texture of the broken cement pavers and the organic lines of the planting beds. The existing field maple is used as a focal point and gives the garden an intimate, mature quality. Despite that there is only one tree, the garden feels somehow like the woods.
