Here's the concept of a river. It starts at the far end of the remodel as a trickle over the doorway & continues as a steam in the foyer & then deltas around the island; culminating as a waterfall. Black Olive Photography

With a touch of glamour and a nod to historical European design, this stunning master bathroom remodel is the culmination of years of dreaming for this client who had meticulously researched and planned nearly every design detail she wanted to incorporate. Each element has a significance behind it and underscores the passion our client has for the Classicism period of design and we were honored to bring her vision to life. From the crown molding and fluted pilasters, to the Schonbek chandelier and sconces with Swarovski crystals, and subtle “aging in place” details that the untrained eye would never know were there, every inch of this beautiful space was designed with careful thought and love.

This project showcases a grand custom water feature, beginning with an impressive water wall that flows down through multiple basins, culminating in a vast pond. It is accentuated by several large concrete pads that appear to float over the water, serving as stepping stones to the network of pathways weaving through the yard. Modern and elegant materials were meticulously selected to complement the design, including sleek finishes that enhance the feature's contemporary aesthetic. To highlight the space and integrate it seamlessly with the natural surroundings, a variety of native grasses and plants were chosen, adding both beauty and ecological benefits to the landscape.

Rustic Farmhouse: Garvin-Weeks Farmstead The Garvin-Weeks Farmstead in beautiful North Reading, built c1790, has enjoyed a first floor makeover complete with a new kitchen, family room and master suite. Particular attention was given to preserve the historic details of the house while modernizing and opening up the space for today’s lifestyle. The open concept farmhouse style kitchen is striking with its antique beams and rafters, handmade and hand planed cabinets, distressed floors, custom handmade soapstone farmer’s sink, marble counter tops, kitchen island comprised of reclaimed wood with a milk paint finish, all setting the stage for the elaborate custom painted tile work. Skylights above bathe the space in natural light. Walking through the warm family room gives one the sense of history and days gone by, culminating in a quintessential looking, but fabulously updated new England master bedroom and bath. Avec Interiors, together with our valued client and builder partner 5blox, rejuvenates a dated and narrow and poorly functioning 90s bathroom. The project culminates in a tranquil sanctuary that epitomizes quiet luxury. The redesign features a custom oak vanity with an integrated hamper and extensive storage, polished nickel finishes, and artfully placed decorative wall niches. Functional elements harmoniously blend with aesthetic details, such as the captivating blue-green shower tile and the charming mini stars and cross tiles adorning both the floor and niches.

A tea pot, being a vessel, is defined by the space it contains, it is not the tea pot that is important, but the space. Crispin Sartwell Located on a lake outside of Milwaukee, the Vessel House is the culmination of an intense 5 year collaboration with our client and multiple local craftsmen focused on the creation of a modern analogue to the Usonian Home. As with most residential work, this home is a direct reflection of it’s owner, a highly educated art collector with a passion for music, fine furniture, and architecture. His interest in authenticity drove the material selections such as masonry, copper, and white oak, as well as the need for traditional methods of construction. The initial diagram of the house involved a collection of embedded walls that emerge from the site and create spaces between them, which are covered with a series of floating rooves. The windows provide natural light on three sides of the house as a band of clerestories, transforming to a floor to ceiling ribbon of glass on the lakeside. The Vessel House functions as a gallery for the owner’s art, motorcycles, Tiffany lamps, and vintage musical instruments – offering spaces to exhibit, store, and listen. These gallery nodes overlap with the typical house program of kitchen, dining, living, and bedroom, creating dynamic zones of transition and rooms that serve dual purposes allowing guests to relax in a museum setting. Through it’s materiality, connection to nature, and open planning, the Vessel House continues many of the Usonian principles Wright advocated for. A spectacular custom wine cellar with floor-to-ceiling racking built from Natural Alder Wood with Clear Finish. The central display shelves culminate in an arch and feature recessed lighting. The Ceramistone limestone backsplash adds a fine layer of texture to the monochromatic palette of the cellar. Glass doors with polished nickel pulls separate the wine cellar and tasting room. Nestled in the white sands of Lido Beach, overlooking a 100-acre preserve of Florida habitat, this Colonial West Indies home celebrates the natural beauty that Sarasota is known for. Inspired by the sugar plantation estates on the island of Barbados, “Orchid Beach” radiates a barefoot elegance. Imported Dominican Coral and a red brick paved drive transitions to a courtyard with stone and bronze fountains, cedar trellises, gas lanterns and an intricate orchid pergola creating a calming effect while approaching the home. The old-world materials and craftsmanship continue throughout the home, culminating in areas of standout detail, including an English pub style bar overlooking the preserve, a paneled master bedroom with windows to resemble to stern of an old sailing ship overlooking the bayou. Orchid Beach was designed as a personal oasis for the owners to share the Florida lifestyle with their family and friends. Even the guest suites are fit for a governor. They provide exceptional privacy, having their own “wing”, located on a mid-level, with their own balconies overlooking the beach. The home gives the feel of traveling back in time to a spectacular island estate and promises to become a timeless piece of architecture on Lido Key.

We had a ball turning an “original garage turned media room” into a dreamy bourbon lounge for our special clients. The extensive bourbon collection deserved all the best highlights including custom bistro shelving, ambient lighting and both beautiful and functional cabinetry. The vibe is moody and mysterious and the finishes are sophisticated. Cork metallic wallpaper, deep hued paint and the quartzite countertops, which immediately draw the eye with their beauty, all culminate to this amazingly relaxing space that make one want to put up their feet, light a cigar and enjoy a fine pour. The traditionally inspired furnishings keep the room cozy and comfortable, and ever so plush. The lounge and its adjacent bathroom were designed with masculine inspired finishes and speaks to the client’s love for music. The powder bath on the other side of the home is a jewel box of a room with a custom mural and vanity, dancing crystal lights and a pink lacquered ceiling. The two distinctly different spaces delivered exactly what each spouse was hoping for!
