This Kirkland couple purchased their home with the vision to remodel the lower floor into a master suite. H2D Architecture + Design worked closely with the owner to develop a plan to create an open plan master suite with a bedroom, bathroom, and walk-in closet. The bedroom and bathroom are divided with a three-sided gas fireplace. A large soaking tub and walk-in shower provide a spa-like atmosphere for the master bathroom. Coronado, CA The Alameda Residence is situated on a relatively large, yet unusually shaped lot for the beachside community of Coronado, California. The orientation of the “L” shaped main home and linear shaped guest house and covered patio create a large, open courtyard central to the plan. The majority of the spaces in the home are designed to engage the courtyard, lending a sense of openness and light to the home. The aesthetics take inspiration from the simple, clean lines of a traditional “A-frame” barn, intermixed with sleek, minimal detailing that gives the home a contemporary flair. The interior and exterior materials and colors reflect the bright, vibrant hues and textures of the seaside locale.

Inspiration for a contemporary kitchen remodel in Milwaukee

A large portion of the cost associated with the material costs of this project, the large semi-frosted glass door brings balance to the space, creating a level of intimacy and privacy to the interior of the walk-in shower, while keeping the overall space inviting and open. Certainly worth the cost.

Acting as a reflective component to tie in other tones in the space, the stainless steel hood vents materiality speaks to the conversation of color within the kitchen.
