This newly purchased home was given a fresh start with a stunning kitchen remodel before the homeowners moved in. The design centered around the wife’s instant love for the warm cinnamon stain-colored cabinets, creating an inviting foundation for the space. To enhance the rich tones of the cabinetry, a Brittanica Gold quartz countertop was selected, carrying natural brown hues throughout the kitchen. The daffodil-colored laminate flooring, which flows seamlessly through the entire house, ties the design together beautifully. The couple admits they’re still experiencing “wow” moments, thrilled that this gorgeous kitchen is truly theirs.

Shade to Sun - A Journey of a Perennial Garden by Stonepocket. Upon the removal of a large silver maple the garden of pachysandra, hosta, and daffodils went from nice dappled shade to blazing fun sun. Shade plants were moved to other locations or giving away in order to transition into a full sun perennial garden. Spring flowers of Iberis, specie tulips, and Muscari fad to give way to Salvia, Coreopsis, Aruncus and Iris by early summer. Grasses, Asters, Heliopsis, and fall blooming onions push the late season color well into October. Text and form help carry the garden through our long cold winters.

This stunning one-acre garden, within walking distance of downtown Bethesda, was designed and installed by our firm in 2004.. LPI continues to maintain it today. The owners, devoted gardeners, wanted to utilize as much of the existing plant palette as possible but also to have space for a pond, a cutting garden, and expanses of lawn. The biggest challenge proved to be coping with the prodigious amount of water on site due to an underground spring and drainage issues posed by it and the topography of the site.
In 2010 this garden won an Award of Merit from the Association of Professional Landscape Designers, , a Grand Award from the MD*DC*VA Landscape Contractors Association, and an Environmental Improvement Award of Distinction from PLANET.
