A partial remodel of a Marin ranch home, this residence was designed to highlight the incredible views outside its walls. The husband, an avid chef, requested the kitchen be a joyful space that supported his love of cooking. High ceilings, an open floor plan, and new hardware create a warm, comfortable atmosphere. With the concept that “less is more,” we focused on the orientation of each room and the introduction of clean-lined furnishings to highlight the view rather than the decor, while statement lighting, pillows, and textures added a punch to each space.

This kitchen was created with StarMark Cabinetry's Farmington door style in Quarter Sawn Oak finished in Toffee with optional five-piece drawer headers and double furniture pegs on the doors and drawer headers. The island was created with StarMark Cabinetry's Farmington door style in Maple finished in Mocha.

This transitional style laundry/mudroom features medium brown stained maple cabinets, a white Whirlpool washer and dryer set with storage drawers, a laundry sink cabinet with a granite top that features ivory, taupe, brown, gold, and black. There is a Moen stainless steel rectangular laundry sink, a Delta polished chrome pull down laundry faucet, and a counter for folding clothes. There is a pull out drawer in a base cabinet for storing laundry, roll outs in an upper cabinet and a lower storage cabinet to store vacuums, etc. We installed white and taupe marble look marble look porcelain tile flooring and chose a cheery shade of yellow for the walls. The trim, clothes closet double doors, and a pocket door to the hallway are painted white.

Our instructions from the client were to "create a fiercely modern, all-white kitchen, but with humanity." Working within a ten by fifteen foot space that was originally dark, cramped and inefficient, we created a new kitchen which is bright, open, and highly efficient for cooking. While no walls were moved, the openings to adjacent spaces were relocated and resized, further expanding the appearance of the space.
