The focal point of the park is a striking 12-foot cross, serving as a meaningful centerpiece for the garden. The space includes custom 10-foot benches and 6-foot tables, providing ample seating for prayer, fellowship, and small group gatherings. The entire area is finished with decomposed granite, creating a natural, low-maintenance surface that blends seamlessly with the surrounding landscape while completing the park’s tranquil and welcoming atmosphere.

Faced with the challenge of maximizing every inch in this limited area, our goal was to reclaim and transform. The result: a thoughtful design featuring a custom fence for privacy and aesthetics, a space-saving bike shed, and a cozy bench surrounded by mosquito-repellent plants. Witness the metamorphosis of this once-overgrown haven into a harmonious blend of functionality and style—a transformed retreat where space is utilized to its fullest potential.

A path made from decomposed granite with Juniper timber steps leads from the terraced vegetable garden, through the side courtyard, and to the backyard.

Every inch of the inside and outside living areas are re-conceived in this full house and guest-house renovation in Berkeley. In the main house the entire floor plan is flipped to re-orient public and private areas, with the formerly small, chopped up spaces opened and integrated with their surroundings. The studio, previously a deteriorating garage, is transformed into a clean and cozy space with an outdoor area of its own. A palette of screen walls, Corten steel, stucco and concrete connect the materiality and forms of the two spaces.
