The small eat - in kitchen was designed with functionality in mind. The clients needed as much counter space as possible for cooking and prepping, as well as a dedicated spot for their many cookbooks. Soda Glass panels were used for the backsplash. The clients are able to write down recipes, weekly meal schedules and notes on the glass backsplash - making for a truly functional and personal kitchen. This dated 80's home needed a major makeover inside and out. For the most part, the home’s footprint and layout stayed the same, but details and finishes were updated throughout and a few structural things - such as expanding a bathroom by taking space from a spare bedroom closet - were done to make the house more functional for our client. The exterior was painted a bold modern dark charcoal with a bright orange door. Carpeting was removed for new wood floor installation, brick was painted, new wood mantle stained to match the floors and simplified door trims. The kitchen was completed demoed and renovated with sleek cabinetry and larger windows. Custom fabricated steel railings make a serious statement in the entryway, updating the overall style of the house.

Seabrook features miles of shoreline just 30 minutes from downtown Houston. Our clients found the perfect home located on a canal with bay access, but it was a bit dated. Freshening up a home isn’t just paint and furniture, though. By knocking down some walls in the main living area, an open floor plan brightened the space and made it ideal for hosting family and guests. Our advice is to always add in pops of color, so we did just with brass. The barstools, light fixtures, and cabinet hardware compliment the airy, white kitchen. The living room’s 5 ft wide chandelier pops against the accent wall (not that it wasn’t stunning on its own, though). The brass theme flows into the laundry room with built-in dog kennels for the client’s additional family members. We love how bright and airy this bayside home turned out!

Before renovating, this bright and airy family kitchen was small, cramped and dark. The dining room was being used for spillover storage, and there was hardly room for two cooks in the kitchen. By knocking out the wall separating the two rooms, we created a large kitchen space with plenty of storage, space for cooking and baking, and a gathering table for kids and family friends. The dark navy blue cabinets set apart the area for baking, with a deep, bright counter for cooling racks, a tiled niche for the mixer, and pantries dedicated to baking supplies. The space next to the beverage center was used to create a beautiful eat-in dining area with an over-sized pendant and provided a stunning focal point visible from the front entry. Welcome to our Perfectly Polished Kitchen. For this Camarillo homeowner, the kitchen no longer fit the way they lived. The original layout felt dated and disconnected, with walls separating the kitchen from the living room and an island oriented toward the backyard. Hosting felt divided, and awkward walkways disrupted the flow of the home. The goal was to create a kitchen centered around connection and everyday functionality. We opened the walls between the kitchen and living room and reoriented the island to face the main living space. By relocating a Blanco farmhouse sink to the island and adding bar seating, the kitchen is now a natural gathering place. Family and guests can stay connected while meals are prepared on a 48-inch range with an integrated griddle. The former range wall was transformed into a dedicated coffee and cocktail bar with a flush integrated MicroDrawer, adding convenience without sacrificing the clean aesthetic. Waterfall-edge quartz countertops, glazed grey blue Bedrosians tile, integrated refrigerator and freezer columns, premium Ferguson plumbing fixtures, and custom cabinetry create a timeless foundation. Warm wood tones from the island, wide-plank oak flooring, and custom rift-cut white oak range hood balance the polished nickel finishes for a look that feels both inviting and refined. The result is a timeless kitchen tailored to this homeowner’s minimalist lifestyle. Open, functional, and perfectly polished, it brings family and guests together while blending clean lines and everyday practicality.

Klopf Architecture, Arterra Landscape Architects, and Flegels Construction updated a classic Eichler open, indoor-outdoor home. Expanding on the original walls of glass and connection to nature that is common in mid-century modern homes. The completely openable walls allow the homeowners to truly open up the living space of the house, transforming it into an open air pavilion, extending the living area outdoors to the private side yards, and taking maximum advantage of indoor-outdoor living opportunities. Taking the concept of borrowed landscape from traditional Japanese architecture, the fountain, concrete bench wall, and natural landscaping bound the indoor-outdoor space. The Truly Open Eichler is a remodeled single-family house in Palo Alto. This 1,712 square foot, 3 bedroom, 2.5 bathroom is located in the heart of the Silicon Valley. A charming 1920s colonial had a dated dark kitchen that was not in keeping with the historic charm of the home. The owners, who adored British design, wanted a kitchen that was spacious and storage friendly, with the feel of a classic English kitchen. Designer Sarah Robertson of Studio Dearborn helped her client, while architect Greg Lewis redesigned the home to accommodate a larger kitchen, new primary bath, mudroom, and butlers pantry.
