The in-law suite kitchen could only be in a small corner of the basement. The kitchen design started with the question: how small can this kitchen be? The compact layout was designed to provide generous counter space, comfortable walking clearances, and abundant storage. Creating a space to entertain was the top priority in this Mukwonago kitchen remodel. The homeowners wanted seating and counter space for hosting parties and watching sports. By opening the dining room wall, we extended the kitchen area. We added an island and custom designed furniture-style bar cabinet with retractable pocket doors. A new awning window overlooks the backyard and brings in natural light. Many in-cabinet storage features keep this kitchen neat and organized. Bar Cabinet The furniture-style bar cabinet has retractable pocket doors and a drop-in quartz counter. The homeowners can entertain in style, leaving the doors open during parties. Guests can grab a glass of wine or make a cocktail right in the cabinet. Outlet Strips Outlet strips on the island and peninsula keeps the end panels of the island and peninsula clean. The outlet strips also gives them options for plugging in appliances during parties. Modern Farmhouse Design The design of this kitchen is modern farmhouse. The materials, patterns, color and texture define this space. We used shades of golds and grays in the cabinetry, backsplash and hardware. The chevron backsplash and shiplap island adds visual interest. Custom Cabinetry This kitchen features frameless custom cabinets with light rail molding. It’s designed to hide the under cabinet lighting and angled plug molding. Putting the outlets under the cabinets keeps the backsplash uninterrupted. Storage Features Efficient storage and organization was important to these homeowners. We opted for deep drawers to allow for easy access to stacks of dishes and bowls. Under the cooktop, we used custom drawer heights to meet the homeowners’ storage needs. A third drawer was added next to the spice drawer rollout. Narrow pullout cabinets on either side of the cooktop for spices and oils. The pantry rollout by the double oven rotates 90 degrees. Other Updates Staircase – We updated the staircase with a barn wood newel post and matte black balusters Fireplace – We whitewashed the fireplace and added a barn wood mantel and pilasters.

A work-smart kitchen layout was a must for this homeowner. That’s why she got together with the Renovisions team. In the old kitchen, lack of enough cabinet space and organized storage, created an overflowing situation with contents pushed to the countertops, making it hard to escape the clutter. Moreover, the inconvenient position of the refrigerator made entering and exiting the kitchen literally a squeeze. Redesigning the kitchen was a challenge but Ed envisioned a new spacious layout that naturally flowed between all work areas. At the top of the must-have list was the addition of an Island with an electric cooktop and much needed deep drawer storage. To create a better flow, the work surfaces, storage and appliances were arranged in the most functional way. The microwave was built into the cabinetry with an adjacent pull-out spice rack and it is closer to the refrigerator making reheating food easier. The key part of overhauling this kitchen was upgrading the cabinetry, countertops, and appliances as well as adding a unique backsplash tile. Renovisions suggested the gorgeous maple wood cabinetry with a light grey stain. The stainless steel appliances play off the grey cabinetry, colorful veining in the granite countertops and attractive glass subway tile, giving the kitchen a sleeker and more modern look.

A previous sunroom addition created a dining room, but the original kitchen layout kept the two rooms divided. The kitchen was a small and cramped c-shape with a narrow door leading into the dining area. The kitchen and dining room were completely opened up, creating a long, galley style, open layout which maximized the space and created a very good flow. Dimensions In Wood worked in conjuction with the client’s architect and contractor to complete this renovation. Custom cabinets were built to use every square inch of the floorplan, with the cabinets extending all the way to the ceiling for the most storage possible. Our woodworkers even created a step stool, staining it to match the kitchen for reaching these high cabinets. The family already had a kitchen table and chairs they were happy with, so we refurbished them to match the kitchen’s new stain and paint color. Crown molding top the cabinet boxes and extends across the ceiling where they create a coffered ceiling, highlighting the beautiful light fixtures centered on a wood medallion. Columns were custom built to provide separation between the different sections of the kitchen, while also providing structural support. Our master craftsmen kept the original 1925 glass cabinet doors, fitted them with modern hardware, repainted and incorporated them into new cabinet boxes. TASK LED Lighting was added to this china cabinet, highlighting the family’s decorative dishes. Appliance Garage On one side of the kitchen we built an appliance garage with doors that slide back into the cabinet, integrated power outlets and door activated lighting. Beside this is a small Galley Workstation for beverage and bar service which has the Galley Bar Kit perfect for sliced limes and more. Baking Cabinet with Pocket Doors On the opposite side, a baking cabinet was built to house a mixer and all the supplies needed for creating confections. Automatic LED lights, triggered by opening the door, create a perfect baker’s workstation. Both pocket doors slide back inside the cabinet for maximum workspace, then close to hide everything, leaving a clean, minimal kitchen devoid of clutter. Super deep, custom drawers feature custom dividers beneath the baking cabinet. Then beneath the appliance garage another deep drawer has custom crafted produce boxes per the customer’s request. Central to the kitchen is a walnut accent island with a granite countertop and a Stainless Steel Galley Workstation and an overhang for seating. Matching bar stools slide out of the way, under the overhang, when not in use. A color matched outlet cover hides power for the island whenever appliances are needed during preparation. The Galley Workstation has several useful attachments like a cutting board, drying rack, colander holder, and more. Integrated into the stone countertops are a drinking water spigot, a soap dispenser, garbage disposal button and the pull out, sprayer integrated faucet. Directly across from the conveniently positioned stainless steel sink is a Bertazzoni Italia stove with 5 burner cooktop. A custom mosaic tile backsplash makes a beautiful focal point. Then, on opposite sides of the stove, columns conceal Rev-a-Shelf pull out towers which are great for storing small items, spices, and more. All outlets on the stone covered walls also sport dual USB outlets for charging mobile devices. Stainless Steel Whirlpool appliances throughout keep a consistent and clean look. The oven has a matching microwave above it which also works as a convection oven. Dual Whirlpool dishwashers can handle all the family’s dirty dishes. The flooring has black, marble tile inlays surrounded by ceramic tile, which are period correct for the age of this home, while still being modern, durable and easy to clean. Finally, just off the kitchen we also remodeled their bar and snack alcove. A small liquor cabinet, with a refrigerator and wine fridge sits opposite a snack bar and wine glass cabinets. When envisioning their kitchen remodel, it was important to these homeowners that their existing cherry kitchen would be given a facelift in transitional style. Cathy and Ed of Renovisions achieved the owners’ wishes while making sure the kitchen still looked like a natural extension to the rest of their traditional styled home. The update made room for added storage and appliance space. We installed 48” wide cabinetry in a natural cherry finish with roll-out shelves and space to accommodate a microwave and pull-out double trash receptacle. These custom built cherry cabinets and crown molding matched existing cabinets and were within easy reach of the newly installed stainless steel Viking gas range, Zephyr hood and GE hybrid dishwasher. A large rectangular stainless steel sink was under-mounted on a beautiful new gold granite countertop. An absolute black granite countertop was installed on the new wine/beverage center featuring a U-Line dual-zone wine refrigerator, deep drawers for linens and stem ware holder in natural cherry finish. A standout feature is the beautifully tiled backsplash cut in with absolute black granite tile and an artful mix of granite/porcelain tile design over the new gas range. This draws attention to the newly remodeled space and brings together all the elements. The homeowners were tired of the original builders brick surrounding their fireplace hearth and wanted to update to a more formal, elegant look. They chose a solid polished granite material in absolute black. Outdated no longer, the design details in the kitchen and adjacent family room come together to create a formal yet warm and inviting ambiance with their wish fulfilled. The owners love their newly remodeled spaces.

This deep kitchen drawer was overflowing with glassware, bakeware, and mismatched kitchen tools. With everything stacked on top of each other, finding the right item was a daily struggle. This drawer was in desperate need of structure and order!

This bright kitchen used to be anything but, had dark cabinets and floor tiles that the owner said must go! Lightening this working kitchen for this family was a must. Client had an idea of their dream kitchen for this house and we made that happen. The transformation is like night and day, literally! Refacing the existing cabinets with a shaker style door and modern pulls brought this outdated kitchen to the present times. Converted some of the base cabinets to deep fully extending drawers gave more functional storage space for those hard to reach back corners of base door cabinets. We removed some of the closed cabinets and opted for open custom wood shelves to displace everyday dishes and create a pleasing natural feeling area in this kitchen. Behind those shelves we took a skinny white matte finish tile and went to the ceiling with it to make the room feel taller. Using a waterfall edge on the two peninsulas. That creates a nice space to house these two mid century barstools. We built a custom pantry and catch all area with deep drawers, a surface to drop keys or mail at and a tall upper cabinet for those other pantry items. Next to that we did a bench in the breakfast area. The soft gray cushion adds some warmth to the space. The flooring we took through the majority of the house, a wide plank tile that looks like wood! It looks so real people even ask what kind of wood it is when they see it! A smooth walnut coloring and look was perfect for this style of the rest of the home. So happy to help this family love their kitchen and feel like it belongs with the rest of their home!
