Carrera marble in all its glory is the big show stopper in this Bolton Hill rowhome master bath renovation. What started as a cramped, chopped up room was opened into a sparkling, luxurious space evocative of timeless Old World mansion baths. The result demonstrates what’s possible when mixing multiple marble tile shapes, colors and patterns. To visually frame the bathroom, we installed 6” x 12” honed Carrera marble tiles laid in a herringbone pattern for wainscotting, and carried the same marble pattern into the shower stall in order to create depth and dimension. The wainscotting is set off by beautifully-detailed Carrera marble chair rail and black tile pencil moulding. Carrera hex shower tiles, marble sills and bench, and intricate Carrera and black mosaic flooring complete the marble details. The crisp white double vanity and inconspicuous builtins tastefully compliment the marble, and the brass cabinet hardware, mirrors and plumbing and lighting fixtures add a burst of color to the room.

A dramatic vertical backdrop of black marble with white inclusions frames this unique freestanding staircase in an open-concept home. As the staircase descends into the naturally lit area below, white oak treads appear to float against the striking marble wall. The handrail is crafted from the same black marble as the backdrop, demonstrating how thoughtful material choices create true luxury. A glass panel railing system completes the design, creating an unexpected focal point that pairs organic warmth with luxurious stone. The interplay between natural wood, transparent glass, and dramatic marble proves that a staircase can be both functional architecture and sculptural art.

The balance of form and function is the hallmark of modern design. This staircase is a perfect example of that elegant simplicity. The dark-stained treads, newels, and smooth wood handrail create a rich foundation, while the parallel horizontal stainless steel rods add a sleek touch. With a beautiful overlook from the second floor, the staircase serves as a stunning focal point for the home. However, it's the interplay between the dark wood and gleaming steel elements that truly sets this project apart, demonstrating how material contrast can elevate a straightforward design into something memorable.

A custom-designed curved handrail follows the graceful arc of the staircase with precision, flowing smoothly all the way to the upper overlook. The result is a cohesive design that demonstrates how bold color choices and expert craftsmanship can transform a traditional curved form into a contemporary statement piece.

Walpole's in-house design and engineering team worked closely with the contractor and structural engineers for two months to finalized joinery details on the Ocean House project.
From conceptual drawings and a 3-D model, we demonstrated how materials would be assembled to execute the architect's structural concepts.
Over the course of the Ocean House project, Walpole supplied hundreds of linear feet of exterior railing, wall caps, fence, gates, and arbors, all factory pre-painted and ready for efficient, mess free installation.

As cherry continues to make a comeback, we show how classic is far from a dirty word. This kitchen used to be closed off and non-functional. With the help of our award-winning designer, Tracy West, it is now open, and has the perfect work triangle. By removing the wall that previously separated the kitchen and breakfast nook, the homeowners were able to relocate their refrigerator and add an island. The natural tones and textures in this kitchen make it feel inviting and clean and demonstrate that cherry can still add personality and dimension in a completely updated (and still timeless) way.

Designed as the architectural centerpiece of this contemporary backyard, this custom timber pavilion creates a seamless connection between the home's clean modern lines and the outdoor living spaces surrounding the pool. Positioned along the water's edge, the structure defines a destination for gathering while maintaining uninterrupted views across the landscape.
The design embraces simplicity through bold proportions and carefully detailed craftsmanship. Heavy timber posts and beams create a strong architectural framework, while the angled knee braces introduce a subtle sculptural element that adds both visual interest and structural expression. The low-slope roof emphasizes the pavilion's modern profile, extending generous overhangs that provide shade without feeling heavy.
A rich black exterior finish contrasts beautifully with the warmth of the natural tongue-and-groove wood ceiling, creating depth and highlighting the beauty of the exposed timber construction. The ceiling becomes a focal point from beneath the pavilion, drawing the eye upward while softening the bold exterior palette. Three woven pendant lights suspended over the seating area add texture and a welcoming ambiance that transitions effortlessly from day to evening.
Built from premium heavy timber with a stained tongue-and-groove ceiling and finished with durable exterior coatings, the pavilion was designed to withstand the elements while requiring minimal maintenance. Its open layout allows for flexible use, whether as an outdoor lounge, dining space, or poolside entertaining area.
The finished structure demonstrates how modern timber framing can feel both timeless and contemporary. It combines natural materials, clean architectural detailing, and purposeful design to create an outdoor living space that is as striking from across the pool as it is inviting from beneath the roof.

Fields-Led Feature Wall in a Contemporary Villa
In this elegant private villa, we transformed the entrance hall into a striking architectural statement using our Fields-Led wall panels with integrated LED lighting. The dynamic geometric design creates a captivating interplay of texture, depth, and light, turning a functional hallway into a true focal point of the home.
The integrated LED lighting is fully dimmable via remote control, allowing the atmosphere to be adjusted effortlessly from subtle ambient illumination to a more dramatic visual effect. In addition, the lighting system has been seamlessly integrated into the villa’s existing home automation (domotics) system, providing intuitive control and enhancing the overall smart-home experience.
After installation, the entire feature wall was professionally finished and sprayed in a custom RAL colour, creating a refined and cohesive appearance that perfectly complements the interior design of the villa.
The result is a unique combination of innovative design, advanced lighting technology, and bespoke craftsmanship—demonstrating how our Fields-Led panels can elevate any interior space into a sophisticated architectural feature.

This beautiful self-supported curved staircase welcomes you the moment you step through the front door. Warm oak treads, handrails, and posts create an inviting presence, while crisp white risers and stringers keep the design feeling bright and spacious. A thick starting newel anchors the curve at its base, adding visual weight to the graceful ascent.
Thin vertical metal bar railings maintain openness as the staircase sweeps upward to a circular second-floor overlook. From above, the balcony provides the perfect vantage point to appreciate the full curved form below, demonstrating how a well-designed staircase can be admired from every angle.

A single-family home built on a lake in Columbia County, NY.
Hugging the perimeter of an old-growth forest, this family home is situated so as to take full advantage of long valley views, passive heating and cooling, and the natural windbreak provided by the treeline. The house demonstrates the sustainable design dictum, "Don't build more house than you need," and the design incorporates many energy-saving features and materials. The project was featured in the New York Times as a model of sustainable design and is regularly included on the Columbia County sustainable home tour. The main house, guest house, pool and pool house were designed to be an unobtrusive living environment on the 100-acre site. Landscape Architect Jon Piasecki designed paths, plant arrangements and follies around the grounds.
