Designed with New Orleans fashion in mind and driven by the home owners visit to the Big Easy, this room delivers a french traditional flair derived from the ornate custom comforter, blown glass lamps, and feather stemmed arrangement atop gold soaked end tables. The entire wall was adorned with beaded mirrors, rather than a traditional picture or accessory placement, complimented by a beautiful traditional upholstered cornice board. A design with a New Orleans Vintage Flare in mind driven by a love for the Big Easy ... The home owner provided a beautiful compilation of photos, where we created a collage of picture frames encased in its own stenciled framing of Fleur De Lis's.

The Magpies are delighted! This stunning project is nestled in the South Australian country township of Willunga, whose name is derived from the Aboriginal word meaning “The locality of green trees”. During the course of the renovations a family of 11 magpies swooped in and now call this abundantly treed property ‘Home’. The clever design frames the natural views to the north, uninhibited by the alfresco structure. Passive solar design methodology is employed by utilising optimal eaves overhang allowing warming winter sun to penetrate into the interior of the building, whilst excluding the harsh rays during summer. A blending of the old and new help to keep a sense of history whilst combining a modern, natural feel with a semi industrial working space. Bringing the outdoors in by maximising the views of the abundant vegetation and birdlife is a feature of this addition. Well known local identities, and the owners of this spectacular building, are now enjoying their lifestyle passion for preparing food and entertaining in this enlarged, purpose built space…. As are their fine feathered friends.

This new 3,000 sq. ft. four bedroom vacation home is designed for multi-generational family usage and flexibility. The unique u-shaped plan organizes the house into two bedroom wings connected by the central great room and kitchen/dining areas. All of the homes main living spaces enjoy exterior views and access to the courtyard/swimming pool areas. The home’s exterior material palette is derived from the local traditions of using stucco and metal roofing.

This pre-tinted lime plaster is inspired by the splendid and prestigious Marmorino, originally derived from powders of marble and lime. Ressource has developed this unique range of Roman plasters and are highly committed to offer exclusive original colors. This palette combines the traditional spectrum of mineral colors, along with contemporary shades inspiration. The real innovation of this coating lies in the simplicity of implementation : first, a special primer (Rough Primer) applied with a roller, following by one coat of Mineral undercoat and lastly one coat of Roman plaster to obtain this beautiful finish. This splendid decorative plaster, with a soft, slightly glossy finish, will fit into many different types of interiors. It can be protected with a water-based wax that will delicately accentuate its glazed appearance without excessive shine.

The primary goal for this project was to craft a modernist derivation of pueblo architecture. Set into a heavily laden boulder hillside, the design also reflects the nature of the stacked boulder formations. The site, located near local landmark Pinnacle Peak, offered breathtaking views which were largely upward, making proximity an issue. Maintaining southwest fenestration protection and maximizing views created the primary design constraint. The views are maximized with careful orientation, exacting overhangs, and wing wall locations. The overhangs intertwine and undulate with alternating materials stacking to reinforce the boulder strewn backdrop. The elegant material palette and siting allow for great harmony with the native desert. The Elegant Modern at Estancia was the collaboration of many of the Valley's finest luxury home specialists. Interiors guru David Michael Miller contributed elegance and refinement in every detail. Landscape architect Russ Greey of Greey | Pickett contributed a landscape design that not only complimented the architecture, but nestled into the surrounding desert as if always a part of it. And contractor Manship Builders -- Jim Manship and project manager Mark Laidlaw -- brought precision and skill to the construction of what architect C.P. Drewett described as "a watch." Appearing as though this structure has stood in it's current spot for decades, this amazing pool house was created by Restoring Texas using mostly reclaimed materials harvested from local dilapidated Texas historical structures. Particularly, the siding, columns, doors, windows and many of other elements were salvaged from a Texas Craftsman style sharecropper home built in 1930. The tin was taken from the roofs of an early 1900's Texas barn. Historic signs such as the "Poss Pool Palace" sign bearing the name of its owners are reproduced and personalized by a local artist. Restoring Texas works closely with skilled builders and designers, and of course the home owners, throughout Texas to build these amazing works of art.

The Control/Shift House is perched on the high side of the site which takes advantage of the view to the southeast. A gradual descending path navigates the change in terrain from the street to the entry of the house. A series of low retaining walls/planter beds gather and release the earth upon the descent resulting in a fairly flat level for the house to sit on the top one third of the site. The entry axis is aligned with the celebrated stair volume and then re-centers on the actual entry axis once you approach the forecourt of the house. The initial desire was for an “H” scheme house with common entertaining spaces bridging the gap between the more private spaces. After an investigation considering the site, program, and view, a key move was made: unfold the east wing of the “H” scheme to open all rooms to the southeast view resulting in a “T” scheme. The new derivation allows for both a swim pool which is on axis with the entry and main gathering space and a lap pool which occurs on the cross axis extending along the lengthy edge of the master suite, providing direct access for morning exercise and a view of the water throughout the day. The Control/Shift House was derived from a clever way of following the “rules.” Strict HOA guidelines required very specific exterior massing restrictions which limits the lengths of unbroken elevations and promotes varying sizes of masses. The solution most often used in this neighborhood is one of addition - an aggregation of masses and program randomly attached to the inner core of the house which often results in a parasitic plan. The approach taken with the Control/Shift House was to push and pull program/massing to delineate and define the layout of the house. Massing is intentional and reiterated by the careful selection of materiality that tracks through the house. Voids and relief in the plan are a natural result of this method and allow for light and air to circulate throughout every space of the house, even into the most inner core. This residential compound includes a primary residence, guesthouse, barn, dining pavilion and entry gate. The distinctive form of the architecture is derived from the Teton Range extending to the south. To respond to this phenomenon, the ridge of the gable roof is angled to allow the north wall to gently rise toward the west, mimicking the line of the mountains. The south wall naturally rises to the east capturing the preferred morning light. The materials - wood, rusted steel, copper panels, and stone - form a monochromatic palette to reinforce the sculptural energy of each building. A.I.A. Cooler Blue Green Undertones. If you are working with the off-whites where do you start? I start with knowing which side of the color wheel we are working with first. Are we working primarily with the warm or cool hues on the color wheel? What are being used as the accent colors in the space? What are the wood or metal finishes? Flooring? We always have to take into consideration what the existing space is and/or the new choices we will be using as our new interior design concept. Why start there you say? Because it is like a detective doing "DNA Investigative Research". We are determining the hues from the color wheel where each element such as the permanent selections and the new decor color is derived from. The Watonga residence was commissioned by a woman with a big heart for animal fostering. She wanted a house that felt private from the street but visually and physically connected to the backyard. The house needed to consider the typology and scale of the existing neighborhood, and it needed durable materials to accommodate little paws. Finally, it had to support an environmentally conscientious life. The house was intentionally placed on the short end of an irregularly shaped lot, allowing the living spaces to open up to a large native landscape and adjacent lot containing a significant tree grove. This siting allowed for a passive orientation where window walls face north and exposure to the south and west is minimal. The interior is light-filled, capturing expansive landscape views of an established oak grove to the North and bayou views to the East. A carefully choreographed entry vestibule and screen shield create interior privacy from the street. A two-story volume fills the center of the home with warm, southern light. A palette of tile, Texas stone, and concrete are used for budget friendly durability. The house is derived from a simple diagram with utilitarian functions placed in the stone box and living in a minimal gabled roof that supports solar panel orientation and rainwater collection. At its core, this home is designed for family, foster dogs, well-curated music, and Aggie game days.

These clients are Disney FANATICS and desired a whimsical play space for their two young children. We wanted to give them all the whimsy they desired with a subtle Disney undertone. A hidden theme in each element to the design is derived from different Disney movies. For example, seven drawers under the window seat for the “Seven Dwarfs”, scalloped removable wallpaper behind the TV to represent “The Little Mermaid” fish scales, whimsical umbrellas on the custom storage unit are straight replicas of the “Mary Poppins” prop, a bold hair on hide to call to “The Lion King”, a small sofa that converts to a twin bed perfect for “Sleeping Beauty”. The hidden messages throughout the space lead to a unique design and story that the clients were enthralled to play along with!

With nothing but a backpack and a few art pieces in hand, our client, with southern charm, was in dire need of furniture and fast. After liking our aesthetic style, Regan Baker Design was hired to help furnish and style his entire 1 bedroom apartment in Russian Hill. The overall color pallet was derived from his uncle’s large scale highway artwork, which is now displayed proudly above the custom sofa. From there we built the design around his love for modern spaces, his personal hobby of photography and his love for music. With the exception of a few great pieces of art, we worked hand in hand with our client to assure his bachelor pad was masculine, yet casual modern and in the end created a bachelor pad Ryan Gosling would be happy to bring his dates back to.
