The sliding doors were removed and the hot water radiator relocated to enrich the functionality and beauty of the kitchen. Glass tiles, leaded glass doors, polished granite, interior cabinet lighting, new ceiling lighting along with cabinets that reach the ceiling were designed to visually expand the space. Reflective surfaces assist in expanding the space, as do glass doors because the mind peers beyond the door's face surface. White cabinets and trim with just enough detail and accent so as not to numb the emotion with a hospital quality further expands the sense of the kitchen space. Creativity and an ability to think "outside the box" are necessary for these gems we describe as "row" homes. Restoration when done well is exciting; it's refreshing and delightful. We can not disassociate our emotions from our environments. Why should we? We should strive to be happy within beauty. Part of the Arts and Crafts Movement in America used as its' motto: the Beautiful, the Useful and the Enduring. For an artisan craftsman or designer the motto holds true today. They always loved their house – its shape and size, and the piece of land it sits on; but the interior left a lot to be desired. In fact, they hated it. They wanted it to be aesthetically more pleasing and to have much more function and flow.
These homeowners challenged Lagois to make it the home of their dreams, and that’s exactly what happened. One of the homeowners loves to cook, but the kitchen was dark. The space was difficult and frustrating. The new kitchen is bigger, brighter, and more functional. It now has all the prep space he needs and the task lighting he always wanted.
They also love their new spa bathroom, which is beautiful and warm and exactly what they had in mind. One of the homeowners describes himself as fussy and impatient, and at first he had been anxious about the whole prospect of renovation. He said afterwards that the team made him feel comfortable, listened to, and unconcerned.
One factor that made them so at ease with choosing Lagois was the “in house” aspect of their services. The person who designed their home, the one who did the drawings, and the person who managed the construction are all Lagois employees. The homeowners liked knowing those critical functions weren’t outsourced.
Another thing they love about their home is the finishes that are exactly to their taste. The homeowners are delighted with the new interior of their home. It is now something they love – both outside and inside.

The final design includes several "courtyard" and transitional spaces to accommodate the unique grading and provide several lounge spaces. Each of the home's many windows provides a different, picturesque view of the water feature focal point. The hot tub is purposefully close to the house for easy access, yet carefully positioned out of sight from the rest of the lounge areas so as to not draw attention away from the focal point.
Quaint seating spaces, a fire pit lounge area, and a covered dining space are accented by ornamental grasses, hydrangeas, and night lighting. Our clients are thrilled with how the final project made their oddly shaped yard now perfectly fit their landscape needs and desires!

An unused bedroom was converted for use as a yoga and meditation room. Custom shoji screens were fabricated and installed by LA Shoji . Designed by Miriam Paige to use solar screening rather than paper for privacy and sun control.

The primary goal for this project was to craft a modernist derivation of pueblo architecture. Set into a heavily laden boulder hillside, the design also reflects the nature of the stacked boulder formations. The site, located near local landmark Pinnacle Peak, offered breathtaking views which were largely upward, making proximity an issue. Maintaining southwest fenestration protection and maximizing views created the primary design constraint. The views are maximized with careful orientation, exacting overhangs, and wing wall locations. The overhangs intertwine and undulate with alternating materials stacking to reinforce the boulder strewn backdrop. The elegant material palette and siting allow for great harmony with the native desert.
The Elegant Modern at Estancia was the collaboration of many of the Valley's finest luxury home specialists. Interiors guru David Michael Miller contributed elegance and refinement in every detail. Landscape architect Russ Greey of Greey | Pickett contributed a landscape design that not only complimented the architecture, but nestled into the surrounding desert as if always a part of it. And contractor Manship Builders -- Jim Manship and project manager Mark Laidlaw -- brought precision and skill to the construction of what architect C.P. Drewett described as "a watch."

“Dramatic” and “no detail spared” are two ways to describe this stunning home in Corona del Mar. Located on an oversized bluff side lot with views of Newport Harbor, Catalina, and the Pacific Ocean, the contemporary dwelling is the work of Brandon Architects Inc. and Spinnaker Development. Door and window systems from Western are used throughout, especially the Series 600 Multi-Slide, where it’s used to enhance features such as indoor/outdoor living areas and a guest casita that opens to a courtyard.
