Vorrath Woodworks completely refurbished these Swedish made mid century modern swivel base club chairs. The new East Indian rosewood veneers are even more stunning than the original. Someone attempted a refinish job on the original wood using an orbital sander and left the backs destroyed. We purchased new veneer to bring these beauties back to their original glory. All new foam and fabric round out the restoration job.

This complete-gut rehab respects the vintage of the condo, but with industrial appointments that lend just the barest nod to 'steam punk' modernism. Removing a heavy soffit visually opened the space and returned graceful proportions that had been destroyed by a prior renovation.

This project is the rebuild of a classic Craftsman bungalow that had been destroyed in a fire. Throughout the design process we balanced the creation of a house that would feel like a true home, to replace the one that had been lost, while managing a budget with challenges from the insurance company, and navigating through a complex approval process.

A true piece of American history. 100+ year old lumber reclaimed from old barns in West Virginia.
In the early 1900's, a fungus emerged and rapidly spread through America's Chestnut tree forests. By 1935, a good portion of the mature Chestnut trees were destroyed by the fungus. During this time the wood was considered inferior because of bore holes caused by an insect that invaded the diseased trees. To eliminate the spread of any futher tree disease, the trees were quickly milled into lumber for barns, fences, structure flooring, and siding.

Scott Buley, High Tech Turf & Trees, LandscapeMakeover.biz, Rain Garden Nursery. This area in the back yard, was literally flooded by water the first season. We intentionally re-worked it in the Winter, during coldest, driest weather, to purposely stay atop frozen ground, to avoid destroying soil structure. Otherwise in wet weather, we'd have both rutted and compacted it, worsening conditions. We trenched, tiled, and installed Rain Gardens to drain it. Planted improved variety Turf-Type Tall Fescue in following June. It can't be successfully seeded earlier, or beyond the end of August. A great choice though, as it is more drought tolerant, and handles compaction better than most other varieties.

This summer house had its original layout and design when it was first brought. None of the initial elements were of value to the client, except of the exterior part of the house. When going through the redesign and execution process, the entire interior was destroyed, thus resulting in having 5 rooms (each with a bathroom), open and closed kitchen, living room, and reception area. Since it’s a summer house, there has a be a pool, so a long pool was build parallel to the house, with big open terraces that give a clear view of the Sea, which is directly in front of it. The main challenge was that due to its prime location, the material that was used had to be made up of smooth stones, to withstand the weather.

the entire lower half of this mid century historic mural was destroyed by water damage and by the time we got to it, the plaster repair had been laid in so that the whole lower half was a blank canvas. The grass along the bottom was wiped out as well but for a tiny area which was enough to represent the style in which we had to duplicate. That along with the clients memory of what it looked like growing up in the household gave us enough information to restore it near perfection!

Ozone is mother Nature's anti-microbial disinfectant. Protect and safeguard your home with an Aqualogic by Lenova Faucet. Ozone (O3) is an antimicrobial agent that is very effective at oxidizing and destroying organic and other compounds on equipment and surfaces. The Aqualogic by Lenova faucet features a smal, thin ozone generator that uses regular house current to economically and naturally produce this strong oxidant. When the ozone water comes into contact with micro-organisms it oxidizes them. Ozone is approved by the FDA as an additive to kill food-borne pathogens and leaves no toxic residue on treated surfaces providing a natural, safe, and inexpensive anto-microbial solution for all kitchens. Chemical cleaners cannot match its effectiveness.

This brownstone had been left vacant long enough that a large family of 40 cats had taken up residence. Designed in 1878 and fully gutted along the way, this diamond in the rough left an open shell with very little original detail. After gently re-homing the kitty interlopers, building up and out was the primary goal of the owner in order to maximize the buildable area of the lot. While many of the home’s historical features had been destroyed, the owner sought to retain these features where possible. Of the original grand staircase, only one piece, the newel post, could be salvaged and restored.
