Two small storage closets were removed and a wet bar installed in the entertainment center of this walk out basement. The bar is complete with refrigerator, microwave drawer, extensive storage space and an undercount sink, New carpeting and a slate tile floor replaced the existing carpeting. Two of the four walls were rebuilt due to extensive deterioration that had occurred over the years. The salty sea air and strong winds on the bluff are incredibly hard on the exterior elements of this home. Durability and simple beauty were the main goals for this amazing seaside house and deck! We replaced the rotting cedar shake roof with a pure zinc standing seam metal roof made by Rheinzink. The deteriorating cedar siding was removed, and after extensive air sealing, was replaced with FSC-certified Ipé siding set on a rainscreen or more Rheinzink in the case of a kitchen bump-out. After the old siding and roofing were replaced we moved on to the replacing the decks and railings with more of the FSC-certified Ipé. The final result is stunning! With the new beautiful and durable Ipé and zinc surfaces the owners are excited to enjoy their home and deck with little maintenance for years to come. This house was originally purchased and renovated by John Kenneth Conant, well known early 1900's art historian. The new owners wanted to restore deteriorated areas. The discovery of never implemented Conant design sketches was the inspiration for further work, while maintaining the historic value and integrity of the original home.

Renovation of a cabin originally built in 1910 on an island in a Maine lake. On this project we removed the deteriorated brick retaining wall that was partially collapsed and impeding access to the rear yard. We installed a new drainage system and underground infiltration pit to assist in diverting water away from the house and wall. Concrete footings were installed, 8" block filled solid, and natural stone veneer / bluestone capping all installed in one week

With stunning views of the Annisquam River, this beautiful first period home was constructed in 1690 for Nathanial Harraden, sailing master of the USS Constitution. It is believed to be the oldest remaining house in this neighborhood of Gloucester. Our extensive historic restoration preserved the integrity and historic details of the original structure, which had been altered significantly over time. Deteriorated structural elements were repaired or rebuilt, and historic elements including beams were revealed. A bright new kitchen and bathrooms provide a functional layout suited for modern living, and use authentic natural materials that will patina and weather in harmony with the rest of the home. The new island counter was hewn from a large decaying tree on the site, and hand-painted marble tiles adorn the backsplash. New cabinetry was hand-crafted using methods authentic to the time. We preserved the kitchen’s existing brick floor, which originally provided a durable surface for milking animals inside during cold winter months. Using authentic materials and craftsmanship of the era, this special house celebrates its historic character and embraces modern updates that will welcome home generations to come.

This roof was only 17 years old but already showing significant signs of failure. The original builder-grade shingles had begun to deteriorate prematurely, with visible curling, granule loss, and several active leaks. Poor ventilation and improper flashing details contributed to moisture intrusion in multiple areas of the home. The homeowner reached out to us after noticing water spots on interior ceilings and missing shingles after a recent storm.

Vicarage renovation and restoration project for St. Andrew’s Church. The vicarage had a flood damaging the entire 1st floor. Over the years the space had deteriorated and various tenants had painted over and over and even put stables into 120 year old moldings and other wood detail. We wanted to bring the original integrity back to the space by matching the original hardwood flooring, refinishing and staining moldings where possible, building & extending moldings to match where they could not be salvaged, such as the plate rail that was missing parts, and removing old gunky paint. It was also important to make the space feel fresh and beautiful. The church has Gothic elements so we wanted to bring that feeling along with the beauty of the church into the vicarage space.

This project in Oak Island, NC revealed extensive wood rot and structural deterioration beneath an exterior door and deck connection. The rim joist and framing members had failed due to prolonged moisture intrusion, compromising structural integrity. RGR Construction and Roofing, LLC is performing full structural repairs, including framing replacement, moisture protection, and rebuilding to meet code and coastal durability standards.

The clients had an existing deck that they loved the shape and size of, but their wood decking had deteriorated to the point where it was becoming unsafe to use. We removed the existing deck and reframed a new one to match their original design. We used Gossen brand pvc in the Canyon Brown color for the new decking and fascias. The steps had l.e.d. lights made by Dekor installed for safety and additional cool factor in the evening hours when they are entertaining outside. Front view of this intricate aluminum standing seam metal installation on an eclectic craftsman-style residence in Milford, CT. Multiple layers of asphalt shingles were removed from this roof, revealing many deteriorated planks which had to be replaced to bring the roof deck back to sound condition. We then covered the entire roof with high-temperature Ice and Water Shield and installed and flashed three new Velux skylights above the rear sunroom. We then installed Englert 1300 standing seam aluminum in Hartford Green, a color choice that really fits in with the craftsman style and color of the home.

This project highlights one of the problems associated with only replacing some of your siding. My client replace 2 walls of siding on his home with Hardie Beaded Cedarmill lap siding because it most closely matched the existing siding. Once the rest of the siding deteriorated and needed to be replaced the siding he used was discontinued. We were able to get a similar product but it was in Hardie's Dream Collection and costs 3 times what the original siding cost. We then finished the siding we replaced with SW Latitude paint.
