After living with “apartment” furniture for a couple of years, they decided it was time to upgrade and invest in furnishings that were more suited to their taste and lifestyle. Family friendly and comfortable, but still stylish, is what was requested. I achieved that by selecting quality/durable pieces of furniture for the foundation of the room and then decorated with accessories that have a bit of a “glam” factor, which can easily be changed out when they want a new look. I designed a custom wood bar top with steel supports for seating at the kitchen peninsula. Before there was no seating in the kitchen. This helps join the kitchen and family room and provides a spot for the kids to eat and do homework. The fireplace was updated with a new custom wood mantle and matching hearth. I had the walls painted from a yellow to a neutral greige. Custom window coverings include grey silk drapes in the family room and pleated Roman shades in the kitchen. For a bit of added sparkle, I replaced the 2 existing pendants with 2 mini chandeliers over the peninsula. The overall look is family friendly, but stylish with a bit of sparkle. This incredible beach condo is a perfect example of "clean and simple" design style. The cabinets are Wellborn Select series cabinets. The door style is Hancock shaker and the finish is Glacier white. The cabinets are all the same, but each room has it's own personality with countertops and tile. The white and gray finishes are so soft and really allow the wonderful views of the Gulf of Mexico to POP-! You can easily focus on the blue-green water and light blue sky. It is easy to relax and unwind at the beach with this soft and exquisite interior!

This "Dream" room was designed for a young girl, which she can easily grow into with a few simple changes in bedding and accents. Cole & Son's Woods and Stars was selected as a feature wall in a pretty pale blue, a nod to the surrounding woods and adding an ethereal touch. The ceiling was painted to match the walls, for a fully enveloped feeling. Rainbows and Unicorns abound in this fantasy forest. A secret playroom hides behind the spare closet's doors, with a dreamy sky overhead, complete with a fluffy cloud pendant. The loveseat pulls out into a twin bed for sleep overs.

This Boulder, Colorado remodel by fuentesdesign demonstrates the possibility of renewal in American suburbs, and Passive House design principles. Once an inefficient single story 1,000 square-foot ranch house with a forced air furnace, has been transformed into a two-story, solar powered 2500 square-foot three bedroom home ready for the next generation. The new design for the home is modern with a sustainable theme, incorporating a palette of natural materials including; reclaimed wood finishes, FSC-certified pine Zola windows and doors, and natural earth and lime plasters that soften the interior and crisp contemporary exterior with a flavor of the west. A Ninety-percent efficient energy recovery fresh air ventilation system provides constant filtered fresh air to every room. The existing interior brick was removed and replaced with insulation. The remaining heating and cooling loads are easily met with the highest degree of comfort via a mini-split heat pump, the peak heat load has been cut by a factor of 4, despite the house doubling in size. During the coldest part of the Colorado winter, a wood stove for ambiance and low carbon back up heat creates a special place in both the living and kitchen area, and upstairs loft. This ultra energy efficient home relies on extremely high levels of insulation, air-tight detailing and construction, and the implementation of high performance, custom made European windows and doors by Zola Windows. Zola’s ThermoPlus Clad line, which boasts R-11 triple glazing and is thermally broken with a layer of patented German Purenit®, was selected for the project. These windows also provide a seamless indoor/outdoor connection, with 9′ wide folding doors from the dining area and a matching 9′ wide custom countertop folding window that opens the kitchen up to a grassy court where mature trees provide shade and extend the living space during the summer months. This new 2500 square foot, 4-bedroom, 3-bathroom home in Los Altos, California had been a typical 3-bedroom, 2-bathroom 1970s tract house. The old house was torn down to the studs, ceilings were vaulted, and a 500 square foot addition provided a new bedroom, bathroom, large laundry room, and mudroom. With gourmet appliances, custom cabinetry, and skylights as well as an integrated audio and video system, this home features amenities and fine finishes often found in more luxurious homes. The homeowner selected Eldorado Stone's Mesquite Cliffstone wainscot as a prelude to the quality of materials and workmanship inside. Our client was particularly impressed by the natural look of Eldorado Stone with its variation in colors and stone shapes. This beautiful cultured stone easily harmonized with the natural stone walkway and the interlocking paver driveway. Upon installation, the mason sorted through the stones and reserved the best-looking ones for the front of the home and the more visible of the two chimneys. To emphasize a country look, the stone was installed with wider grout lines than on a typical installation. Finally, a new custom mailbox on the curbside was enveloped with matching Eldorado Stone. An Eichler architectural style of a house that went through an entire house remodeling, where the kitchen area was designed to be open to the family room and living room areas. Therefore, it was important to design the kitchen to blend well with the other adjacent areas and give it a Furniture Look style so it is not necessary look like an ordinary kitchen. To make this transition between the areas, the kitchen design layout has the emphasis on detached areas within the kitchen area, so those elements stand alone and give the furniture look style to the entire kitchen area. The use of the door styles selected for the kitchen area helped to blend easily with the contemporary style of the house. Door style Finish: Alno Art pro, high gloss tempered glass door style, in the high gloss champagne color finish combined with the Alno Art Wood Glass, high gloss tempered glass door style, in the high gloss walnut color finish.

This was an amazing project to work on with even more amazing clients! This project, in particular, had a strict timeline as we needed to complete it by the upcoming holidays. We opened up the space plan and integrated the kitchen and the living room so that the client could more easily entertain friends and family. We used the back wall as a focal point, selecting a black hood with an interesting backsplash pattern that goes all the way to the ceiling. --- Project designed by Montecito interior designer Margarita Bravo. The attached porch, connected by a catwalk, allows for extended family to gather and relax.While the porch is open to the elements outside, it still offers amenities such as a wet bar and living room features. There is a series of white storage benches on wheels that allow the room to be easily reconfigured. Seen in this photo, you can note the designer and owners attention to materials that were selected to guard against all elements.

The goal was to create a stylish sanctuary in your own backyard! This reasoning spurred the inspiration for the backyard restyle at Project GC, which saw Ariel and Robert furnishing and styling their outdoor space on a budget so they could take advantage of the weather and spend more time outside while renovating the inside of their home. Our goal was to design with the great outdoors in mind by selecting furnishings that could withstand the weather and could remain outside throughout the seasons. We wanted to be budget conscious and therefor choose everything from Target. We intentionally chose furniture that was Target to meet our budget constraints but we also wanted to show that if you can only shop from one store, you can mix and match what they have to offer to create a one of a kind space. The natural whicker table and chairs are durable, lightweight and create a relaxed tropical vibe. The table is anchored to a black and white rug while providing a touch of modernism. Tropical plants were layered into the space in a variety of pots of different scales and textures. Colored was infused into the space with throw pillows and blankets that can easily be changed out to match the season. Finally, we created mood lighting with strung lights and lanterns of different scales that could remain outside. Voila – an outdoor space we could relax in!
