Casework Inter DesignWhen Casework first met this 550 square foot attic space in a 1912 Seattle Craftsman home, it was dated and not functional. The homeowners wanted to transform their existing master bedroom and bathroom to include more practical closet and storage space as well as add a nursery. The renovation created a purposeful division of space for a growing family, including a cozy master with built-in bench storage, a spacious his and hers dressing room, open and bright master bath with brass and black details, and a nursery perfect for a growing child. Through clever built-ins and a minimal but effective color palette, Casework was able to turn this wasted attic space into a comfortable, inviting and purposeful sanctuary.

In close collaboration with Darrell Epp, Architect, CYAN Horticulture was invited to maximize use of the very limited space surrounding this newly renovated single-family residence. Perched atop a 75-feet forested ravine and overlooking a protected salmon stream, this low-lying house seems to be floating in the wilderness. On the more exposed side, sunny and connecting to the street, the distinctive silhouette of gingkos and squared-off beeches, mounding lavenders and graphic maiden grasses, play against expanses of raw concrete and accents of reclaimed, century-old barn wood. On the sheltered side, shady and sloping down to the stream, a variety of dark green foliages merge into the surroundings.

$1200 retail wool rug from Feizy, which we then had custom cut to size and hand-serged for just $150.
The fireplace is dressed up with a white Traditional African Headdress sourced at a local flea market, and baskets and vases from West Elm and CB2, against a solid walnut built-in media cabinet below the TV. The Khrome Studios Della Robbia “sectional” (which would have been an expensive custom order) was created using a stock-size sofa in graded-in (stock) fabric, with an ottoman, giving a sectional effect. Coffee table sourced on Etsy for $875. Gubi Grasshopper lamps were another splurge (the client LOVED them) at $900 each.
