Deep in the historic district of Salem, Massachusetts, our design-build team worked to create a beautiful conservatory glass roof system to bring light, beauty, and functionality to our client. The end result is a custom glass roof lantern crowning a freshly constructed year-round addition which elegantly compliments an already extraordinary home. The space was designed to accommodate dual-purpose usage; the homeowner enjoys light gardening in one portion of the conservatory and morning coffee in the other. We strategically placed a glass partition and door to enable independent climate controls for the greenhouse and den. Incredible moldings and copperwork coupled with a custom Marvin door and window package dress the vertical walls while a custom open lantern glass roof provides an amazing view from the interior. This large addition in Maplewood, NJ featured the additon of a new floor on the 3rd floor (to contain 2 new bedrooms, full bath, and news staircase - prior pull-down ladder led to small, unfinished storage. The 2nd floor additional space enabled a master suite with walk-in closet furnished by California Closts, and a master bath with soaking tub, large shower, and custom-milled double vanity. 1st floor addition created new covered entry and much-needed mudroom. A ground up design and build of a modern seven bedroom primary residence incorporating sustainable design principles built for an international family of four. The concept revolved around the need for environmental sustainability while having plentiful communal spaces to create ease for a vibrant family and their guests. Equally important was that the private spaces functioned as a retreat. Natural light creates shifting patterns on the opposing wall of the glass paned hallway leading from the main house past the guest bedrooms and to the master suite. Subtle color palette and interior design use contrasting tactile elements to create an environment of luxury and accessibility. The views of the pool and garden through the large and continuous windows enable an ever-present connection to nature.

Acquiring a new house is an exciting occasion but often has many challenges. My clients came to me to help modernize and update their new home that clearly had not been touched since the 70s. For the kitchen, we removed the dated orange oak cabinetry, tile counter tops, and cracked terra cotta flooring. This enabled us to start from scratch so we could create a light, bright kitchen in the fog and forest colors of the coastal mountain region of the area.
