The kitchen is defined by a large double sided plastered fireplace. The cabinets are all horizontal grain flat panel with light upper cabinets and dark lower cabinets. This formal dining room was in desperate need of an overall design plan. Our client wanted something unique and special. A round live edge dining table with a custom designed metal base was the foundation of the design. We were able to show our client the 3D concept renderings which enabled them to see the full vision of the room…sparking their love for the overall design. Beautiful gold upholstered chairs with acrylic legs surround the dining table. Acrylic accents continue in the drapery hardware, chandelier and buffet lamps to provide a soft modern feel. White on White Kitchen 6008.2 Small Kitchens in traditional older homes present an opportunity for the designer and cabinet maker. Function, space and ease in accommodating a guest or two represent a few of the necessary considerations. Careful planning while creating custom features will ensure a useful kitchen in harmony with contemporary living. Establishing upper cabinets at the ceiling height extends storage while glass doors at the bar area continues to push open the kitchen. By placing the bar surface at the same height as the counter we’ve established an unbroken line to further increase the sense of space. Designing valence and header panels over the window in the same style as the kitchen's doors provides continuity to this custom kitchen and to the history of the home. The home was built in the 1920's in an urban Virginia environment. As was so often the case in the appointments of the home the kitchen was given little space and short attention to design. Opening the kitchen to a hall space with careful attention to simple but functional design enabled a successful arrangement serving the modern lifestyle.

These custom thermally broken luxury doors were needed at this palatial rural home and Ledyard Homes selected Panda Windows and Doors to supply their thermally broken TS.19 in order for the future residents to fully enjoy their outdoor atmosphere from the comfort of their living space. While closed the thermal brake technology engineered into the TS.19 produces an air tight seal which enables the home to save energy and keep the great room interior space comfortable in both winter and summer and during harsh weather conditions. In addition to the energy and thermal benefits the doors also greatly reduce outdoor sound producing a serene environment inside the living space.

Taking their needs into consideration, we created a large open concept design that takes advantage of the natural light and scenery while enabling the owners full accessibility throughout. All the primary rooms are located on the main floor with guest and additional spaces on lower floors. All door widths were increased and a roll thru shower was installed to allow for wheelchair accessibility if required in the future. The entire house is controlled by a state of the art iPad home automation system controlling media, mechanical systems, lighting & security. "Light & Bright" are the items our client wanted us to focus on, with "Light" we wanted to capture as much as natural light from the large windows as possible. As for "Bright" we kept most of the finishes grey and white and clean. Pops of colour and warm hardwood flooring tie the entire space together.

Modern, Colorful, & Comfortable S Interior Design was asked to create an entertainment space that would remind one of an upscale lounge in trendy boutique hotel. The home owner, a single man, had already installed a projection screen that enabled a 20' viewing surface, but nothing else was in the room but hand me down furnishings. All of the furnishings from the dry bar, high top seating area, upholstered seating and window coverings were designed specifically for the room's purpose. Now client's daughter’s room, this room had been functioning as a second guest bedroom and was ready for a makeover, starting with the wall covering. We were able to keep the existing drapes, and repurpose the giant mirror by painting the frame; thus creating a savings in the budget and enabling the client to choose to indulge in a new high-quality chair, a gorgeous, unique, high-end fabric for the ottoman, by Katie Ridder — and the biggest investment, the custom-designed and hand-built bunk bed by Randall Wilson and Sons. The rose-colored hand-knotted oriental rug, sourced via PAK is another high-quality piece that had originally been purchased for the daughter’s nursery and transitioned easily to her new room. A lot of love and time went into designing that custom bed. Especially the detailed railing, the drawer handles, incorporating the bookshelf into the headboard, and the choosing the contrasting wood for the ladder.
