When this suburban family decided to renovate their kitchen, they knew that they wanted a little more space. Advance Design worked together with the homeowner to design a kitchen that would work for a large family who loved to gather regularly and always ended up in the kitchen! So the project began with extending out an exterior wall to accommodate a larger island and more moving-around space between the island and the perimeter cabinetry. Style was important to the cook, who began collecting accessories and photos of the look she loved for months prior to the project design. She was drawn to the brightness of whites and grays, and the design accentuated this color palette brilliantly with the incorporation of a warm shade of brown woods that originated from a dining room table that was a family favorite. Classic gray and white cabinetry from Dura Supreme hits the mark creating a perfect balance between bright and subdued. Hints of gray appear in the bead board detail peeking just behind glass doors, and in the application of the handsome floating wood shelves between cabinets. White subway tile is made extra interesting with the application of dark gray grout lines causing it to be a subtle but noticeable detail worthy of attention. Suede quartz Silestone graces the countertops with a soft matte hint of color that contrasts nicely with the presence of white painted cabinetry finished smartly with the brightness of a milky white farm sink. Old melds nicely with new, as antique bronze accents are sprinkled throughout hardware and fixtures, and work together unassumingly with the sleekness of stainless steel appliances. The grace and timelessness of this sparkling new kitchen maintains the charm and character of a space that has seen generations past. This fall, Amethyst had the opportunity to partner with Freeman Custom Homes of Kansas City to furnish this 5000 sq ft European Modern designed home for the Artisan Home Tour 2020! Every square inch of this home was magical -- from the secret staircase in the master bath leading to a private shuttered plunge pool to the vaulted kitchen with sky high mushroom colored cabinetry and handmade zellige tile. We met the builders during the cabinetry phase and watching their final, thoughtful design details evolve was such full of over-the-top surprises like the unique valet-like storage in the entry and limestone fireplace! As soon as we saw their vision for the home, we knew our furnishings would be a great match as our design style celebrates handmade rugs, artisan handmade custom seating, old-meets-new art, and let's be honest -- we love to go big! They trusted us to do our thing on the entire main level and we enjoyed every minute. The load in took 3 full trucks and fortunately for us -- the homeowners fell in love with several pieces so our uninstall trip was significantly lighter. I think we were all a little emotional leaving this masterpiece but sooooo happy for the owners and just hoping we get invited to a Christmas party... Here are some of the highlights -- 90% of the furnishings and rugs were from our shop and we filled in the gaps with some extra special pieces!

This yard was beat up by Hurricane Irma and my clients took the opportunity to do a major transformation. Designing an outdoor grill station can be a challenge because there are so many options to consider. This is a basic setup with the extra amenity of a living wall of succulents. There are lots of options I consider to match my client's grilling and entertaining style, working to give them a unique solution they can enjoy all year round here in Florida.

A single house that needed the extra touch. A master bathroom that never been touched before transformed into a luxurious bathroom, bright, welcoming, fine bathroom. The couple invested in great materials when they first bought their house so we were able to use the cabinets and reface the kitchen to show fresh and up-to-date look to it. The entire house was painted with a light color to open up the space and make it looks bigger. In order to create a functional living room, we build a media center where now our couple and enjoy movie nights together.

This pool has everything you could possibly want - a water slide and lots of room for everyone to gather around and enjoy the cool blue water! The pergola is useful for entertaining both during the day and in the evening. Landscape lighting throughout also allows you to get the most use out of your pool, water slide, and natural stone landscaping. The pebbled concrete poolside helps to combat slips and adds a little extra interest to a fun backyard retreat.

Kitchen remodel in which the client wanted not only to update her 1980s kitchen, but incorporate items into her kitchen for better functionality. She enjoys entertaining guests by cooking for them, and she wanted a space where she could enjoying cooking while entertaining her family and friends. We incorporated an oversized island with added features for small kitchen appliances for extra workspace while cooking, but once clean was completed the island could serve as a buffet / serving area for entertaining as well.
