This waterside 3-level Fiberon deck project (also with hot tub) is another of our Fiberon projects. It won Deck and Patio a prestigious award. As above, Fiberon’s clean lines vary in tone giving a natural look.
Of course the strong “capped composite” nature of the decking ensures durability — a real boon near salt water. Fiberon looks like wood, but is warranted against staining and fading. No nail holes or wood knots either. www.deckandpatio.com

Archadeck of Birmingham removed the old pool deck on this property and began building a new one from the ground up! Using this approach allowed us to ensure the substructure of the pool deck was up to code and structurally sound. The homeowners chose lovely TimberTech low maintenance decking from the ProTerrain collection in silver maple. This decking capped on all four sides all the way down into the grooves. The capping is made with 100% synthetic materials for total immunity against moisture, making it the perfect choice for a poolside oasis! With an easy to clean surface and color engineered to stay looking new, this decking also comes with a 30-Year Fade & Stain warranty.

This handcrafted Maple hardwood bench combines timeless craftsmanship with meaningful design. Built from solid USA-sourced Maple, this custom bench features brushed nickel base wraps, custom cross inlays, and a warm stain that highlights the natural beauty of the wood. Whether placed alongside a dining table, in an entryway, at the foot of a bed, or in a commercial waiting area, this versatile bench is designed to provide lasting beauty, comfort, and functionality for generations.
This particular bench was custom built for our client in Howell, Michigan, to perfectly complement the existing hardwood tabletops throughout her home. The Maple was carefully stained to create a cohesive look, allowing every handcrafted piece to feel connected while still celebrating the unique character found in natural hardwood.
The details are what truly make this piece one of a kind. Brushed nickel base wraps provide a clean, contemporary contrast against the warmth of the Maple, while custom cross inlays incorporated into each bench end create a meaningful personal touch designed specifically for our client. Every design decision—from the wood species and finish color to the metal accents and custom inlays—was intentionally selected to create a piece that reflects both the home and the family it was built for.
Unlike mass-produced benches made from particle board or veneer, our furniture is handcrafted from solid hardwood that's built to withstand everyday life and become an heirloom for future generations. Every board is carefully selected for its character, durability, and beauty, ensuring no two benches are ever exactly alike.

Project Overview
In Woodinville, WA, our team at M3Decks & Outdoor Living executed a multi-phase, three-year transformation of a 1970s woody walk-up home, converting it into a stunning farmhouse-style retreat. This project, tailored to the client’s vision, showcases our expertise in custom deck construction, structural enhancements, and outdoor living solutions, with a focus on quality and timeless design.
Project Phases
Phase 1: Deck and Entry Deck (Year 1)
Scope: Designed and constructed a composite deck using premium TimberTech materials, paired with a welcoming entry deck to enhance curb appeal. The decks were built with Fortress Steel Framing for durability, aligning with the farmhouse aesthetic through clean lines and rustic charm.
Features: Incorporated a multi-level layout to maximize usable space, with decorative railings and a drink rail cap for functionality and style.
Outcome: The new decks provided a seamless indoor-outdoor flow, transforming the home’s exterior into a functional and inviting space.
Phase 2: Roof Extension and DrySpace Installation (Year 2)
Scope: Extended the roof over the second-story deck and entryway to create a covered outdoor living area. Installed TimberTech DrySpace under the deck to create a dry, usable space below, ideal for a future hot tub.
Design Elements: The roof extension featured farmhouse-inspired gabled roofing with exposed beams, complementing the home’s updated aesthetic. The DrySpace system ensured weather protection for the under-deck area.
Outcome: The covered deck became a year-round outdoor oasis, while the DrySpace addition increased the home’s functional space, adding value and versatility.
Phase 3: Hardscaping (Planned for Year 3)
Scope: Scheduled to return for the final phase, which will focus on hardscaping to complete the outdoor transformation. Plans include a stamped concrete patio, planter boxes with Pacific Northwest-native plants, and a fire pit to enhance the farmhouse vibe.
Goals: Create a cohesive outdoor environment that integrates with the existing deck and roof structures, prioritizing biophilic design principles for a natural, inviting space.
Anticipated Outcome: The hardscaping will finalize the property’s evolution into a luxurious, functional outdoor retreat, perfect for entertaining and relaxation.
Key Features
Farmhouse Aesthetic: Rustic yet modern design with TimberTech composite decking, exposed beam roofing, and farmhouse-inspired detailing.

Do you know what ends our time of enjoying the wonderful Fall colors? Rain. The other day when it rained, it took most of those bright yellow leaves and brought them to the ground. It saddened me not only because the colors were gone, but now the leaves have to be cleaned up. And with the trees being larger, those leaves went everywhere. All over the ground, in the tall bushes, stuck on the window sills, lodged in the gutters and up at the chimney. Nature’s going to happen so, what are the effects of Fall rain and the Chimney? Let’s take a further look.
Fall Rain and the Chimney
The Fall leaves are gorgeous and fall is many homeowners favorite time of year. But as with all seasons, it comes to an end. The Fall rain combined with wind takes those colorful leaves and distributes them…everywhere. Especially on the roof where your chimney is located. By having an annual chimney inspection, we’ll take a look to ensure the safety of your chimney stays intact for the upcoming harsher season: Winter.
The Exterior Chimney
With Fall, we have two of the elements to be concerned about and that’s the leaves and rain. Here are a few areas we check and the effects of fall rain and the chimney. Let’s start at the top:
Chimney Cap: The chimney cap is vital for protecting the opening of your chimney which leads to the interior of your home. We inspect the chimney cap ensuring it is tightly secured to the exterior chimney termination. The chimney is typically the tallest part of your home and gets exposed to the harshest winds, rain, snow, animals and blowing debris. All of that hits the chimney cap trying to find that weak spot so it can get inside the chimney. If it does, that debris is easily ignited and can cause harm to your home.
Chimney Crown: This is the slab of concrete that covers the chimney and extends beyond the bricks or materials that make up the chimney. This is to provide protection from the elements. But remember the chimney crown can also develop cracks over time. This is where crown coat can extend the life of the chimney crown ensuring the elements stay where they should… outside.
Brick, Stone and Mortar: The structure of the chimney can be made of brick, stone or other materials. If it is made of brick or stone, then mortar is involved. All of these materials are porous, meaning that it can absorb water and snow melt, which breaks down over time. As a result, this needs to be checked looking for loose bricks, missing mortar, cracks in either one of these materials and more. Tuckpointing is a good solution to ensure the elements stay out. The use of Chimney Saver is a great way to preserve the bricks, stones and mortar as it waterproofs and protects the materials for about 8 – 10 years and slows down the aging process.
Flashing: This is the material that protects the connection of the roof to the chimney. A critical and common area for leaks. The flashing moves the water away from the chimney and down the roof. The flashing adheres to the chimney with a seal, which dries out over time. This area needs to be checked to ensure the seal is strong and doesn’t allow water to get in.
Before the cold sets in and you want to turn on or fire up the fireplace, be sure to take into consideration the effects of fall rain and the chimney. Contact us today at 877-244-6349 to set up an appointment.

This basement’s bar area rivals any sports bar! The large football mural is actually laser-cut customized wallpaper. The bar itself was created out of reclaimed pine with a honed granite counter and support bars and footrails made from reclaimed black pipes. The front of the bar has wood trim offset by steel inlays. Behind the bar there is a sink and beverage center, complete with an icemaker and wine refrigerator. That distinctive backsplash is whitewashed “Chicago” brick and it is a great focal point that offsets the TV. The adjacent eating area has weathered shiplap walls and a silver, tin ceiling. The column separating the two spaces is wood with steel inlays, the same steel that was used beneath the front of the bar.
Welcome to this sports lover’s paradise in West Chester, PA! We started with the completely blank palette of an unfinished basement and created space for everyone in the family by adding a main television watching space, a play area, a bar area, a full bathroom and an exercise room. The floor is COREtek engineered hardwood, which is waterproof and durable, and great for basements and floors that might take a beating. Combining wood, steel, tin and brick, this modern farmhouse looking basement is chic and ready to host family and friends to watch sporting events!

This new deck addition was built using low-maintenance TimberTech decking in Ashwood from their Pro Legacy Collection. This decking will ensure any gray skies will turn to blue as this decking requires very little maintenance on the part of the homeowners. Four-sided capping makes it extremely resistant to moisture damage, and its protective surface resists everyday stains and scratches. These qualities make this decking board perfect for use around pools, docks and water features (like a hot tub)!

Stairways that have a baluster add beauty to a home. However, if the baluster is broken, then this can cause the stairs to look bad. Fortunately, it is not that difficult to replace a broken baluster. Below are some of the steps you will need to take:
Remove The End Cap
It is important to be very careful when you are replacing the baluster. You will need to keep the baluster intact so that a wood turner will be able to make an exact copy of it. You will most likely need to remove the end cap from the stairs. Break the seal that is between the tread and the end cap using a sturdy knife or pry bar.
Breaking The Baluster
If you do not want to salvage the baluster, then you do have other options. You can use a hammer to loosen the nails at the top of the baluster. Make sure that you do not damage the adjacent balusters or handrail. You can use your hands to loosen the bottom half of the baluster. Make sure you use gentle force.
Create A New Baluster
Unless you are fortunate enough to have the same baluster at a local home center, you are going to need a wood turner to make a new baluster. Make sure you tell your wood turner the specific type of wood you need. If you are not concerned about the original color, then you will need to select the wood that is the hardest. Ask the wood turner to leave the spindles intact. This may make it harder for you to fit the baluster into the staircase. However, this reduces the chances of getting a misfit from the wood turner.
Prepare The Stairs
It will likely take one or two weeks to turn a baluster. You can prepare the stairs during this time. Clean up the area around the stairs. Put the end cap back on the stair tread. Measure the tread to where the new baluster and handrail will meet on the upstairs side.
Prepare The Baluster
You can prepare the baluster by sanding it smooth. Measure from the bottom of the baluster to the bottom of the tenon joint. Cut the top end of the baluster so that it matches the handrail's slope. Hold a T-Bevel against the handrail's underside where the new baluster will go. Mark the angle with a pencil.
Install The Bottom Of The Baluster
Insert the tenon inside of the mortise. After that, position the top of it in the middle of the handrail's underside.
Install The Top Of The Baluster
Make sure the tenon is straight by using a carpenter's level. Have someone hold it in place in order to ensure that it matches the angle of the other balusters. Place one nail into the baluster's upstairs side. You most likely will not need more than two finishing nails. Remove dust by wiping off the baluster. Use painter's tape to mask off the handrail and stair tread. Stain or paint the new baluster.

The Tremont Bedroom Collection is Campaign design at best—furniture carried by British officers during the 18th and 19th centuries. Pieces were made for easy transport and assembly—hence the rugged leather straps and corner cap details to ensure safe travel and the longevity of furnishings while en route to and from destinations far from home. Handcrafted of solid hardwood and finished in Dry Branch Black, a beautifully weathered and warm honey tone, then adorned with brass hardware and leather accents, Tremont is classic in its styling.

South Louisiana Avenue in Mason City: Installed American Classic Insulated siding, Tando Shake and EcoSmart Vinyl Replacement Windows. This home will save energy and completely reduce any maintenance cost for years to come.
Chad Arndt, a 15 years sales veteran with Midwest Construction office, located at 1601-South Taft, Mason City with an Office/Showroom and warehouses worked with this homeowner to fix the problem, add energy efficiency and eliminate maintenance so they can enjoy their family time and not be a slave to the house on the weekends.
The homeowners started by replacing their windows a few at a time until that project was finished. The advantage of doing them a few at a time: Midwest Construction’s Price Lock Guarantee (as long as the homeowner purchases windows within 1 year of the installation date we will guarantee the prices will stay the same). Another big advantage was the homeowners got to live with their new EcoSmart replacement windows for all four season to make sure the windows performed like the sales representative said they would, and the installer did the job they were to do. That gives homeowners some peace of mind and comfort knowing they chose the right window and the right company.
The next project was the big one siding for the house and the 3 stall custom sized garage.
American Classic Double – 4 Insulated Premium Vinyl siding with Tando Rough Sawn Cedar Shingle Shakes to Accent the front of the house and garage.
All of the windows had been previously capped with aluminum PVC coil stock with brick mold pattern to add some contoured lines to the window casings.
All of the soffits and fascias(Eves & Overhangs) were covered with American Classic center ridge vinyl soffit and custom bent PVC aluminum coil stock to give this home true maintenance freedom.
