Supporting spaces throughout the lower level were equally transformed. An outdated bathroom was fully renovated to reflect the home's dark and moody aesthetic, incorporating a curbless shower, rustic vanity, and layered finishes that balance comfort with style. Two underutilized bedrooms were thoughtfully reconfigured to better support the homeowner's lifestyle, with one becoming a dedicated home office and the other opening into a flexible music room designed for creativity and relaxation. Additional unfinished crawlspace and storage areas were reclaimed to create a private home gym, maximizing every square foot of the home's footprint. Existing high-quality windows were retained and transformed through selective replacement, custom trim work, and thoughtful refinishing, delivering the desired look while avoiding unnecessary expense. Additional savings came from a creative exterior repair solution that replicated the home's original stucco detailing without requiring a complete façade replacement. A vacant, worn office space should be transformed into a show apartment / showroom. The existing space had been used as an office structure since the 1960s. Located on the 4th floor of a ten-floor reinforced concrete skeleton, the area is already high enough to receive a great amount of light, which is particularly noticeable at dawn and dusk: sunrises and sunsets conjure up the most spellbinding blends of light. The existing structure and also the technical equipment were completely outdated and needed to be completely rebuilt: suspended ceilings were removed and walls changed. The result is a modern city apartment of almost 100 m2 (about 1,070 sqft) – divided into a large living space, 2 rooms, 1 bathroom, 1 powder room and 1 utility room. The existing window facades could not be changed, but they are part of the concept anyway, namely to bring as much light as possible into the room. A controlled ventilation system ensures optimal air quality even with closed windows. The central kitchen element serves as a kind of separation of the living area and the dining area. Here customers and guests are served, people communicate, cook together, drink a glass of wine. Clients experience living. The rough reinforced concrete ribbed slaps were uncovered and painted white to give the room more height, which is accentuated by the lighting concept with ceiling-mounted spotlights. The dark oak floor creates a successful contrast to the brightly designed rooms. The wittily positioned pedestal areas hide all technical elements, such as the supply air openings of the living room ventilation. Flush-fitting door elements in the walls with a chalked brick look show in detail the special feature of the room. The central wall elements were deliberately not pulled up to the ceiling, but are separated by a glass element to show the continuity of the construction. Most of the furniture was designed by Wolfgang Pichler. Within the course of this project he was able to implement his holistic approach in the field of construction technology, architecture and furniture design and skillfully combine it with design classics. Scandinavian classics can be found in the concept just as much as pieces he collected during his career and furniture he developed for the company VITEO, which he founded in 2002. The project illustrates the added value of an architectural holistic approach.

Lighting in the display row This unique space, an underground, under the house custom wine cellar built by Vintage Cellars, truly showcases the ability to transform any unused space in the house into a magnificent wine room, no matter what the size. This wine cellar utilized dark stain on the Walnut racking to further increase the underground cellar feel. Jake at Vintage Cellars along with the owners of the home collaborated to create multiple spaces within the wine cellar itself- an area for bottle storage as well as a separate wine room space for decanting and pouring wine, as well as social get-togethers. Within the social wine room, a credenza style cabinet has been utilized for white wine and champagne storage. A credenza cabinet, or any wine refrigerator or wine cabinet such as this is a perfect option to keep your whites and champagnes at a cooler temperature, ready for serving to guests anytime. This custom wine cellar in Beverly Hills, Los Angeles, California posed a challenge for our wine cellar builders. Building a custom wine cellar requires a keen eye for detail. The floor and ceiling were not even in this wine room, and so extra effort was required to ensure that the custom wine racks, flooring and the like were properly fitted. As you can see, the wine cellar builders were successful in their endeavor; this large wine cellar turned out fantastic! So much open horizontal storage was used due to cement footings for the house. Every inch of racking was designed at specifics depths to accommodate the different wall depths. Located in a beautiful spot within Wellesley, Massachusetts, Sunspace Design played a key role in introducing this architectural gem to a client’s home—a custom double hip skylight crowning a gorgeous room. The resulting construction offers fluid transitions between indoor and outdoor spaces within the home, and blends well with the existing architecture. The skylight boasts solid mahogany framing with a robust steel sub-frame. Durability meets sophistication. We used a layer of insulated tempered glass atop heat-strengthened laminated safety glass, further enhanced with a PPG Solarban 70 coating, to ensure optimal thermal performance. The dual-sealed, argon gas-filled glass system is efficient and resilient against oft-challenging New England weather. Collaborative effort was key to the project’s success. MASS Architect, with their skylight concept drawings, inspired the project’s genesis, while Sunspace prepared a full suite of engineered shop drawings to complement the concepts. The local general contractor's preliminary framing and structural curb preparation accelerated our team’s installation of the skylight. As the frame was assembled at the Sunspace Design shop and positioned above the room via crane operation, a swift two-day field installation saved time and expense for all involved. At Sunspace Design we’re all about pairing natural light with refined architecture. This double hip skylight is a focal point in the new room that welcomes the sun’s radiance into the heart of the client’s home. Composed of two distinct buildings connected by an inner courtyard, this new five-unit development stands out through its unique layout, architecture, and exceptional attention to detail. The construction required rigorous planning and precise technical execution, particularly due to major excavation work and underpinning of adjacent buildings. Such interventions in a dense urban environment demand specialized expertise and tight project management at every phase of the build. Conceived as an income-generating property, the clients benefited from our strategic support to ensure the profitability, efficiency, and optimization of their investment. Modulor worked closely with the team at Appareil Architecture to bring to life a project of high architectural integrity. Binôme’s architecture draws inspiration from the area's industrial past: clean volumes, red brick, generous openings reminiscent of former workshops, and elegant brick colonnades form a refined and cohesive ensemble. The central courtyard, designed as a luminous and welcoming shared space, becomes the vibrant heart of the project. A colorful metal staircase, crafted by Atomic Soudure, connects both buildings and adds a distinctive, curated touch. As a finalist for the 2025 Ordre des architectes du Québec Awards of Excellence, Binôme stands as a model of successful urban revitalization. It illustrates how thoughtful, well-executed construction can elevate Montreal’s built environment while addressing today’s densification challenges.
