When a client with an attached ADU asked me to remodel the tired 1990s bathroom, I looked to her love of nature and sparkle to create what I call “The Birds and the Bees Bathroom.” She wanted the tub-shower combo removed in favor of a curbless walk-in shower so I took advantage of this change to use a focal point as an anchor for the now-barrier free shower at the end of the room. I chose a large porcelain mural reminiscent of lyrical botanical illustrations from the early 1900s, complete with birds perched on colorful flowering branches. My client fell in love with a dimensional glass tile in the shape of a honeycomb in an equally honey-colored hue—a reference to life-giving bees—which I used to frame the mural and line the shower niche. The shower walls are clad with porcelain tiles that mimic the look of Cloud Onyx without the tedious maintenance such a fragile stone requires. The easy-care porcelain tiles on the floor look like plank wood and lend an organic sense, and are complimented by the rich wood vanity. The end result is like showering in a bright, fresh garden! The nursery is a room unto itself: dusty blue walls and ceiling meet a framed safari toile accent wall, a vintage-inspired black iron crib, and a dramatic black woven drum pendant. Classic and cool with just the right amount of edge. A moody bonus room doubles as a home theater, with dark walls, wood slat paneling, and plush oversized sofas tucked under a sloped ceiling. The primary bathroom rounds out the project with a floor-to-ceiling charcoal shaker vanity, matte black fixtures, and white quartz — sleek, modern, and confident. The kitchen cabinets are in the Park Place door style in a Sea Dance Green finish, complimented with Cambria Brittanicca Gold countertops. The kitchen also includes a Kohler faucet and MDC D Shape sink. "I had a fantastic experience with the design and installation team at Reico. They were professional, talented, and easy to work with. Nancy, my designer, took my color preferences and created a beautiful design, addressing all my concerns about layout and budget effortlessly,” said the client. “Once the installation started, I was equally impressed with that team and process. My favorite part of the cabinets is the decision to use deep drawers on the island. I also love the gold handles and the way they accent the gold in the gorgeous countertops. Charcoal siding, with its tremendous range and adaptability, looks equally in the outdoors when coupled with materials that are fascinated by the landscape. The exterior is exquisite from Fiber Cement Lap Siding and Fiber Cement Shingle Siding which is complemented with white door trims and frieze board. The appeal of this charcoal grey siding as an exterior tint is its flexibility and versatility. Subtle changes in tone and surrounding frame may result in a stunning array of home designs!

One makeshift office was squeezed into the dining room, while another was relegated to the basement. A former juliette balcony was converted into a dedicated office space, providing a peaceful and productive work-from-home environment. The dated and cluttered ensuite bathroom received a luxurious makeover. A clever pull-out storage system in the shower wall and a spacious niche provided much-needed organization. While every renovation project has its challenges, this one was remarkably smooth. The only significant hurdle was some additional structural work required in the basement to support the new office space. Our experienced team handled this efficiently, minimizing any disruption. The final result is a home that truly reflects the family's personality and lifestyle. The laundry room, now a cheerful and organized space with soft green cabinets, patterned floor tiles, and gold accents, showcases our attention to detail. The kitchen is a stunning centerpiece, featuring a striking combination of blue and white cabinets, dark hardwood floors, and a sleek white backsplash. The adjacent beverage bar, with its glass-fronted upper cabinets, provides an elegant space for entertaining. Beyond the physical transformation, it was the shared moments and laughter that made this project truly special. The family's enthusiasm and good humor were contagious. One of the clients, with his big personality, even starred in a walk-through video of the finished project, showcasing his infectious joy. From choosing tiles to navigating unexpected challenges, the entire process was filled with warmth and collaboration. Even their four-year-old son, initially shy, warmed up to our site leader, Gus, nicknaming him "Gus the Bus," a moniker that endeared him to the entire team.

While the bones of this house were absolutely modern, past renovations were feeling dated and needed a refresh. Bathrooms, living, kitchen and bedrooms all received the keen eye of a talented designer and equally artful homeowner. The result a beautiful modern with tons of warmth and texture throughout.

This stunning glass enclosed modern custom wine cellar was designed and installed by Vintage Cellars. The Contemporary Custom Wine Room was fitted into an existing fireplace space, turning the visually unappealing sore thumb of the room into a magnificent show stopping centerpiece. This modern luxury condo on the 31st floor in a downtown San Diego high-rise acted as a very interesting project for the custom wine cellar design team at Vintage Cellars. The modern wine room space has dual paned, insulated glass but because of the nature of glass itself, the cooling unit was recommended to be oversized. The custom wine room space itself didn't have great options for venting the cooling unit due to the location on the 31st floor. The best option to vent was determined to treat the wine room as a wine cabinet, per se. The Cooling Unit, a CellarPro 1800 XTS, was placed in the ceiling, venting down cool air and circulating vented air back upward. The result works perfectly for a uniquely modern and contemporary space such as this. This fully enclosed, glass front custom wine cellar boasts a 300 bottle capacity with a sleek, modern, label forward feel that ULTRA Wine Peg racking is known for. The center section is a double stacked full reveal display row, showcasing some of the homeowner's finer wines. Though no particular space was made within the wine racking area, the design of this modern custom wine cellar was pushed back a couple of feet so that wine case storage could be an option between the glass front and the custom racking. Additionally, the clean feel goes even further upon looking for the entrance into this wine cellar. The flat panel on the furthest left side opens slowly and almost magically when pushed in slightly. A great, modern touch! A gorgeous, modern condo such as this is just begging to have a custom wine cellar. This space, with big help from this contemporary wine room, screams luxury upon entering.
