This 2022 project for Sovereign Grace Music was a full-scale, purpose-built recording and production facility designed to support songwriting, live tracking, mixing, and video content creation. Working alongside the extraordinary Sovereign Grace team—and in collaboration with Authentic Carpentry—NILES handled sound reduction, audio integration, and all acoustic treatment design and installation.
The facility features a full Control Room, a spacious Live Room, and a large Isolation Booth engineered for dry drum capture or vocal tracking during full-band sessions. Each space was crafted for accuracy, clarity, and intuitive workflow, ensuring that engineers and artists can move seamlessly between rooms without breaking creative momentum.
Clear sightlines, generous lighting, and intentional layout choices make the studio equally suited for recording and video production. Every room is wired for a plug-and-play workflow, supporting multi-camera shoots, ensemble tracking, and efficient session flow.
Behind the aesthetic, the acoustic infrastructure is highly robust. The Control Room, Live Room, and ISO Booth sit on independent floor systems with tailored sound-reducing wall assemblies and strategic treatments throughout. No suite is mechanically bonded, allowing simultaneous use of all rooms with minimal sound transmission.
Monitoring in the Control Room centers around PMC 6-2 loudspeakers, precisely tuned to ensure accurate translation from mix position to the final master.
The result is a balanced, inviting, and technically exact environment—built to serve the diverse creative needs of Sovereign Grace Music for years to come.

When a client with an attached ADU asked me to remodel the tired 1990s bathroom, I looked to her love of nature and sparkle to create what I call “The Birds and the Bees Bathroom.” She wanted the tub-shower combo removed in favor of a curbless walk-in shower so I took advantage of this change to use a focal point as an anchor for the now-barrier free shower at the end of the room. I chose a large porcelain mural reminiscent of lyrical botanical illustrations from the early 1900s, complete with birds perched on colorful flowering branches. My client fell in love with a dimensional glass tile in the shape of a honeycomb in an equally honey-colored hue—a reference to life-giving bees—which I used to frame the mural and line the shower niche. The shower walls are clad with porcelain tiles that mimic the look of Cloud Onyx without the tedious maintenance such a fragile stone requires. The easy-care porcelain tiles on the floor look like plank wood and lend an organic sense, and are complimented by the rich wood vanity. The end result is like showering in a bright, fresh garden!

This crisp, white kitchen balances clean-lined cabinetry with the warmth of rich hardwood flooring underfoot. Marble-veined quartz countertops and a matching full-height backsplash lend a polished, cohesive backdrop for the stainless steel appliances, while brushed nickel bar pulls add a subtle architectural detail throughout. A pass-through opening keeps the space feeling open and connected, and thoughtful touches — a magnetic knife block, a rotating spice rack, integrated task lighting beneath the upper cabinets — reflect a kitchen designed for both everyday function and effortless entertaining. The result is a bright, sophisticated space that feels equally at home for a quiet morning coffee or a full dinner party.

The mix of tailored furnishings and organic elements creates a refined yet relaxed atmosphere—equally suited for bourbon tastings, game nights, or shooting pool in the billiards room. Thoughtful lighting and bold artwork bring depth and personality, while the open layout allows the space to flow effortlessly from bar to game table to lounge. This HouseHome renovation was a full down-to-the-studs transformation that brought a dated 1970s home into modern luxury living. We raised ceilings, restructured layouts, and redesigned every space with a fresh, contemporary perspective.
The kitchen was completely reinvented—elevated from its original condition to a sleek, sophisticated space with improved flow, modern finishes, and a bright, open feel ideal for both everyday living and entertaining.
The bathroom received an equally dramatic redesign, anchored by a bold Monstera feature wall that adds artistic depth. To balance the small footprint, we paired white walls, black penny tile flooring, and warm brass accents, creating a fresh yet timeless, ultra-contemporary look that feels both airy and dramatic.
Throughout the dining areas, we enhanced natural light and architectural volume, introducing refined textures, modern furnishings, and a cohesive palette that ties the entire home together.
The result is a fully reimagined residence—stylish, expressive, and effortlessly modern—showcasing HouseHome’s signature approach to luxury renovation and contemporary interior design.

This project involved the complete renovation of one of the client's bathrooms to create a luxurious, elegant and modern space.
The focal point of the bathroom is the gorgeous shower area which features white wavy tiles that create a beautiful wave-like pattern on the walls. A sleek niche in the shower is accented with pebble tiles, adding a touch of texture and visual interest to the space. The linear drain and gray floor tiles give the shower an ultra-modern feel.
The double sink vanity is equally impressive, with a light gray finish that complements the shower tiles perfectly. The gray and white subway tiles surrounding the vanity area create a classic and timeless look. The very sleek light floor tile used throughout the bathroom brings the whole space together, adding to the modern and sophisticated feel.
The "Wave of Elegance" bathroom renovation project demonstrates our commitment to providing high-quality workmanship and outstanding design. The end result was a beautiful bathroom that exceeded the client's expectations and will be enjoyed for many years to come.

This living room remodel in Raleigh NC by Lavish transforms a dated fireplace wall into a refined, timeless focal point with custom built-ins and a natural stone surround.
Our clients wanted to elevate the heart of their living room — trading a builder-grade mantel and pink-toned walls for something warm, elegant, and full of character. Lavish reworked the fireplace with a cast-stone surround and marble tile, then flanked it with custom cabinetry and floating oak shelves for display and storage.
Layered brass picture lights, an equestrian oil painting, aged-brass accents, and soft neutral upholstery give the space a collected, gallery-like feel. The result is a comfortable, sophisticated room that works equally well for quiet evenings and entertaining.
Lavish designs and remodels living spaces across the Triangle and the North Carolina coast, from Raleigh to Wrightsville Beach and Wilmington.

This stunning glass enclosed modern custom wine cellar was designed and installed by Vintage Cellars earlier this year. The Contemporary Custom Wine Room was fitted into an existing fireplace space, turning the visually unappealing sore thumb of the room into a magnificent show stopping centerpiece.
This modern luxury condo on the 31st floor in a downtown San Diego high-rise acted as a very interesting project for the custom wine cellar design team at Vintage Cellars. The modern wine room space has dual paned, insulated glass but because of the nature of glass itself, the cooling unit was recommended to be oversized.
The custom wine room space itself didn't have great options for venting the cooling unit due to the location on the 31st floor. The best option to vent was determined to treat the wine room as a wine cabinet, per se. The Cooling Unit, a CellarPro 1800 XTS, was placed in the ceiling, venting down cool air and circulating vented air back upward. The result works perfectly for a uniquely modern and contemporary space such as this.
This fully enclosed, glass front custom wine cellar boasts a 300 bottle capacity with a sleek, modern, label forward feel that ULTRA Wine Peg racking is known for. The center section is a double stacked full reveal display row, showcasing some of the homeowner's finer wines.
Though no particular space was made within the wine racking area, the design of this modern custom wine cellar was pushed back a couple of feet so that wine case storage could be an option between the glass front and the custom racking.
Additionally, the clean feel goes even further upon looking for the entrance into this wine cellar. The flat panel on the furthest left side opens slowly and almost magically when pushed in slightly. A great, modern touch!
A gorgeous, modern condo such as this is just begging to have a custom wine cellar. This space, with big help from this contemporary wine room, screams luxury upon entering. The clean, modern and sleek style within the home has found its match with an equally stunning custom wine room.

This design captures the spirit of eclectic modernity—boldly combining texture, form, and soulful detail. It embraces both clean contemporary lines and layered, curated elements, resulting in a space that feels thoughtfully collected, not predictable.
Textural richness is at the forefront—soft upholstery pairs with sleek surfaces, and mixed finishes (polished metals, matte woods, and plush textiles) create a tactile and visual dialogue. The contrast between refined and cozy elements builds warmth and sophistication.
The layout balances openness with intimacy. Thoughtfully placed furniture and visual rhythms guide movement through the space, allowing each area to feel both connected and distinct.
Lighting is composed with subtlety and intention—ambient fixtures and layered lighting gently sculpt the environment. Shadows and highlights enhance the ambiance without overpowering the architectural interplay.
This space tells a story of modern living infused with personality. It’s dynamic yet grounded—inviting curiosity, conversation, and comfort in equal measure.

Bold Pattern, Warm Soul — Whole-Home Interior Design & Renovation | Raleigh, NC
This project is proof that a home can have a strong point of view and still feel completely livable. The homeowners wanted personality — spaces that felt collected, intentional, and a little unexpected. The result is a whole-home transformation where every room tells part of the same cohesive story.
The kitchen serves as the heart of it all. Sage green cabinetry with raised panel detailing wraps the entire space, while a bold large-scale botanical wallpaper in warm cream, brown, and black makes an unforgettable statement. The pattern doesn't stop at the kitchen walls — it carries through the built-in bar area and connects to the living room, creating a visual thread that ties the main floor together. White Calacatta-style quartz countertops and backsplash, matte black hardware, mercury glass pendants, and a built-in Sub-Zero refrigerator with custom cabinet surround complete the kitchen's layered look. A built-in window seat breakfast nook with sage cushions adds charm and function in equal measure.
The living room anchors the home with drama and warmth. A floor-to-ceiling walnut wood slat accent wall frames the fireplace and soars to the two-story ceiling, flanked by white built-in bookshelves lined with the same botanical wallpaper. The furniture palette — white linen sofa, cognac leather mid-century chairs, and a natural wood coffee table — keeps the space grounded and inviting against the bold backdrop.
The nursery is a room unto itself: dusty blue walls and ceiling meet a framed safari toile accent wall, a vintage-inspired black iron crib, and a dramatic black woven drum pendant. Classic and cool with just the right amount of edge.
A moody bonus room doubles as a home theater, with dark walls, wood slat paneling, and plush oversized sofas tucked under a sloped ceiling. The primary bathroom rounds out the project with a floor-to-ceiling charcoal shaker vanity, matte black fixtures, and white quartz — sleek, modern, and confident.
Every room was designed and executed by a single team — from concept to completion.

This grand Adirondack kitchen exemplifies elegant luxury through its thoughtful dual-island design. The striking contrast between dark blue island cabinetry and crisp white perimeter cabinets creates a sophisticated focal point, while 2" thick mitered Phoenix Sky quartz countertops and matching full-slab backsplash add ethereal movement throughout the space.
Each island, equipped with its own sink, serves distinct purposes for meal preparation and entertaining. The dramatic wall of floor-to-ceiling cabinetry houses professional-grade appliances including a wall oven, speed oven, and built-in coffee maker, seamlessly integrated among tall pantry storage. A 2" custom cherry wood countertop along the window wall adds organic warmth to the pristine space.
The kitchen's functionality is elevated through premium interior accessories: a mixer lift eliminates the need to hoist heavy appliances, while specialized storage solutions like tray dividers, angled utensil organizers, and illuminated pull-out pantries maximize every inch of space. One-touch mechanical systems for trash and recycling bins exemplify the kitchen's marriage of convenience and luxury. The result is a chef's haven that handles both intimate family meals and large-scale entertaining with equal grace.

Strategic design turns a busy location into a secret garden.
The bustling commuter road right outside was the only thing standing in the way of our client’s happiness with their new home. Though moving Foxhall Road wasn’t an option, the team at D. A. Dunlevy came up with an equally appealing solution. The landscape design incorporated plantings of various heights with impressive stone walls and walkways, and was completed with custom automatic entry gates. The resulting design provides much-needed privacy and a buffer from the busy road, safety for the children, and a stunning landscape that will continue to impress over the years.

As a part of a larger transformation, the kitchen served as an anchor for rethinking how the home could feel and function. The goal was to create a space that felt truly integrated, flowed naturally within itself, and connected seamlessly to the outdoors. Storage was a top priority, with an emphasis on keeping countertops clean and the space feeling calm and open. Flow was equally important. What began as a layout optimized for entertaining evolved into a more intentional approach, where every sightline and transition was thoughtfully considered. The clients also needed the kitchen to work hard for their lifestyle, with a commercial-size refrigerator and freezer, generous prep space, and room to gather. The challenge was to bring purpose and polish to a space that didn’t quite feel like it belonged. The result is a kitchen that’s not only highly functional but finally feels like part of the home.
Project challenges:
- Maximizing storage was a primary challenge, especially with the inclusion of a commercial-sized fridge and freezer that occupied valuable cabinetry space.
- The need for clean, uninterrupted lines throughout the kitchen required thoughtful detailing, especially around cabinetry transitions and appliance integration.
- The oversized island design required two stone slabs and waterfall edges on both sides which posed both visual and logistical challenges.
- Incorporating electrical outlets into the island in a way that felt intentional and unobtrusive demanded creative problem-solving.
- The unique rooflines created strong visual angles that required a considered design approach to ensure the space felt cohesive rather than disjointed.
- Balancing symmetry and flow in a kitchen with structural constraints required precise layout planning to maintain a cohesive visual rhythm.
- Creating an intentional indoor/outdoor living flow, especially in the transitional space between the sliding doors to the backyard and the kitchen.
Project solutions:
- To balance the visual weight of the commercial-grade fridge and freezer, we flanked the range and hood with full-height pocket cabinetry, which created symmetry while reclaiming storage space. We also took a look into internal organization and carefully mapped out where every kitchen item would live. This allowed us to make informed decisions about drawer versus door configurations, and when to incorporate features like roll-out shelving to maximize accessibility and function.
- Linear light fixtures above the island were chosen for their low visual impact, allowing sightlines to remain clear and emphasizing the thoughtful spatial layout.
- The oversized island was carefully executed using two coordinated slabs, with a subtle brass inlay detail between them to turn a logistical challenge into a design feature.
- Pop-up electrical outlets were integrated into the island to keep surfaces clutter-free while maintaining easy access, which combined form and function seamlessly.
- With multiple focal points and a peaked vaulted ceiling, layout precision was key. The island, hood, and adjacent staircase were all perfectly centered on the vault, creating a sense of alignment across the open space.
- In the transitional area between kitchen and backyard, we added a wet bar that visually and functionally connects the indoor space with the outdoors. This addition provides extra storage and creates a dedicated entertainment spot for guests, enhancing the overall flow and usability of the home.

Nancy Knickerbocker of Reico Kitchen and Bath in Southern Pines, NC collaborated with Chis Sowell to design a transitional style kitchen design featuring Green Forest cabinetry.
The kitchen cabinets are in the Park Place door style in a Sea Dance Green finish, complimented with Cambria Brittanicca Gold countertops. The kitchen also includes a Kohler faucet and MDC D Shape sink.
"I had a fantastic experience with the design and installation team at Reico. They were professional, talented, and easy to work with. Nancy, my designer, took my color preferences and created a beautiful design, addressing all my concerns about layout and budget effortlessly,” said the client.
“Once the installation started, I was equally impressed with that team and process. My favorite part of the cabinets is the decision to use deep drawers on the island. I also love the gold handles and the way they accent the gold in the gorgeous countertops. The colors make all the difference to me. I have and will continue to recommend Reico to anyone who ever needs quality kitchen and bathroom design, products and installation.”
“This was so much fun! The Sea Dance Green cabinetry was a new introduction and the homeowner chose it immediately. The gold accessories and the Brittanicca Gold countertop look great. The most challenging part of this design was that I had not visited prior to the project start. With notes, plans and communication with our Reico installer, all went well. This included some custom work to enclose the refrigerator between two pantries. The homeowner was happy with the results and we're proud of the finished project!” said Nancy.

The family's once-loved home had become a source of frustration. Their kitchen, a space meant for gathering and creating, felt cramped and outdated. Limited storage and poor organization made meal prep a tedious task, and entertaining guests a logistical nightmare. The laundry room, often overlooked, was equally problematic. Its cramped layout and lack of storage made laundry day a chore, and the noise of the washing machine echoed through the living room.
To compound the issue, the absence of dedicated office spaces made working from home a constant struggle. One makeshift office was squeezed into the dining room, while another was relegated to the basement.
The family was hesitant to embark on a major renovation, fearing the challenges and uncertainties that come with such a project. Finding a reliable contractor, ensuring timely completion, and worrying about potential shoddy workmanship were all valid concerns.
We understood their anxieties and were committed to providing a smooth and stress-free experience. Our team crafted a design that addressed each of their concerns, transforming their home into a functional and stylish space.
We reimagined the laundry room, creating a custom storage solution and incorporating a stackable washer and dryer. The open hallway to the living room was enclosed, creating a spacious closet with ample storage. The laundry room now seamlessly connected to the kitchen, simplifying the grocery unloading process.
A former juliette balcony was converted into a dedicated office space, providing a peaceful and productive work-from-home environment.
The dated and cluttered ensuite bathroom received a luxurious makeover. A clever pull-out storage system in the shower wall and a spacious niche provided much-needed organization.
While every renovation project has its challenges, this one was remarkably smooth. The only significant hurdle was some additional structural work required in the basement to support the new office space. Our experienced team handled this efficiently, minimizing any disruption.
The final result is a home that truly reflects the family's personality and lifestyle. The laundry room, now a cheerful and organized space with soft green cabinets, patterned floor tiles, and gold accents, showcases our attention to detail.
The kitchen is a stunning centerpiece, featuring a striking combination of blue and white cabinets, dark hardwood floors, and a sleek white backsplash. The adjacent beverage bar, with its glass-fronted upper cabinets, provides an elegant space for entertaining.
The ensuite bathroom is a spa-like retreat, with large-format marble tiles, a black vanity, and chrome fixtures creating an atmosphere of understated luxury.
The renovation has had a profound impact on the family's daily life. Ample storage throughout the house has banished clutter, making it easier to maintain a tidy home. The seamless flow from the laundry room to the kitchen has streamlined the grocery unloading process, and the dedicated office spaces have transformed the work-from-home experience.
Beyond the physical transformation, it was the shared moments and laughter that made this project truly special. The family's enthusiasm and good humor were contagious. One of the clients, with his big personality, even starred in a walk-through video of the finished project, showcasing his infectious joy.
From choosing tiles to navigating unexpected challenges, the entire process was filled with warmth and collaboration. Even their four-year-old son, initially shy, warmed up to our site leader, Gus, nicknaming him "Gus the Bus," a moniker that endeared him to the entire team.
