Our clients approached us to transform their urban backyard into an outdoor living space that would provide them with plenty of options for outdoor dining, entertaining, and soaking up the sun while complementing the modern architectural style of their Virginia Highlands home. Challenged with a small “in-town” lot and strict city zoning requirements, we maximized the space by creating a custom, sleek, geometric swimming pool and flush spa with decorative concrete coping, a large tanning ledge with loungers and a seating bench that runs the entire width of the pool. The raised beam features a dramatic wall of sheer descent waterfalls and adds a spectacular design element to this contemporary pool and backyard retreat.
An outdoor kitchen, complete with streamlined aluminum outdoor cabinets, gray concrete countertops, custom vent hood, built in grill, sink, storage and Big Green Egg sits at one end of the covered patio and a lounge area with an outdoor fireplace, TV, and casual seating sits at the other end. A custom built in bar and beverage station with matching raw concrete countertops provides additional entertainment space and storage when hosting larger parties and get togethers. The bluestone patio and cedar tongue and groove ceiling add a luxurious feel to the space.
Overlooking the pool is a stylish and comfortable outdoor dining area that is the perfect gathering spot for al fresco dining and a welcome respite from city living. The minimalist landscape design and natural looking artificial grass is modern and low maintenance and blends in beautifully with this artfully designed outdoor sanctuary.

This large galley kitchen was taken down to the studs, and re-imagined to be bright and cheery. The traditional white cabinets feature glass-front doors and hidden features such as pull-out garbage bins, tray storage and dishwasher. The large cast-iron farm house sink from Kohler features double bowls that are separated with a low divider, making it easy to clean large trays and pans.

We wanted to create a comfortable and tranquil retreat in this sunroom, a place where my clients could lounge and escape the world. We used oversized chaises, a soft color story, and interesting textures to accomplish this relaxed aesthetic. We layered warm, sandy creams and soft grays to create a casual, monochromatic palette that lends itself to a more subdued eclectic vibe and a truly relaxed atmosphere.
We also made sure to incorporate a whole jungle worth of plants! Plants are the best way to bring life into your home. Not only do plants beautify your space, but they also have some pretty wonderful health benefits! They detoxify your home by improving indoor air quality. They are also known to boost your mood & lift your spirit!

Beautiful spec home build that boasts an open floor plan design. The designer worked with blue color pallet as inspiration throughout this home project. The master bath in this home was designed to give a spa like escape to the lady of the home. A free standing tub was used in the master in place of a drop in tub. The family room has a beautiful stone fireplace with bookcases to give the room a beautiful room feeling. The fireplace wall was also given a unique look to draw the eye to that wall as a focal point in the room. A drop zone was added into the laundry area just inside the garage entrance which has both benches as well as cubbies for the homeowners to be able to drop items when returning from activities during their daily routines.

In the softest way imaginable, you may just need to catch your breath as you wait for what's to come. “Breathless” can be your escape to the past or to a far off escape. This very warm soft palette is also loaded with subtle undertones of color — from smoky blues and lavenders to hints of gold, light blue, beige and gray. Finished in gold on 1.375" gallery wrapped canvas, this painting is wired and ready to hang.

Check out this incredible backyard space. A complete outdoor kitchen and dining space made perfect for entertainment. This backyard is a private outdoor escape with three separate areas of living. Trees around enclose the yard and we custom selected a beautiful fountain centrepiece.

This is an escape room surrounded by trees and offering bright light. Soothing, relaxing and perfect for a get away or yoga. Has a wet bar for refreshments, murphy bed for guests, and an office area for work. Kept things clean and fresh and colourful to give this room it's whimsical feel. Played with the use of a classic ottoman to mix styles. Ottoman in other pictures of same space. Photography by Alexander McMullen.

Custom Home Built for Real Life
Our clients came to us with a clear vision: a home that could adapt to their lifestyle and growing family. They needed a home built with intention, designed with the future in mind, and built around the routines they loved and the people they loved more.
Open-Concept Living With Hosting in Mind
Our clients hosted often and lived actively, so the main level had to be flexible for all of life’s moments. The goal was a space that felt grand without losing its warmth.
Cooking together as a family mattered to our clients – the Wolf range, farmhouse sink, integrated appliances, and large island gave them a kitchen that flowed effortlessly while looking beautiful. This space also served as the bridge between other parts of the main level so that they would stay in view of the next. This created the perfect environment for gathering where everyone had their own spot without ever feeling apart from the whole group.
For the living room, our clients wanted space that felt open without losing its warmth. Soaring ceilings created that sense of scale, while warm tones and materials, like the wood coffered ceiling and fireplace wall, kept it grounded. That same warmth carried outside, where an outdoor lounge with a fireplace and dining area made sure guests felt welcomed the moment they stepped out.
A Backyard Built for Real Rest
Every corner of the backyard was designed with one goal: to be the ultimate outdoor retreat. The elevated, white-brick-framed pool and integrated spa hot tub gave them a place to truly exhale. As the sun set, the fire pit lounge next to the pool became the hangout spot when they hosted their youth groups and family gatherings.
Room to Grow
With kids in the house, “custom” had to also mean flexible. Our clients had 2 young sons and needed their rooms to grow with them through the years. The two bedrooms and a full bath sat beside a loft that served as both their hangout-and-homework spot. The guest suite sat on the same level where a four-poster bed, floor-to-ceiling wood-look tile, and a frameless glass shower welcomed their guests from day one.
A Retreat That’s Actually Theirs
Between hosting and raising kids, this couple needed a suite that felt like a true escape. The wood-planked tray ceiling and French doors grounded the room in warmth the moment you walked in, while the ensuite bathroom carried a spa-like feeling with a freestanding soaking tub, custom double vanity, and a glass-enclosed shower.
This Is What Approachable Luxury Looks Like
The approachable luxury experience meant starting with conversations about how they wanted their space to live with them – how they hosted, how their kids played, how they wanted to feel walking through their own front door, and how we took their goals and experience and used it as the foundation of every decision that was made from start to finish. We wanted our clients to feel taken care of through the process and, most importantly, feel heard.

Enter the realm of "Zen Tranquility," a bathroom renovation that embraces the serene beauty of nature. The focal point of this project is a captivating bamboo cabinet, bringing an aura of eco-friendly elegance and tranquility to the space. The double shower system promises an indulgent bathing experience, elevating relaxation to new heights. Surrounding the tub, pebble tiles create a harmonious natural escape, infusing the bathroom with a touch of spa-inspired luxury. Immerse yourself in the "Zen Tranquility" and discover a space that soothes the senses and rejuvenates the soul.
