On the top of the list of wishes for this design was a large veranda that would serve as the focus of the garden. Situated in the back and spanning the full width of the garden the veranda we wound up building definitely fit the bill. When you walk into the garden, but even from inside the house, it is the first thing you notice.
Beyond the veranda, the rest of the design is kept fairly simple. A grass field around the pre-existing Magnolia (what luck to have that!) and four box-lined beds with cottage flower cut in a classical pattern into the terrace of natural stone.

The Green Room Landscape ArchitectureThe charm and style of this historic Spanish colonial home in Paradise Valley radiates through the base of the Camelback Mountain. Old growth olive and specimen Ironwoods frame the home as grass areas provide a visual transition from garden to a sun-drenched desert adaptive plant palette. The garden spaces transform from season to season due to the fields of perennials and wildflowers. Unusual succulents and cacti sets the tone for this picturesque, evolving private botanical garden.

Studio TerrainNestled into the hillside of the Mt. Baker neighborhood of Seattle, the private backyard blends corten steel and natural stone to create a hideaway for the homeowner's enjoyment. Bamboo decking with a complimenting pergola and gate surrounds a custom, rustic outdoor kitchen. A rusted, gas fire feature centers the patio space surrounded by a basalt and brick seat wall and uplight decorative steel screens. The brick feature wall was repurposed to compliment the architecture. A flagstone path steps through a lush shade garden and walkable groundcover "lawn". This compact space is brimming with intricate details that bring it to life.
