The realtor who sold the property to the Dinstells mentioned that an Architect just bought the property next door (we were neighbors for our first house - found under Houzz Projects = Haley 3)
I was the Architect and helped coordinate with various sub-contractors. I also co-designed the project with various consultants including Interior and Landscape Design (+our house concurrently being built next door)
This project I had to put professional ethics above my personal needs for my new house concurrently built next door. I originally wanted a Modern House and the Dinstell's wanted a French Country but I knew that they would clash next to each other so I redesigned our house to be a Contemporary Craftsman style.

"From the very beginning, it was obvious that Kerry Taylor is a creative, calm, solution oriented person who deals with challenges extremely well. His professionalism, knowledge, and work ethic are exemplary and his crew mirrors every one of those qualities. From structural problems that required immediate resolution to working around other contractors (flooring, windows), to everyday cleanup and protection of our surroundings, they did it all. Kerry designed and built special structures to support the cabinet crown moldings that we had purchased and which turned out not to be as we expected. We hadn't decided on everything ahead of time and the necessary resulting change orders were very decently priced and well documented in his invoices and receipts. He came in absolutely on budget and on time because he knows how to efficiently manage a project so that the workflow is smooth. We will absolutely call on him for future projects."

Remodel and furnishings for a master bedroom including custom closets and vintage and ethic furnishings.
Example of a 1960s bedroom design in Los Angeles
Example of a 1960s bedroom design in Los Angeles

The remodeled kitchen features recycled glass tiling that immediately draws you into the space and the lightly colored, frameless bamboo cabinetry brightens the room. The main island was shaped and designed to draw you through the space and act as a preparation area for the green drinks and smoothies the homeowner makes on a daily basis and uses to show her clients how to maintain higher levels of nutrition. The flooring reflects the modern lighting and is made of cork which is ethically harvested. Every last detail is meticulously addressed including the curved knobs and recycled glass teal knobs. One of the drawers near the center island opens up and holds a composter underneath. There is also an urban cultivator that allows the owner to grow and cut fresh herbs and delight in the convenience of the location. The kitchen is perfected and the owner utilizes the kitchen with ease leading to an increase in overall functionality. The look delights every visitor, with a contemporary oasis the owner is completely in love with.
The owner is featured here using her juicer to make her famous wheatgrass green juices!

Designer Revi Mula worked with these wonderful clients, during a time when online meetings were the only way for them to get to know each other. Designing from the client's measurements until she could go and meet them face to face.
The result is a kitchen with both traditional and contemporary moments creates impact and style. A custom-made white shaker style kitchen, updated with modern bronze hardware and a marble counter to backsplash detail. Carefully designed to incorporate a black island, wine fridge and coffee niche to keep both the homeowners happy and make entertaining easy. The black stove echoes the black island, allowing for a slight nod to a French black and white design ethic, while contemporary fixtures, furnishings and artwork draw the kitchen into a more modern aesthetic.
Happy homeowners, happy designer.
