David Trubridge

David Trubridge grew up in England and trained as a naval architect. In 1981, he sold all his worldly possessions, bought a yacht and set sail around the world with his young family, eventually settling in Hawke’s Bay, New Zealand. Deeply inspired by the ocean and his natural surroundings, he founded David Trubridge Ltd in 1995 with the belief “that every day is a footprint in time for which we must be held accountable.” This dedication to sustainability is shown through designs inspired by the natural world that focus on longevity and functionality, constructed from the finest sustainable materials. The Seed System was created, sending his lighting designs to the world flat packed as kitsets for on-site assembly, decreasing packaging volume, freight costs and environmental impact. This approach to mindful design sets Trubridge apart, with contemporary lighting and furniture designed to withstand the test of time and ever-fleeting trends.
