Olamar InteriorsThis client came to us with a unique challenge: create a modern design that matches her fun and funky personality but to make it as "green" and chemical free as possible. We rose to the challenge, researching the best options for sustainable, green and chemical free furnishings. The upholstery pieces are made from sustainable and chemical free materials, the dining table is made of sustainable wood with a chemical free finish. The rugs are from a fair-trade company that supports education for women in India. The client had hired a Feng Shui expert to provide her with a report which we used to design the space. The wallpaper behind the living room sofa is custom designed and custom-made. It is a map made up of hundred of small photos that the homeowner provided to us. It represents the area in her home that will bring travel and connect her to the people she loves. The large, colorful art piece in the dining area is hung in the area of the home that will bring joy around family and children. The hearts and pink/red colored wallpaper in the den will evoke love and relationships.
The client has a colorful, fun personality and we wanted to infuse the design with it. A white backdrop allows all of the pinks, reds, navy blues and turquoises to pop, creating a lively, modern feeling. The textures in the floor and wall coverings and in the fabrics create a lived in, collected feeling and add a touch of bohemian chic style. The new modern cable and walnut stair banister is in keeping with the original modern feel of the row house and keeps the narrow staircase from feeling tight and closed in.
This was a fun, creative and unique project for us. This particular client was one of Olamar's first clients eight years ago when we first opened our doors. At that time the house was nothing but a condemned shell that the client renovated, with our assistance. At that time we designed the kitchen, which is still in excellent condition and still looks amazing!

Christie Kenny InteriorsWe transformed this 2001 kitchen from a dated space to a stunning transitional space that beautifully complements the home’s architecture and scenic golf course views. The original cabinetry, still in excellent condition, was thoughtfully refinished in a rich, cool-toned walnut stain. To add contrast and a touch of modern sophistication, we redesigned the island and serving station with updated materials and details.
A striking quartzite was hand-selected for its layered cool and warm tones, bringing depth and elegance to the space. By seamlessly carrying the stone from the countertop to the backsplash, we created a cohesive and timeless statement. Every design choice and layout enhancement was made to elevate the home’s luxurious feel while honoring its existing character.
Preservation StationA fabulous pair of antique single-arm Tudor sconces, salvaged out of a home in Indiana and dating from the 1920s. Each cast iron sconce features a hammered backplate with subtle traces of darkened nickel plating and is crowned with pierced foliate detail; a single arm extends from the bottom of the backplate to support a gadrooned wax pan with a spike finial. They would be perfect for Tudor, Spanish Revival, French Country or Old World spaces. These wall lamps are in excellent condition and have been professionally rewired; they come with all the necessary attachments for modern installation. Each sconce measures 12-1/4” tall, 4-1/2” wide, and project 5-5/8” from the wall.

Small additional deduction was taken to make them fit in the same space. Somfy motors and controls make raising and lowering multiple shades so much easier!

Preservation StationGorgeous antique five-light chandelier, dating from the early 1900's, and found in a home in Roanoke, VA. The Tudor chandelier begins with an oversized loop finial with leafy flourishes. Below, the underside of ring-style chandelier body is ornamented with foliates, roping and stylized fleur-de-lis; five leafy downward-facing bobeches suspend from its perimeter. The fixture finishes in a dangling foliate finial. Polychrome accents in red and black highlight the fixture throughout. This light fixture is in excellent condition; it has been professionally rewired and comes with all the necessary attachments for modern installation. The chandelier body measures 16" wide and 13-1/4" tall (without the bulbs,) and the fixture is 29" long overall.

New Energy Works TimberframersConnie and Bob were looking for more elbow room in their compact cottage home overlooking Canandaigua Lake. With the original cottage in excellent condition, the plan was to maintain much of the structure, from siding to the deck to the roof. The most logical path to a balanced, comfortable, increase in size was to craft timber frame additions on each side of the existing home. The larger, lake facing addition used traditional scissor trusses and includes additional loft space off the master bedroom with a unique, square lookout perch. Both additions were crafted from Easter White Pine with Western Red Cedar exterior components.

The chandelier begins with an understated canopy, coming down in a chain to an almond-shaped top finial accented with flowers and volutes. Five bobeches perch around the perimeter of the chandelier's bowl shaped body, the surface of which is ornamented with geometric foliate-inspired lines. This light fixture is in excellent condition; it has been professionally rewired and comes with all the necessary attachments for modern installation. The chandelier body measures 17” wide and 16” tall, and the fixture is 30-1/2” long overall. There is a coordinating fixture available under #NC1579-RW.

The Muir ShowroomsThe custom inset cabinetry was in excellent condition so it would have been wasteful to tear it all out and replace it simply for being the wrong color. Our designer assisted the homeowner in selecting just the right white - there are dozens! - for the cabinets and moldings to complement the new quartz countertops.

Preservation StationA striking antique four-light chandelier, dating from the 1920’s and found in a home in Montgomery, AL. The iron chandelier begins with an understated canopy with four hooks, chains descend from each hook to support the ring-style body below. The body's iron band is beautifully cast with guilloche and foliate detail; four substantial arms affix to the band and extend to support two-part bobeches. This light fixture is in excellent condition; it has been professionally rewired and comes with all the necessary attachments for modern installation. The chandelier body measures 20-3/8” wide, and the fixture is 18-5/8” long overall.
