Olamar InteriorsThis client came to us with a unique challenge: create a modern design that matches her fun and funky personality but to make it as "green" and chemical free as possible. We rose to the challenge, researching the best options for sustainable, green and chemical free furnishings. The rugs are from a fair-trade company that supports education for women in India. The client had hired a Feng Shui expert to provide her with a report which we used to design the space. The wallpaper behind the living room sofa is custom designed and custom-made. It is a map made up of hundred of small photos that the homeowner provided to us. It represents the area in her home that will bring travel and connect her to the people she loves. The large, colorful art piece in the dining area is hung in the area of the home that will bring joy around family and children. The hearts and pink/red colored wallpaper in the den will evoke love and relationships.
The client has a colorful, fun personality and we wanted to infuse the design with it. A white backdrop allows all of the pinks, reds, navy blues and turquoises to pop, creating a lively, modern feeling. The textures in the floor and wall coverings and in the fabrics create a lived in, collected feeling and add a touch of bohemian chic style. The new modern cable and walnut stair banister is in keeping with the original modern feel of the row house and keeps the narrow staircase from feeling tight and closed in.
This was a fun, creative and unique project for us. This particular client was one of Olamar's first clients eight years ago when we first opened our doors. At that time the house was nothing but a condemned shell that the client renovated, with our assistance. At that time we designed the kitchen, which is still in excellent condition and still looks amazing!

Christie Kenny InteriorsWe transformed this 2001 kitchen from a dated space to a stunning transitional space that beautifully complements the home’s architecture and scenic golf course views. The original cabinetry, still in excellent condition, was thoughtfully refinished in a rich, cool-toned walnut stain. To add contrast and a touch of modern sophistication, we redesigned the island and serving station with updated materials and details.
A striking quartzite was hand-selected for its layered cool and warm tones, bringing depth and elegance to the space. By seamlessly carrying the stone from the countertop to the backsplash, we created a cohesive and timeless statement. Every design choice and layout enhancement was made to elevate the home’s luxurious feel while honoring its existing character.
Preservation StationA stellar antique five-light Art Deco cast iron chandelier, dating from the 1930’s, and made and signed by Lincoln. The chandelier begins with a polychrome accented canopy, coming down in a chain to an angular loop finial. Below, beautiful white glass panels surround the fixture's central rod and sit within a stepped bowl at the bottom of the chandelier. Five angular arms extend from the bowl and connect to form the open body; the body features skyscraper and streamlined details with red highlights. Each arm ends in a triangular framework; three pointed glass panels perch within the framework and surround each light. The bottom of the fixture is ornamented with stylized flowers and volutes, the complimentary finial suspends from its center. This light fixture is in excellent condition; it has been professionally rewired and comes with all the necessary attachments for modern installation. The glass is also in excellent condition with no cracks or breaks. The chandelier body measures 18-1/4” wide and 24” tall, and the fixture is 39" long overall.

Preservation StationA wonderful antique Art Deco slip shade chandelier, dating from the 1930’s, and found in a home in Chicago, IL. This five-light chandelier begins with a canopy ornamented with flowers, volutes and stylized foliate details; coming down in a chain to an oversized finial composed of abstract curling volutes, a motif repeated in its dangling bottom finial. The chandelier's pale amber slipper shades feature raised abstract foliate details and curling lines, complementing the abstracted floral design on the body nicely. This light fixture is in excellent condition; it has been professionally rewired and comes with all the necessary attachments for modern installation. The glass shades are also in very good condition with some fleabites around the edges of the shades. This chandelier is 18-3/4” wide, 19-1/4” tall and 35” long overall.

Preservation StationA fantastic antique Art Deco skyscraper pendant light, dating from the 1930’s, with an unusual two-piece shade. The chandelier features a stunning white glass skyscraper shade, with a clear prismatic shade below. This light fixture is in excellent condition, and the glass is also in excellent condition with no cracks or breaks, just the expected fleabites around the rims. The chandelier has been professionally rewired and comes with all the necessary attachments for modern installation. The pendant measures 9-1/2” wide and 17” tall (body only), and 36-1/4” long overall.

Preservation StationAn incredible pair of antique Art Deco slip shade sconces, circa 1930, and found in a home in Roanoke, VA. Each sconce features a shield-shaped backplate framed with a border of foliate detailing; the backplate is ornamented with an arrow motif with a broadhead crowning the plate and fletching finishing it at the bottom. A frosted slipper shade fits within the backplate, and features understated, linear detailing. These wall lamps are in excellent condition; the shades are in very good antique condition with some fleabites around the edges of the shades and one small chip (as pictured.) The sconces have been professionally rewired and come with all the necessary attachments for modern installation. We kept the original nonfunctioning turn switches for nostalgia’s sake; however, we will gladly replace them with new ones if desired. The sconces measure 12-1/4” tall, 4-3/4" wide, and project 4-1/8” from the wall.

Design Connection, Inc.The kitchen is the most used room in the home. Our clients came to us asking for help with their outdated kitchen. The home was built in 2003 and had seen many years of use with two growing children, family and friends.
The original cabinets were of good quality and were still in excellent condition. We faux painted the old light maple cabinets with a beautiful dark Java stain.

cared for it since overseeing its construction nearly 50 years ago.
While the home was in excellent condition, it needed updates to better suit the new owners'
lifestyle and growing family. The renovation involved moving a few walls and rearranging key
rooms to optimize the layout for an open, functional flow. A spacious island with seating was
added to enhance the kitchen's usability, along with well-thought-out cabinetry.
The final design reflects the homeowners' contemporary style while preserving the home's
original charm.
Preservation StationThis is a splendid antique Art Deco five-light chandelier, dating from the 1920’s, and made and signed by the Riddle Company. The fixture begins with a beautifully cast canopy, coming down in a chain to meet a volute-bordered bowl; the bowl crowns the upper body which features a gorgeous and unusual design reminiscent of a fountain. The fountain perches above the fixture's streamlined lower body, it's underside ornamented with a radial design featuring volute and chevron detailing. Five arms extend from the fixture to support ribbed downward-facing bobeches. This light fixture is in excellent condition; it has been professionally rewired and comes with all the necessary attachments for modern installation. The chandelier measures 19” wide, 18-1/4” tall (body only), and 34-1/4" long overall.
