Olamar InteriorsThis client came to us with a unique challenge: create a modern design that matches her fun and funky personality but to make it as "green" and chemical free as possible. We rose to the challenge, researching the best options for sustainable, green and chemical free furnishings. The upholstery pieces are made from sustainable and chemical free materials, the dining table is made of sustainable wood with a chemical free finish. The rugs are from a fair-trade company that supports education for women in India. The client had hired a Feng Shui expert to provide her with a report which we used to design the space. The wallpaper behind the living room sofa is custom designed and custom-made. It is a map made up of hundred of small photos that the homeowner provided to us. It represents the area in her home that will bring travel and connect her to the people she loves. The large, colorful art piece in the dining area is hung in the area of the home that will bring joy around family and children. The hearts and pink/red colored wallpaper in the den will evoke love and relationships.
The client has a colorful, fun personality and we wanted to infuse the design with it. A white backdrop allows all of the pinks, reds, navy blues and turquoises to pop, creating a lively, modern feeling. The textures in the floor and wall coverings and in the fabrics create a lived in, collected feeling and add a touch of bohemian chic style. The new modern cable and walnut stair banister is in keeping with the original modern feel of the row house and keeps the narrow staircase from feeling tight and closed in.
This was a fun, creative and unique project for us. This particular client was one of Olamar's first clients eight years ago when we first opened our doors. At that time the house was nothing but a condemned shell that the client renovated, with our assistance. At that time we designed the kitchen, which is still in excellent condition and still looks amazing!

Preservation StationStunning antique Art Deco slip shade chandelier with its original glass shades, dating from the 1930’s. This five light chandelier has a fabulous two-tone gold and silver finish, and features streamlined and ziggurat details throughout. The frosted slipper shades have ribbed details and scalloped borders. This light fixture is in excellent condition with no cracks or breaks to the glass, just the expected fleabites around the rims. The chandelier has been professionally rewired and comes with all the necessary attachments for modern installation. This chandelier is 16-1/2” wide, approx. 14-1/4” tall (body only), and 31-1/2” long overall.

Christie Kenny InteriorsWe transformed this 2001 kitchen from a dated space to a stunning transitional space that beautifully complements the home’s architecture and scenic golf course views. The original cabinetry, still in excellent condition, was thoughtfully refinished in a rich, cool-toned walnut stain. To add contrast and a touch of modern sophistication, we redesigned the island and serving station with updated materials and details.
A striking quartzite was hand-selected for its layered cool and warm tones, bringing depth and elegance to the space. By seamlessly carrying the stone from the countertop to the backsplash, we created a cohesive and timeless statement. Preservation StationMarvelous antique Art Deco five-light slip shade chandelier dating from the early 1900's. The fixture begins with a two-tone streamlined canopy, coming down in a chain to a body composed of sleek, intersecting arches with foliate flourishes. The fixture features streamlined details with stylized foliate accents; the nicely aged two-tone finish highlights the fixture throughout. The chandelier's five slip shades feature scalloped edges and beautiful linear details; a single light rests within each shade. The body finishes in a stepped ziggurat bowl with a bellflower finial. This light fixture is in excellent condition with no cracks or breaks to the glass, just the expected fleabites around the rims. The chandelier has been professionally rewired and comes with all the necessary attachments for modern installation. This chandelier is approximately 17-1/2” wide, 15-1/2" tall and 28" long overall.

Preservation StationA stellar antique five-light Art Deco cast iron chandelier, dating from the 1930’s, and made and signed by Lincoln. The chandelier begins with a polychrome accented canopy, coming down in a chain to an angular loop finial. Below, beautiful white glass panels surround the fixture's central rod and sit within a stepped bowl at the bottom of the chandelier. Five angular arms extend from the bowl and connect to form the open body; the body features skyscraper and streamlined details with red highlights. Each arm ends in a triangular framework; three pointed glass panels perch within the framework and surround each light. The bottom of the fixture is ornamented with stylized flowers and volutes, the complimentary finial suspends from its center. This light fixture is in excellent condition; it has been professionally rewired and comes with all the necessary attachments for modern installation. The glass is also in excellent condition with no cracks or breaks. The chandelier body measures 18-1/4” wide and 24” tall, and the fixture is 39" long overall.

Preservation StationA wonderful antique Art Deco slip shade chandelier, dating from the 1930’s, and found in a home in Chicago, IL. This five-light chandelier begins with a canopy ornamented with flowers, volutes and stylized foliate details; coming down in a chain to an oversized finial composed of abstract curling volutes, a motif repeated in its dangling bottom finial. The chandelier's pale amber slipper shades feature raised abstract foliate details and curling lines, complementing the abstracted floral design on the body nicely. This light fixture is in excellent condition; it has been professionally rewired and comes with all the necessary attachments for modern installation. The glass shades are also in very good condition with some fleabites around the edges of the shades. This chandelier is 18-3/4” wide, 19-1/4” tall and 35” long overall.

Larry CravenThe client wanted to update their existing roller shades that were in excellent condition. The window frames are not wired for motorization, so we converted them to battery operated. Small additional deduction was taken to make them fit in the same space. Somfy motors and controls make raising and lowering multiple shades so much easier!

Preservation StationFantastic antique Art Deco flush mount fixture dating from the 1930's. The light fixture has an understated fitter with small chains supporting the stunning Art Deco shade below. The original shade features a tapered body with a unique starburst design and stepped, ziggurat edges . This flush mount is in excellent condition with no cracks or breaks to the glass, just the expected fleabites around the rims. It has been professionally rewired and comes with all the necessary attachments for modern installation. The fixture measures 8-3/4" wide by 7-1/4" tall overall.

Gregory Greenwood ConstructionSpanish/Mediterranean Cheviot Hills Remodel Living Room. Amazing embellished coffered ceiling was found in the living room during remodeling! This was a great story. We all thought “what a beautiful ceiling” when they bought the house. With much trepidation, we decided to make holes in the ceiling to install new can lights centered in a few of the panels. The worker cut the first round hole and looked up and saw a lot of detail. They decided to remove the entire panel only to discover beautiful plaster work and moulding up inside. They removed a couple other panels in other parts of the room to see if it was consistent throughout. It was. So the client gave the go-ahead to take out all the panels and restore the existing ornate plaster coffered ceiling. Most of it was in excellent condition, so although it was a lot of work because of the intricacy, little repair was required. Then it all got a fresh paint job and came out like new. This ceiling really is the jewel of the house.
Preservation StationAn incredible pair of antique Art Deco slip shade sconces, circa 1930, and found in a home in Roanoke, VA. Each sconce features a shield-shaped backplate framed with a border of foliate detailing; the backplate is ornamented with an arrow motif with a broadhead crowning the plate and fletching finishing it at the bottom. A frosted slipper shade fits within the backplate, and features understated, linear detailing. These wall lamps are in excellent condition; the shades are in very good antique condition with some fleabites around the edges of the shades and one small chip (as pictured.) The sconces have been professionally rewired and come with all the necessary attachments for modern installation. We kept the original nonfunctioning turn switches for nostalgia’s sake; however, we will gladly replace them with new ones if desired. The sconces measure 12-1/4” tall, 4-3/4" wide, and project 4-1/8” from the wall.
