Aaron Mauk not only designed but supplied and installed all the cabinetry in this new home which definitely utilizes an "open" design concept throughout. Unique lighting elements are found in every room which keeps every space fun and exciting. The kitchen uses grey tones to create a cool, clean environment that showcases the breathtaking ceilings. Most of the cabinetry in the house is shown in Marsh’s “Graphite” stain on maple wood, which is a beautiful way of tying the whole home together. This home is not only beautiful, but it is functional as well. The pull down closet rods found in the laundry room extend over the washer and dryer so it can be used when needed, but easily stored out of the way when not in use. We transformed a Georgian brick two-story built in 1998 into an elegant, yet comfortable home for an active family that includes children and dogs. Although this Dallas home’s traditional bones were intact, the interior dark stained molding, paint, and distressed cabinetry, along with dated bathrooms and kitchen were in desperate need of an overhaul. We honored the client’s European background by using time-tested marble mosaics, slabs and countertops, and vintage style plumbing fixtures throughout the kitchen and bathrooms. We balanced these traditional elements with metallic and unique patterned wallpapers, transitional light fixtures and clean-lined furniture frames to give the home excitement while maintaining a graceful and inviting presence. We used nickel lighting and plumbing finishes throughout the home to give regal punctuation to each room. The intentional, detailed styling in this home is evident in that each room boasts its own character while remaining cohesive overall.

Arch top windows flank the fireplace and beautifully highlight the garden beyond. This eco-friendly renovation of a 1780’s farmhouse kitchen was an exciting challenge. Every aspect of the design was focused on minimizing our carbon footprint and maximizing efficiency.

The kitchen also features waterfall edge quartz counters, a walk-in pantry, Wolf professional appliances and the clients must have high-end wine fridge. The kitchen seamlessly flows through to the dining room and open concept living room featuring a concrete fireplace with a white oak beam to keep them warm and cozy through the winter season. The staircase includes thoughtful recessed step lights with the black metal railing pairing perfectly with the layered linens and whites of the home. The master bath features soft gloss Zellige Artisanal tile with a natural edge giving that hand-made feel. The backlit shower niche has a miter edge tile. Vanity wall sconces added the finishing touch on this space.

A happy east coast family gets their perfect second home on the west coast. This family of 6 was a true joy to work with from start to finish. They were very excited to have a home reflecting the true west coast sensibility: ocean tones mixed with neutrals, modern art and playful elements, and of course durability and comfort for all the kids and guests. The pool area and kitchen got total overhauls (thanks to Jeff with Black Cat Construction) and we added a fun wine closet below the staircase. They trusted the vision of the design and made few requests for changes. And the end result was even better than they expected.

Wrapped in Sen veneer every box remained in place as the elements evolved into a newly imagined kitchen. Contrasting the organic nature of the wood gain is the dimensionally exciting glass tile backsplash. The black and silver glass bridge and blend the smooth steel items and stainless appliances with the adjacent natural materials. The dolomite countertops are unique and balance the weight of the floor and steel. Crystal pendants dance above the re-installed and beloved wood bar top. Custom upholstered A.Rudin swivel stools complete the room.

Careful edits and updates were needed in our client's guest bedroom. Their current metal sleigh bed was far too bulky and heavy visually in addition to taking up too much precious space in this tiny bedroom. The room felt cluttered with far too much furniture, cold and downright unwelcoming. For balance, the bed was relocated to the opposite wall. A bold Nikki Chu wallcovering with a playful abstract design was then added to create a focal point and interest. To free up space and to add balance to this room, a 'headboard only' design (minus the footboard) was selected. The headboard's teak and jute elements paired well with this new backdrop to add great texture and interest to the room. Less furniture, visually exciting feature wall and crisp draperies in a free form pattern helped to complete the look.
