Traditional Kitchen Renovation & Design Of A First Floor Ranch.
See what our client say about this project:
It went as smooth as it possibly could go. The only bumps in the road was with what we found during demolition, you never know what your gonna run into when all the walls, floors and fixtures come out. Paul had explained to us that depending on what we found under all the out dated stuff it might take a little longer. Paul was there doing the work with his workers he showed up on time and finished on schedule. It was no problem being in touch with Paul because he answered his phone or got back to us in a timely fashion. He has an excellent sense of design he knows what goes well together and makes the house flow with comfort and usability.

Featured in Dwell, Hacienda Granada is an eclectic modern residence designed by Working Holiday Studio that subtly combines the Spanish influences of a Mexican hacienda with Scandinavian minimalism and features All Weather Architectual Aluminun custom windows and doors.
Carlos Nuade and Whitney Brown run Working Holiday, a multi disciplinary creative studio based in Los Angeles that boasts a portfolio of several renovation projects across Southern California.
Originally built in 1962, the 2,762-square-foot residence with 4 bedrooms and 2.5 baths was not the couple’s dream home but they saw potential in its vaulted ceilings, ample-sized kitchen, backyard pool and large garage and more importantly, they found a space where they could infuse with their own personal history and distinct taste. "Our style is very modern and minimalist," Carlos explains. "But we still wanted to include some of the warmth, accents, and tones from traditional Spanish architecture."
Carlos and Whitney chose All Weather Series 5000 casement and fixed windows with SDL's to infuse the home with the Hacienda vibe. They replaced the existing patio entry door with expansive Series 8100 Multi Slide Doors that connect to the living and dining room. The couple opened up the kitchen by adding an All Weather Series 7000 French Doors and repositioned the island so you can see into the house when they are cooking. They also reshaped most of the interior doorways, creating arches to enhance the Spanish-Mexican vibe.
All Weather was honored to be selected for Hacienda Granada because Carlos and Whitney treat their projects like showrooms and they only bring on brands they like and curate the space accordingly.

Kon-Strux explained that their clients wanted a total refresh on what was a dated, unevenly lit, and cluttered kitchen space. They noted that the family loves New York and the robust feeling of infrastructural history in older American cities, and therefore wanted to bring this into their home design. Kon-Strux noted that they started with an incredible large structural steel beam which grounds the main floor and acts as an upper gateway to the kitchen. They paired Edison bulbs with inset LED lighting to create layers of light in various temperatures.
Everything about this kitchen is now "WOW".

Marino General Contracting explained that the goal of this renovation was to bring the original elements of the 10,000 square foot Vancouver home and 4.25 acre lot to a level of fit and finish in keeping with the contemporary, high end renovations.
The exterior underwent a massive transformation: the lower property, a marshland filled with brambles and coyote paths were transformed into a golf course and patio.
They noted that as the scope increased dramatically, it was important to manage client expectations regarding budget and timelines. As well, with no architect, the design team relied heavily on each other.
