Inspired by the sugar plantation estates on the island of Barbados, “Orchid Beach” radiates a barefoot elegance. The kitchen is an effortless extension of this style. A natural light filled kitchen extends into the expansive family room, dining room, and foyer all with high coffered ceilings for a grand entertainment space. The front kitchen features a gorgeous custom Downsview wood and stainless-steel hood, quartz countertops and backsplash, spacious curved farmhouse sink, custom walnut cabinetry, 4-person island topped with statement glass pendants. The kitchen expands into an elegant breakfast dinette adorned with a glass chandelier and floor to ceiling windows with view of bayou and terraced pool area. The intricately detailed dome ceiling and surrounding trims compliments the ornate window trims. Behind the main kitchen lies a discrete butler’s kitchen, concealing a coffee bar with antique mirror backsplash, appliance garage, wet bar, pantry storage, multiple ovens, and a sitting area to enjoy a cup of coffee keeping many of the meal prep innerworkings tastefully concealed.

The guest bathroom has porcelain wall tile with a feature detail that is a marble chevron mosaic, which accentuates the shower window we had to work around. The custom cabinetry design and 2.5" mitered edge quartz counter tops make this bathroom something special.

Inspiration for a timeless eat-in kitchen remodel in Toronto with an undermount sink, beaded inset cabinets, beige cabinets, white backsplash, stainless steel appliances and an island

A riverfront property is a desirable piece of property duet to its proximity to a waterway and parklike setting. The value in this renovation to the customer was creating a home that allowed for maximum appreciation of the outside environment and integrating the outside with the inside, and this design achieved this goal completely. To eliminate the fishbowl effect and sight-lines from the street the kitchen was strategically designed with a higher counter top space, wall areas were added and sinks and appliances were intentional placement. Open shelving in the kitchen and wine display area in the dining room was incorporated to display customer's pottery. Seating on two sides of the island maximize river views and conversation potential. Overall kitchen/dining/great room layout designed for parties, etc. - lots of gathering spots for people to hang out without cluttering the work triangle. Eliminating walls in the ensuite provided a larger footprint for the area allowing for the freestanding tub and larger walk-in closet. Hardwoods, wood cabinets and the light grey colour pallet were carried through the entire home to integrate the space.

Situated just blocks from the city’s downtown and famed beaches, the Chelston model home blends West Indies and Old Florida-inspired architecture and design. Transom windows attract generous amounts of natural light to accompany the fully furnished Chelston’s island-inspired colors from the award-winning Romanza Interior Design. The three-bedroom, three-and-a-half bath home offers a study, formal dining room, and first-floor master suite with two walk-in closets and French doors that open to the linear pool’s raised spa. Trellises, a freestanding fountain and a secluded fire pit add to the outdoor living ambiance and complement the linear design of the custom pool, which is finished with mood-hued brick mosaic glass tile. Inspiration for a contemporary living room remodel in Orange County

A modern screen porch beautifully links this Wellesley home to its Garden. Extending overhangs that are clad in red cedar emphasize the indoor – outdoor connection and keep direct sun out of the interior. The grey granite floor pavers extend seamlessly from the inside to the outside. A custom designed steel truss with stainless steel cable supports the roof. Laminate cabinet fronts and Corian were the rage when this Overland Park home was built. With an out dated kitchen this beautiful California styled home required a gut and redo in the main kitchen area. The decision making process was extensive, but the client felt like she achieved a beautiful new kitchen with the guidance and hard work of Arlene Ladegaard and the Design Connection, Inc. team. From the beautiful white inset cabinet doors to the seamless look of the built in refrigerator to the antique brass faucets and pulls this kitchen is complete. Arlene and her team worked hard from the designing phase to the project management to the completion of new kitchen remodel. The newly remodeled white kitchen is on trend in the world of design. Photography by Jim Tetro This house, built in the 1960s, sits southfacing on a terrific wooded lot in Bethesda, Maryland. The owners desire a whole-house renovation which would improve the general building fabric and systems, and extend the sense of living out of doors in all seasons. The original sixties-modern character is preserved and the renovation extends the design forward into a contemporary, modern approach. Connections to and through the site are enhanced through the creation of new larger window and door openings. Screened porches and decks perch above the sloped and wooded site. The new kitchen and bathrooms allow for opportunities to feel out-of -doors while preparing, cooking, dining, and bathing. Smart passive strategies guide the environmental choices for this project, including envelope improvements, updated mechanical systems, and on-site stormwater management.
