Handknotted wool rug with an ivory leather ottoman made custom for this room. Colorful pillows and accessories. Beautiful Spanish Villa nestled in the hot and dry hills of Southern California. This beautiful sprawling mediterranean home has deep colored fabrics and rugs, a Moroccan pool house, and a burgandy, almost purple library. The deep red and rust colored fabrics reflect and enhance the antique wall hangings. The fine furniture is all hand bench made, all custom and hand scraped to look old and worn. Bevel-cut, square leg turnings compliment the simple bead of the cabinet door. A Sub-Zero refrigerator is disguised by rich cocoa bean stained cabinets with leaded mirror panels. Sub-Zero freezer drawers, also hidden by panels, are located conveniently next to the refrigerator. A pull-out pantry above the freezer drawers completes a quick-access zone for the chef owner.

We took on the kitchen, two bathrooms and a powder room. The layout in the kitchen was functional for them, so we kept that pretty much as is. Our client wanted a contemporary-leaning transitional look — nice clean lines with a gray and white palette. Light gray cabinets with a slightly darker gray subway tile keep the northern exposure light and airy. They also purchased some new furniture for their breakfast room and adjoining family room, so the whole space looks completely styled and new. The light fixtures are staggered and give a nice rhythm to the otherwise serene feel. The homeowners were not 100% sold on the flooring choice for little powder room off the kitchen when I first showed it, but now they think it is one of the most interesting features of the design. I always try to “push” my clients a little bit because that’s when things can get really fun and this is what you are paying for after all, ideas that you may not come up with on your own. We also worked on the two upstairs bathrooms. We started first on the hall bath which was basically just in need of a face lift. The floor is porcelain tile made to look like carrera marble. The vanity is white Shaker doors fitted with a white quartz top. We re-glazed the cast iron tub. The master bath was a tub to shower conversion. We used a wood look porcelain plank on the main floor along with a Kohler Tailored vanity. The custom shower has a barn door shower door, and vinyl wallpaper in the sink area gives a rich textured look to the space. Overall, it’s a pretty sophisticated look for its smaller fooprint. The Laurel was a project that required a rigorous lesson in southern architectural vernacular. The site being located in the hot climate of the Carolina shoreline, the client was eager to capture cross breezes and utilize outdoor entertainment spaces. The home was designed with three covered porches, one partially covered courtyard, and one screened porch, all accessed by way of French doors and extra tall double-hung windows. The open main level floor plan centers on common livings spaces, while still leaving room for a luxurious master suite. The upstairs loft includes two individual bed and bath suites, providing ample room for guests. Native materials were used in construction, including a metal roof and local timber.

A stunning Kitchen remodel that totally transformed this home. Completely changing the previous layout with builder grade cherry cabinets, a typical peninsula island extending from the left perimeter wall, paired with the non functional, small footprint, this Kitchen needed a complete gut. Our team had an immediate vision. One that would involve a new layout including different appliance locations and extending full width of the perimeter walls left to right to maximize the space. We included a prep area, small hidden appliance garage for storage and the extra large island allowing for enough seating to eliminate a traditional table and chairs. The full counter to ceiling tile backsplash adds the perfect detail to the warm wood floating shelves that enhances the tall ceiling height along with a custom, floor to ceiling wine refrigerator with custom iron and glass door in the center to the space creating a new focal point with the waterfall edge island. The refreshing light and bright palette, luxurious finishes while leaning in to the contrast and warm modern feel.

With complimenting colors, this entertainment space is just as enjoyable to look at as it is to be in. The dark tones warm up the space and can be seen throughout in accent pieces and the large wooden media stand that the TV has been mounted on. In the Busse Master bathroom, we tore down a wall to increase space. Originally doors separated the vanity from the commode and shower. We installed a closet with frosted glass doors and accent lighting inside. A sliding white barn door with wrought iron trim was installed at the entrance. The vanity is 72" with a double bowl, is custom-made and espresso-stained with 4-stacked drawers and granite counter top. The vanity has a backsplash with 2 rectangular under mount bowls. Two Delta 8" spread Ashlyn faucet in a brushed nickel finish are mounted on the countertop. Two wood-framed mirrors and full-length linen tower match the vanity with 2 sets of 3 vanity lights. The shower is 12' x12' with faux marble, in an offset pattern, floor to ceiling tile with 4" feature strip with extra-wide recessed niche. Delta shower faucet with the Intuition handheld/shower head combine in a brushed nickel finish. Heavy frameless hinged shower door with panels. The floor is 2" x 2" tile to match the bathroom floor which is a 13" x13" straight pattern, porcelain tile with matching tile baseboard.
