Van Auken Akins Architects LLC designed and facilitated the renovation of a 1,876 square-foot suburban condo. VAA developed a palette of clean detailing, which allowed for the integration of the client's blue chip art collection. Rich materials, such as Carrera marble, liquid crystal privacy glass, Venetian plaster, and stained cherry serve as beautiful backdrops to define each space. A new bluestone patio extends the interior theme into the existing condominium landscape.

The goal of this landscape design and build project was to create a roof deck patio and green roof. The patio features square concrete unit pavers, sedum ground cover, and planters with small trees. Modern patio furniture was chosen to facilitate large and small gatherings alike overlooking the Boston skyline. Designed and built by Skyline Landscapes, LLC.

Dual vanities with beaded inset vogue doors help to keep this junior custom bathroom organized. Full extension pull out drawers on both vanities make it simple for children to keep the surfaces of these bathroom cabinets nice and tidy. A taller linen bathroom cabinet is great for storing towels and keeping other everyday toiletries within reach. These custom white bathroom storage cabinets take advantage of the natural light from the adjacent window, giving this space a light and airy feel, facilitating a calm and relaxed demeanor to start and finish the day. It is definitely a room that kids will not mind sharing.

Griffith Property Development Remodel of an existing garage/shop space into additional living area - including new entry from carport area, hallway with laundry and pantry closets, bathroom, bedroom with large closet, new heating system, new flooring, plumbing, and lighting - to facilitate single-floor ease of living into elder years. An enclosed and heated garage was also part of the redesign. Materials were repurposed wherever possible, local independent contractors and businesses supported, and thanks to great teamwork, it all came in under budget and on-time.

The bathroom features a “zero entry” shower, eliminating the need to step over a curb and facilitating easy entry in a wheelchair. Additional features include a floating bench and a hand-held shower for comfortable bathing, supporting aging in place. The shower walls are made of solid white fabricated marble panels with a tile-pattern finish, ensuring easy maintenance while providing a luxurious aesthetic.

The team was challenged by the Arlo Hotel Wynwood to maximize the luxurious feel of its resort cabanas. To achieve this, each pool cabana was designed with a custom Azenco R-Shade fixed roof pergola. Azenco designers engineered a new style of privacy wall that opens and closes manually with added flexibility to the fixed-roof design. This innovation facilitates the tropical breeze when open and provides privacy when closed. These cabanas are perfect for architects and contractors seeking a professional yet luxurious atmosphere.

The Betty at Inglenook’s Pocket Neighborhoods is an open two-bedroom Cottage-style Home that facilitates everyday living on a single level. High ceilings in the kitchen, family room and dining nook make this a bright and enjoyable space for your morning coffee, cooking a gourmet dinner, or entertaining guests. The interior of the screened porch is the perfect spot for entertaining or private relaxation for these Hoover, AL, homeowners. With spruce pine v-joint ceiling, we were able to cleanly install electrical wiring for ceiling fans, recessed lighting, the TV, and outlets. The high gable roof will ensure lots of light and air enters the porch, all the while being protected from the hottest sun under roof, unlike an open-air deck or uncovered patio. Ceiling fans will further facilitate air circulation throughout the space!

When my parents purchased a home in Arizona, the hall powder room became an insufficient use of space for the many out of town visitors frequenting the house. Our goal was to turn the half bath, which was adjacent to a guest bedroom, into a 3/4 bath, by removing a privacy wall, repositioning the toilet and sink, and adding a corner shower to accommodate guests. We incorporated the Santa Fe style and colors into the decor by installing slate floors, a slate stack stone shower surround, and a travertine countertop with a glass sin

As part of this comprehensive renovation, the entire floor plan underwent a remarkable transformation. The kitchen, living room, and dining area were seamlessly integrated into an open layout, enhancing the sense of spaciousness and facilitating effortless entertaining.

This contemporary custom home forms itself based on specific view vectors to Long's Peak and the mountains of the front range combined with the influence of a morning and evening court to facilitate exterior living. Roof forms undulate to allow clerestory light into the space, while providing intimate scale for the exterior areas. A long stone wall provides a reference datum that links public and private and inside and outside into a cohesive whole.

Our designer moved the dishwasher to the left side of the sink to facilitate better storage between the sink and the range - had she left it in its original location to the right of the sink, there would have only been room for a tiny cabinet between the dishwasher and the range.
