Inspiration for a porch remodel in Miami

The Great Room This was originally a large screening room that the client wanted to re-purpose for entertainment. The structure was an addition to the house forming a separate wing with multiple points of entry to the outdoors. The desire was to vault the hip-roof stricture to the apex and create a light airy feeling with high ceilings, exposed timbers, and a focal point of an antique fireplace. Structural considerations required sizeable steel truss beams to hold the ceiling structure together at the ridge. The trick was to get them in without significant disruption to the existing roof structure. The exposed “timbers” were applied as false beams pressed from foam so as to remain lightweight. The fireplace surround came from an old French farmhouse and was modified to be attached to a hidden steel structure in the wall. The overall effect with lighting and furnishings is a grand space suitable for entertaining and outflow to the gardens and terraces surrounding the structure.

For a specific look and feel, the client wanted 1" thick doors for their custom inset design. This will also help withstand the Long Island humidity, and summer home lifestyle. ⁣ Most kitchen designers will agree. We HATE wasted space. ⁣ ⁣ When the homeowners came to us wanting 6" (albeit) beautiful box columns on the sides of their island, we suggested turning them into functioning cabinets at each end, giving them additional storage they didn't think of. The same was true for over the #subzero refrigerator. Why just have a false panel, when you can make it a hatch cabinet for long thin storage? When you're designing in custom cabinetry, the world is your oyster. And we plan to design you a pearl ?

The vanity area is separated from the shower/water closet room by a pocket door. The vessel sinks provide an opportunity to customized and maximize the storage behind each drawer front (no false fronts here). The lighted mirrors provide comprehensive illumination for grooming. The shower, with dual shower heads and shampoo niches provides plenty of room for dual bathing during hectic morning preparations. An electrical outlet by the toilet allows for plug and play installation in the event the homeowners choose to install a bidet toilet seat. Beautiful fiber wall paper, heated floors, heated towel bar and tubular skylights round out the luxurious feel of this master bathroom.

This kitchen designed for the Junior League of Buffalo 2017 Decorator Showhouse was a full gut of the space. There were plumbing and HVAC pipes in the space that required custom modifications to cabinetry. Part of the hearth has a false back on the cabinet to accommodate some of the pipes. Additionally, the 10’ ceilings required a custom combination of cabinets and crown molding to reach the ceiling. The space contained 4 doorways so the use of angled cabinetry allowed for easier access in and out of the space. The room includes special design features such as the wood hearth to house the ventilation for over the range, custom under cabinet lighting and a wet bar housing a beverage center and an appliance for growing microgreens.

This project is more than meets the eye! In a gorgeous neighborhood in Del Mar, San Diego, California, This unique small custom wine cellar truly acts as a showstopper. Originally within this house, the door which now faces outward used to be around the corner in a small hallway, virtually eliminating any visibility into this contemporary walk in custom wine cellar. Upon seeing the location of this space within the house, Gene Walder and the knowledgeable team at Vintage Cellars knew that to really take advantage of the room provided, (which is actually below the stairs), they needed to get rid of the original door and add a brand new one facing the main living space. Just a small feat in a series of unique custom features within this cellar! Here at Vintage Cellars, before any design takes shape, it is vital to understand what the clients wants and needs are based on their growing collection of wine. With a good idea of bottle sizes, shapes (some pinot noir bottles, for example have a wider bottom than a typical cabernet sauvignon bottle) and unique features desired, the team of wine cellar designers and wine cellar builders at Vintage Cellars are able to create a very special and desirable wine cellar for each client. The owners of this beautiful home collaborated heavily with the Vintage Cellars team in the design process of this rustic custom wine cellar - something that we aim to do with every project. The homeowners wanted to showcase some of their favorite Magnum sized bottles in a high reveal horizontal display row, directly on top of another area highlighting the best 750 ml's in their collection. This small custom wine room fills most of the left wall with single deep, individual bottle storage. Directly below this wine racking is room for wine case / wine bin storage. Centered within this wall is a nice space for opening and decanting wines with a gorgeous dark stone countertop and room for hanging wine glasses above. The opposite wall is filled floor to ceiling with label revealing horizontal display rows. Again, this type of feature is very desirable in recent years. Homeowners want to be able to showcase the best bottles they own within their custom wine cellars in the most stunning and beautiful ways possible. Additionally, this feature is commonly replicated with metal bars for a more contemporary and modern look and feel. Within Beach Cities such as Del Mar, La Jolla, Cardiff, Coronado, Rancho Santa Fe, Encinitas, Solana Beach, Newport Beach and Orange County alike, small walk wine cellars are all the rage. Ken Henry So many 'Cool' features. To contrast the typical skylights. We built false drywall 'beams' in to create a linear feeling to the boxed out ceiling. We added LED strip lighting in the sides. At night, the LED lighting provides the down light for the island. The upper cabinet open from the bottom edge and lift up and out of the way. The appliance garages, typically hate them, but these work. They open at the corners and the doors lay back against the backsplash. The projection gave us an architectural detail that we took to the ceiling. It works for the big mixer, coffee maker etc that you don't want visible all of the time.
